Masculine Valentine

January 14, 2021

Hey everyone, it’s EK and today I am starting my quest to finish my vantines for those that I love. So one of the things I think the most difficult is crafting something for teenage boys. I can create for my husband with ease, and my daughters in a snap of the finger…but my teenage son, well that is a whole different story. Today I thought I would tackle a valentine for my son using Joset’s Peek-A-Boo Love Set dies to help me.

Step One: Die cut the door flap from the Peek-A-Boo Love Set die set onto an A2 card frame so the flap opens on the right.

Step Two: Using ink, blend the edges of the card frame. I used Pumice Stone Distress Oxide.

Step Three: Using yupo paper and alcohol inks, create a background. I went with blue tones trying to avoid the stereotypical valentine colors and create a more masculine feel.

Step Four: Trim the yupo paper, and add some 10mm Clear Double Sided Adhesive to the back of the paper and adhere it inside the card frame.

Step Five: Add both 10mm and 6mm Clear Double Sided Adhesive to the top inside boarder of the card frame and seal the card shut.

Step Six: Using two different inks, stamp a sentiment onto the flap from the Bear Hugs stamp set. I used Brick Red Distress Oxide for the ‘XOXO’ and Chipped Sapphire Distress Oxide for the ‘Hugs & Kisses’.

Step Seven: Die cut accessories from the Peek-A-Boo Love Set die set out of 90lb Soft Finish Cardstock and color them. I used copics.

Step Eight: Using liquid adhesive adhere the key to the front of the flap. I used Kids Choice Glue.

Step Nine: Adhere the other accessory pieces inside the card.

Step Ten: Stamp a sentiment inside the card from the Bear Hugs stamp set. I used StazOn ink over the alcohol ink.

Step Eleven: Finally spray the face of the card with a shimmer spray to give it a little flair.

I’m not certain this is quite masculine enough to keep my kid from rolling his eyes, but he will think the flap is pretty cool. He likes when my cards function in a none traditional way.

You Are Pandastic Card

June 30, 2020

Hi everyone, it’s Tina here. Panda’s are one of my favourite animals and I used the Panda Bear die to create today’s card. I used it along with the Bridge & Lotus and Adventure Edges Dies with the Bear Hugs Stamp set. Below you will find the steps to create your own You Are Pandastic card.

Step 1 – Trim White Soft Finish Cardstock to 8 1/2” x 5 1/2”, score at 4 1/2” and fold in half for a vertical side fold card. (A2)

Step 2 – Trim Light Green Cardstock to 5 1/2” x 4 1/2” and adhere to card front using 3mm Clear Double Sided Adhesive.

Step 3 – Stamp Bear Hugs sentiment using Versafine Onyx Black Ink to the center bottom of the card.

Step 4 – Diecut Adventure Edges (Clouds) x 2using White Soft Finish Cardstock. Ink up the edges using any ink of your choice. I used Distress Oxide Tumbled Glass. Adhere to the card front the bottom layer using 3mm Clear Double Sided Adhesive and the top layer using Foam Tape.

Step 5 – Diecut Bridge & Lotus in various colours of Cardstock. Assemble then adhere to card using Foam Tape for the everything except the Lotus and Leaves use Kid’s Choice Glue. A trick.

Step 6 – Diecut Panda using White and Black Cardstock. Assemble then adhere to card using Foam Tape. A tip: Place the images on your card and once you are happy with the design use Press ‘N Seal to pick up the pieces. Add the adhesive to the backside and then place on top of your card. Doing this step will ensure that your images will remain in the same place.

This can be used for many occasions by changing the sentiment. Below is a link to all the products used. Thank you for stopping by and Happy Crafting!

Hi Everyone, it’s Tina here. Rainbows have a new meaning these days. Did you know if you have circle dies you can make rainbows? Two of them. Below are the steps to create your own Sending You XOXO card.

Step 1 – Trim White Soft Finish Cardstock to 8 1/2” x 5 1/2”, score at 4 1/4” and fold in half for a horizontal card. (A2)

Step 2 – Place 7 circle dies evenly spaced on top of White Soft Finish Cardstock trimmed to 4 1/4” x 5 1/2” with removable tape. Diecut. Colour in rainbow colours using alcohol markers. Use tape on the backside to hold all the pieces together and adhere to card front using 3mm Clear Double Sided Adhesive Tape. Trim the access.

Step 3 – Diecut Sea Weed (the chest and accessories). Assemble the chest and adhere to card using Kid’s Choice Glue.

Step 4 – Diecut Peek-A-Boo Love Set and Entwined Heart (all the little hearts) using White Soft Finish Cardstock. Colour in various shades of red using Alcohol Markers. Adhere to the chest and some floating ones using Kid’s Choice Glue.

Step 5 – Stamp Bear Hugs sentiment using Versafine Onyx Black Ink on White Soft Finish Cardstock. I did some stamp surgery by using Sending You A Bear Hug Stamp and using removable tape to cover A Bear Hug. I inked the stamp and removed the tape.

Step 6 – Diecut Diagonal Stitched Fishtails using the sentiment created from Step 5. Trim the left side and adhere to card using Foam Tape.

Step 7 – Optional – Randomly adhere some Craft Drops Transparent Crystal.

This card can be used for any occasion by changing the sentiment. You can also change up the rainbow colours. Below is a link to all the products used. Thank you for stopping by and Happy Crafting!

Sending You A Bear Hug Card

December 26, 2019

Hi Everyone, it’s Tina here. Now that the holidays are sort of over I wanted make a playful card using the Honey Bear and Asian Accessories Die. Below you will find the steps to create your own Sending You A Bear Hug card.

Step 1 – Trim Red Soft Finish Cardstock to 8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″, score at 4 1/4″ and fold in half for a vertical side fold card. (A2)

Step 2 – Diecut Fitted Rounded Rectangles using the card base created from Step 1. Be sure to offset the die slightly past the fold. This is round all the corners while keeping the card 1piece.

Step 3 – Diecut Stitched Rounded Rectangles using White Soft Finish Cardstock. One die slightly smaller than card base. Doodle a pattern using any colour medium of your choice. I made a freehand checkered background and coloured it using Spectrum Noir Classique Alcohol Markers. Adhere to card using 3mm Clear Double Sided Adhesive.

Step 4 – Diecut Honey Bear using either coloured cardstock or White and colour in the colours of your choice. Assemble the Bear and bees using Kids Choice Glue.

Step 5 – Diecut Asian Accessories (the umbrella). I added some shading to the Umbrella using Spectrum Noir Classique Alcohol Markers. Adhere the Umbrella, Bear and Bees using Foam Tape.

Step 6 – Stamp Bear Hugs sentiment using Versafine Clair Nocturne Ink on White Cardstock. Trim the sentiment and adhere on top of the bear arms using 3mm Clear Double Sided Adhesive.

I love making patterns by freehand and using them as a background. Try it out and the fun part is you don’t have to doodle the entire panel. Below is a link to all the products used. Thank you for stopping by and have a wonderful day.
