Cardmaking Paper Flowers Stamping Watercolor

Tis the Season

Hello Friends and welcome to the Elizabeth Craft Designs Blog. It is Karan here sharing a Christmas card with you, designed with the new Blooms Collection and Florals 12 from Elizabeth Crafts. Along with a easy background tutorial you can easily do on your own.

I am in the mood for Christmas and wanted to create a few more Christmas Cards so I hope you enjoy this one. 


I went into my EC stash and pulled out everything related to Christmas, to create this. I have a few steps here i can share with you on how i created this gorgeous card. 

To begin with i used canson water color paper for my main background, smooshed some antique linen on my mat and pulled my background paper through that. (this measures 4 x 6 by the way) Stamping with CS146 as i felt it reminded me of the days of Christmas. I used Gold embossing powder form Nuvo and heat set that. 

I inked around the edges with antique linen distress ink again just to add a bit of dimension. I added some splatters to the background using aged mahogony and the water brush woth the water color set. 

I then set that aside to dry and got started on my blooms.

I stamped 6 of the poinsettia flowers from the Peace Bloom set. I wasn’t sure at this point how many I was going to use, I just knew I wanted to use them. I stamped with versa mark and then heat setting them with gold embossing powder. I then colored them with the water colors. As it turned out I only used two of these on my final project. I stamped the sentiment from CS101 – Classic Christmas Sentiments onto canson water color paper using black Archival Ink. I did the same smooshing technique to the sentiment as i did to my background. 

Layering the main background with black, then gold mirri, red and craft to coordinate with the colors in the background. I added some florals using the florals 12 coloring with aged mahogany and adding stamens to the centers.

I wanted to use the blooms from the Peace set as the background layer and added my florals 12 on top of that both on the top and bottom of the sentiment block

I grabbed my favorite snow paste and just dabbed some of that around my card to give it that snowy look you see. 

I added some colored seam binding and gold thread to tie this all together. I hope you have enjoyed my little step out tutorial today.

Merry & Bright Mini Album

Hello Friends and welcome to the Elizabeth Craft Designs Blog. It is Karan Gerber here sharing a project with you. Today I have a mini album to share with you. I designed this using the Florals 12 on the cover along with the Indented Stitched Rectangles and Stitched Fishtails. The inside boosts a few more of my favorites and I hope you enjoy. 

The papers are from Stamperia – Classic Christmas. I love the vintage feel to the images in this collection and they were perfect for photo flips throughout the album. 

Inside cover and first page. I free hand drew the curves pockets on the inside front cover and used the Indented Rectangles as photo mats throughout the album.

Page 2 and 3 – Indented Rectangles used again for photo flips. 

Above I used Planner Essentials 16 and created a pocket from that large tree. Photo mats will fit in there. Same with the Small Villages on page 5. Photo mats will slip in under the houses and trees on that page. 

For pages 6 and 7 I used the Stitched Indented Rectangles for the front of a side pocket. 

For he last page and inside back cover I used the Stitched Circles and Indented Rectangles. Lots of gold mirri paper was used throughout.

Hello everyone, Alice here. Today I would like to show you another winter project. For this card I started working with the Igloo and the Pinguin dies both from earlier releases from Joset. I actually never made any winter creations before. I started doing this last year and I can tell you, it’s really great fun!





Let me show you how I created my card. 





I started to die cut a star out of patterned paper. To cut the start I used the 1452 Fitted Stars set. I used ModaScrap papar as a base. The paper is from the “Let it Snow” paper pack.










I then made a pocket with the fuse tool for shaking material. The fuse tool is very handy for this. It takes some practice, but the end result is very useful. As shaking material I choose some playful penguins.










I made the pocket behind the patterned paper. I did this with double sided adhesive. Behind this whole I adhered an equally large sheet (15 x 15 cm) piece of Soft Finish Cardstock. Before making this one behind it, I made the penguin in the middle. What a sweetheart she is. She even put on her antlers.





In the front I made the igloo using the Igloo die set # 1569. I first cut the igloo out of white cardstock covered with Clear Double Sided Adhesive sheet. After die cutting I peeled off the lined of the tape and covered the exposed adhesive with Cool Diamond Silk Microfine Glitter. This is one of my favorite product to use on almost any creation. Don’t forget to brush off any extra glitter and to polish the glitter with your index finger. This makes the glitter really shine. 










I matted the whole with a basic blue paper and then again with soft finish cardstock. I added a banner right at the top of the card with the sentiment “winter wishes and snowflakes kisses”.   





To finish the card I added a bow on the left right from the top to the bottom. I maade the bow with seambinding. I made this color with oxide spray Stormy Sky. When you heat this it wil crumble very nicely.

Karen here today.  Tis the season for me to finally get started on making some holiday cards. I usually make more than 100 and get started much sooner, but better later than never, right? Today’s batch uses the same basic card sketch. I used a few of Joset’s “critters” to create some fun cards.










I started by cutting that beautiful patterned paper at 3-3/4×5″ and a solid background for it at 4×5-1/4″. The ovals are cut using 90 lb Soft Finish Cardstock with the Stitched Ovals. The sentiment is from the Classic Christmas Sentiments Set.  Once I got these pieces done, the rest was just pure fun.










I used 90 lb White Soft Finish Cardstock and black cardstock for the Penguin. The hat is from the Santa die (red is Copic R35), the nose and feet are colored with YR14. As usual, I used 101mm Double Sided Adhesive to make putting together the critter easier.










The Sheep is also wearing Santa’s hat. (Why not, right?) He is colored using Vintage Photo and Tea Dye Distress inks and a Copic R34 and W7.










Last and never least is Santa! I colored him with Copic W7, R27 and Y000 (for the skin). He’s so cute.

