Fun with Farm Dies

July 10, 2021

Karen here today! I’m excited to share a few cards I made with the “Life is Better on the Farm” collection of dies and stamps. I’d gone to a class at a craft event several years back where I was going to make a mini-album with all sorts of inked up backgrounds. I didn’t finish the project, but I recently found the pack of backgrounds and decided to have some fun with the farm animals and a few of the “accessory” die sets.

These were the three fun backgrounds that I decided to play with. I love how fun and colorful they are. Note that I used 90 lb Soft Finish Cardstock to create all my card bases and all my critters today. Love this cardstock!

With that gorgeous green background, I decided to use the very sweet Sheep die in shades of tan distress inks (Tea Dye, Antique Linen and Ground Espresso. (The cheeks have a teeny bit of Kitsch Flamingo.) I used a piece of ribbon, the Party Accessories Dies and Florals 5 Dies to jazz up this fun birthday card. The sentiment is from the Life is Better on the Farm Sentiment Stamps and is cut out with a Stitched Circles die, framed with a Fitted Circles die.

My “howdy” stamp is made with the REALLY sweet Donkey dies, colored with Kitsch Flamingo, Walnut Stain and Antique Linen Distress Inks. The hat is from the Hats set and is colored with Worn Lipstick, Mustard Seed and a Y26 Copic marker. Eek, I love him! The sunflowers are colored with Mowed Lawn, Mustard Seed and Walnut Stain Distress Inks and are in the Farm Accessories dies. Again, on this card, I used the Life is Better on the Farm Stamps.

And WHAT could be cuter than a farmer roasting a hot dog?! Of course, the fellow is cut with the Farmer die. His skin tones are Copics E000, E00, R21 and R4 (lips). The clothes are Faded Denim, Squeezed Lemonade, Black Soot, and Antique Linen. His grey hair is colored with Hickory Smoke. The hot dog, stick and fire can be found in the Camping Accessories. They are colored Vintage Photo, Crackling Campfire, Mustard Seed and an E11 Copic (hot dog). The Tree die was also used on this card (I just used a piece of it…) Again, the sentiment is from the Life is Better on the Farm Set.

That’s it for me today! Thanks so much for stopping by.

Craftily yours, Karen

Mini Slimline Birthday Wish Card

June 21, 2021

Hi everyone, it’s Tina here with another Birthday Wish Mini Slimline Card. I used the Donkey along with the Once Upon A Time Accessories for some Butterflies and the Farm Accessories for the Flower that is entwined in the Donkey’s Tail. Below you will find the steps to create your own card.

Step 1 – Trim White Soft Finish Cardstock to 7” x 6”, score at 3 1/2” and fold in half for a vertical side fold card. (Mini Slimline)

Step 2 – Diecut Adventure Edges (cloud) to create a stencil for a cloud background. Place the diecut on the card front and using a Blender Brush apply ink. I used Distress Oxide Ink in Tumbled Glass. Move the stencil down and repeat until you filled up the complete card front.

Step 3 – Diecut Adventure Edges (grass) using Green Cardstock. Adhere the grass to the bottom using 3mm Clear Double Sided Adhesive Tape.

Step 4 – Diecut Donkey using a Light Grey and Dark Grey Cardstock. Assemble and adhere the Donkey in between the Grass using Kid’s Choice Glue

Step 5 – Diecut Farm Accessories (flower petals, flower center and leaf stem) using various colors of Cardstock. Assemble and adhere the flower in between the Donkey’s Tail using Kid’s Choice Glue.

Step 6 – Diecut Once Upon A Time Accessories (Butterflies) in various colors of Cardstock. Adhere to card using Kid’s Choice Glue.

Step 7 – Stamp Life Is Better On The Farm (sentiment) using Versafine Onyx Black Ink.

This card can be used for several occasions by simply changing the sentiment. An idea is you can change the flower the Donkey is holding with the tail to Balloons instead using the Party Accessories. Below is a link to all the products used. Thank you for stopping by and Happy Crafting!

Hee Haw! It’s Your Birthday

May 16, 2021

Hello friends, it’s Sandy Diller and I’m here to share an easel card that is packed full of fun and cuteness. This farm collection from Joset is just adorable and making these cute little critters is addictive.

This is fun and easy so let’s get started.

Since this is an easel card and I wanted it to be tall – I began with cardstock that was 12″ X 5″ then scored as shown above. To extend the bottom of the card and add some weight I added a panel that was 5″ X 7″.

I love making these adorable animals and have a few on hand. I used the Sheep, Cow, Donkey, Hen & Rooster and Pig on this card. The Cow and Donkey are sitting down on this card so I used the die shown with the arrow to achieve this look.

Since my animals are all piled up, I made the Barn taller by placing the cutting pad above the arrow as shown with the white line and leaving some extra paper on the bottom. After the barn was complete, it was glued along with the animals on a 5″ X 7″ white panel and then added to the easel card.

The hay panel was placed at the bottom edge of the card and folded just 1/2″ inch at the top to make the front panel stand up. Some altered hay stacks were added to the top edge. I used the Life is Better On The Farm stamp set to stamp the greeting and some extra chickens, you can never have too many chickens.

Enjoy your week and get creative,

Sandy
