Christmas Crafting During Summer

June 26, 2021

Hey Friends! It’s EK, and I figured it is almost July, so why not started on my Christmas Cards. I pulled out a couple of Suzanne’s A Way With Words holiday dies and my Silk Microfine Glitter to play with and figured it was summer so I might as well play with a pink and teal color scheme.

Step One: On a piece Watercolor Paper, randomly paint pink and teal watercolors from the Watercolor Palette. Let dry.

Step Two: Splatter the watercolor paper with a heavy pink and teal watercolor paint. Trim the paper to fit an A2 card frame and using a 10mm Clear Double Sided Adhesive Tape adhere it to the card frame.

Step Three: Die cut both the A Way With Words Merry Christmas 3 die set and the A Way With Words Flourished Holly die set out of 8.5″x11″- 5 pack Double Sided Adhesive Tape.

Step Four: Peel the adhesive tape’s backing and adhere the holly back pieces and the Christmas die cut to the card frame.

Step Five: Using the Earth Glitter Palette Vintage Teal Silk Microfine Glitter, color the die cuts. ECD’s Brushes are perfect to wipe off excess glitter.

Step Six: Repeat step five with the holly berries back piece and the Merry die cut using Silk Microfine Glitter Bright Cranberry.

Step Seven: Finish the layers of Flourished Holly die cut by adding the holly outline over the bottom pieces.

Step Eight: Add Ice Teal from the Earth Glitter Palette to the holly outline.

While these color may not be traditional, I love how festive this holiday card turned out. Let us know in the comments below what non traditional colors you like to use on your holiday projects.

And don’t miss out! Suzanne’s Holiday Dies are priced to sell, so make sure you pick up yours before they are gone forever. Until then, happy crafting.

Glitter Princess

August 17, 2020

IMG_0835Hey friends!  It’s EK, and I am popping in today with an over the top glitter card for a little princess in my life.  Let’s be honest, when dealing with the little princess in your life, it really should be over the top, and the new Princess Crown die set is perfect for a little bit of over the top glitter.

IMG_0825Step One:  Place some Clear Double Sided Adhesive over a piece of trimmed 90lb Soft Finish Cardstock.  Die cut the Princess Crown die set over the Clear Double Sided Adhesive.

IMG_0826Step Two:  Peel back the adhesive paper of the crown shape die cut and adhere the detailed crown die cut over into the center of it.  Add Lavender Ice Silk Microfine Glitter over the die cut crown shape.

IMG_0827Step Three:  Peel the adhesive paper back from the detailed crown die cut and add Imperial Garnet Silk Microfine Glitter over it.

IMG_0828Step Four:  Add Bright Cranberry Silk Microfine Glitter over the Princess die cut and the heart from the detailed crown die cut.

IMG_0829Step Five:  Add Copper Rose Silk Microfine Glitter over the stars and flair die cut piece.

IMG_0830Step Six:  Trim a piece of 90lb Soft Finish Cardstock to 4.25×5.5 inches.  Blend dark water soluble ink over the cardstock and spray it with sparkling spray.  I used Black Soot Distress Oxide and Perfect Pearls Spray.  Let Dry.

IMG_0831Step Seven:  Die cut the blended piece of cardstock with a large die from the Stitched Indented Rectangle die set.

IMG_0833Step Eight:  Using 10mm Clear Double Sided Adhesive, adhere the die cut blended cardstock to an A2 card frame.    Then add the glitter crown on top of the blended cardstock.  Using Kids Choice Glue, adhere the rest of the die cuts to the card frame.

IMG_0834Step Nine:  Using a stamping platform, stamp stars and a sentiment from the new Once Upon a Time Sentiments stamp set using white pigment ink.

IMG_0836I wish you could see exactly how sparkly this card is with all this glitter.  I just adore how the pinks and purples just pop with the black behind it.

Glitter Garden

February 22, 2020

Hey Friends! It’s EK, and today I am playing around with both some positive and negative die cutting and a whole host of silk microfine glitter. With spring just around the corner, it seemed like the perfect time to play around with a garden theme. And I find the Suzanne Cannon line is perfect when you want to play around with die cutting on several layers.

Step One: Prep a piece of 90lb Soft Finish Cardstock with a sheet of Clear Double Sided Adhesive. Die cut the flowers from the A Way with Words Wreath & Elements.

Step Two: Peel the paper from the Clear Double Sided Adhesive and add Silk Microfine Glitter to the die cuts.

I used Leaf Green Silk Microfine Glitter for the steams, Copper Rose Silk Microfine Glitter for the back of the roses, and Bright Cranberry Silk Microfine Glitter for the rose outline.

Step Three: Adhere the flower together using Kids Choice Glue.

Step Four: Die cut the sentiment using the My Garden Flowers die set and the prepared 90lb Soft Finish Cardstock and Clear Double Sided Adhesive.

Step Five: Peel half of the adhesive paper off the words. Add Copper Rose Silk Microfine Glitter to the peel half of the die cuts.

Step Six: Peel the second half of the adhesive paper off the words and add Bright Cranberry Silk Microfine Glitter to the words.

Step Seven: Trim a piece of Dove Gray Soft Finish Cardstock to 6×6 inches. Blend different green inks onto the trimmed cardstock. I used Distress Oxides in Pine Needles, Bundle Sage and Iced Spruce.

Step Eight: Die cut out butterflies from the green blended cardstock using the Butterflies & Stars Sprays. Save the die cut butterflies.

Step Nine: Using Kids Choice Glue adhere the roses and sentiment to the green blended cardstock.

Step Ten: Add a metallic trim to the edges of the cardstock using the Borders & Corners Peel Off Stickers. Glue the left over die cut butterflies to the card frame, letting the light butterflies rest in the dark areas and vice versa.

Step Eleven: Trim a piece of Dusky Blue Soft Finish Cardstock to 12×6 inches. Score and fold the cardstock to make a 6×6 inch card frame. Add a piece of trimmed Clear Double Sided Adhesive sheet to the top corner of the card frame. Add two strips of 10mm Clear Double Sided Adhesive to the other side.

Step Twelve: Peel the adhesive paper and adhere the green blended cardstock. Add Cool Diamond Silk Microfine Glitter to the open die cut areas.

Step Thirteen: Add Transparent Crystal Craft Drops to the die cut butterflies to add dimension and sparkle to the added butterflies.

I hope you enjoyed my glitter garden as much as I do.

What are you looking forward most too in spring? Let us know in the comments below. Until then, Happy Spring Crafting!