Hello! Welcome – Samantha here. With Christmas done for another year I wanted to share a card that stretches the use of Christmas themed dies. I’ve partnered the Jack Frost die with Cute Winter Sentiment stamp to create this fun general card perfect for any time of the year.





Card Instructions:





Step 1: Create a card front using light blue card (Card Measurement: 10.5cm x 14.5cm).





Step 2: Using white soft finish card die cut the snowy ground using Adventure Edges dies. Adhere these to the card as shown below. 










Step 3: Using a different shade of light blue die cut the three snowflakes from the Snow Globe die – adhere these to the card.





Step 4: (Optional) Add machine stitched details. 





Step 5: Die cut all the Jack Frost pieces and assemble him onto the card front.










TIP: I enjoy adding texture to a card – using felt material was an great way to make Jack Frost look and feel like a fluffy snowman and it die cut perfectly with Elizabeth Craft Design dies.










Step 6: Stamp the sentiment, trim and using foam tape adhere it to the card front.










Step 7: Adhere the googly eyes. Die cut additional Jack Frost buttons to use as snow drops on your background. 










Step 8: Embellish with some sequins, and a twine bow. Switch out the die cut Jack Frost paper buttons for some gems/enamel dots to add additional interest to the card.










Step 9: Adhere card front to an A6 card base.

Merry Christmas Poinsettia Shadow Box Heirloom

Hi there Artlets!  It’s Suzanne here today with a fun little project!  We’re going to make a Christmas decoration from a shadow box filled with poinsettias!  You’ll be able to keep it for years or give to someone who will treasure it!





Follow along and you’ll know how to make your own family heirloom.





Choose a deep (shadow box) frame. This one is small, just a 4×6”.  I wish I’d had a slightly bigger one which would have let more light into the flowers inside.  Keep that in mind when you choose your own frame!










I decided to mount the flowers on a piece of cork just to provide some interest between the flowers, but you could simply use red cardstock.  Cut it into the shape of the back panel of the frame.  










Draw a line on the backing you just made that will show you the edges of the frame which forms the support for the glass.  It will be smaller than the backing – at least it was with this frame.










Die cut the large poinsettia pieces from the Christmas Accents die set. You’ll just need the top two “petals”, not the green ones.  I cut enough for twelve poinsettias, but ended up needing fifteen, so make sure you have enough cardstock!










Blend Distress Ink on the edges of the poinsettia and then use a ball stylus to add dimension to the petals. 





Assemble the flowers.










Begin adding the flowers to your background.  I put the glass support in place just to give me extra guidance. Continue adding flowers till the background is filled.










Now assemble your frame following the frame instructions.  You will likely have to coax some of the poinsettia leaves inside the frame interior so they aren’t pinched when you put the back on the frame.










Die cut Merry Christmas 4 from Soft Finish Cardstock.  Apply adhesive (I like Glue Dots for this step) and adhere to the glass front on the frame.










Sweet decoration and a perfect gift!

And then Christmas is  really coming and….. You really still need to send some Christmas cards. I always try to make a different card for everyone, personal, with a joke, beautiful, classic or with a light. But every year I’m short of cards. How nice it is if you can still make nice homemade cards in a bit of pace. Like this one, for example.










Still nice and pretty quick made.










I made 6 in a short time, and I’ll show you how I did it.










So a mini-workshop.










These are the products I used.










Step 1: Cut 6 pieces of white soft finish cardstock measuring 9.5 x 13.8 cm.





Step 2: Sprinkle some color burst on each. A tiny bit is more than enough.





Step 3: Spray some water on it and let it dry or dry it with the heat tool.





You can also create a background with the Watercolor palette from E.C.D.










Step 4: Give the edges a tan. I used distress ink crackling campfire. Stick it on a blank card of 10.5 x 14.8 cm or fold half a A4 sheet double. Give that a touch of color too.










Step 5: Cut a reindeer head from white soft finish cardstock and color it with distress ink (Crackling campfire or color of choice). Then sprinkle some Glaze embossing powder over top. 










Step 6: Die cut Merry Christmas from white cardstock backed with clear double sided adhesive tape. Die cut on the side where the tape is so you get a slice on the right side. Carefully remove the backing of the tape and sprinkle silk microfine glitter over the words. I used Forest green. Polish your glitter with your finger and brush of any access. 










Step 7: Adhere the reindeer head and the words on the front using glue and your card is done.

Building a Christmas Scene

The mantel is my favorite place to decorate for Christmas.  It’s in the family room and where we spend most of our time and I like to go all out on it.  So I was very excited to get the Hang the Stockings set – there are so many pieces in this die set and at such a good price!  To really deck out the scene, I added a lot of details using the new release from Suzanne Cannon as well as some older sets.










The fireplace die set is very large so I started with a 5″x7″ card base.  I found some textured beige paper to be my wall so I trimmed that down to 4.75″ x 6.75″.  My fireplace is white so it was two die cuts straight from card stock to make the detailed fireplace.  For my stockings, I found some Christmas patterned paper.  To make that yellow glow behind the fire, I used Distress Oxide Fossilized Amber on a very dark gray cardstock.










After the basic setting, I looked through the other dies I had to see what could work around the fireplace.  For the green swag, I die cut the pine bough  from the Create A Wreath from green card stock and used different green Copic markers for a variety in hues.  The poinsettias were created with the smallest two flower dies from Christmas Accents. 










The twin trees and presents are from the Flourished Christmas Minis 2 and Flourished Christmas Minis 3.  I trimmed all the flourishes off the trees and used just the lid of the presents for smaller gifts.  There’s even a stack of 3 presents because when it’s a great gift, I buy multiples!  Lol!  I’m not a fan of Christmas shopping at all.
