Decorated Box With Susan’s Garden Patch

June 25, 2015

Hi, it’s Angela and today I want to share a decorated box that I created with Elizabeth Craft Designs products. Lately I’ve been inspired by softer color palettes and springtime. I decided to use one of Susan’s Garden Patch die and the new flower dies to create a quilt. The box is a perfect place to keep your dies or cards that you’ve created.

The Box:

*Cut about 15 1/4″ strips of assorted patterns of pattern paper. Attach ECD double-sided adhesive to a piece of 5″ x 4″ thin white paper. Start placing the 1/4″ strips to the adhesive in a herringbone pattern.

*Using the Garden Patch die, cut out a green cardstock grid and also cut out the paper you created the herringbone on and keep the 6 squares, discard the frame.

*Attach the green grid to a double mat of patterned papers and glue the six squares into the openings. Apply some coffee ink around the edges using a sponge.

*Attach the grid to a piece of patterned paper and a green mat and attach to the box top.

Decorating the Quilt:

*Cut one leafy branch from green cardstock to decorate the two opposite corners of the box.

*Cut 3 sets of flowers from the Bunch of Flowers die. Distress and wrinkle the flowers. Apply ink to the edges and nest the three sizes together. Place a brad to hold them together. Glue two flowers to the lower left corner.

*Glue one flower to the upper right corner and place two pins under the flower.

*Cut the word “QUILT” using the Alphabet 1-Caps die from patterned paper and glue to the bottom right corner of the box.

*Decorate the sides and the inside the box as desired.

I hope you will try this faux quilt technique with your Garden Patch dies! The results are beautiful!

And last but not least the wonderful Pop it Ups collection by Karen Burniston including 3 NEW Character dies, Poppy, Hoppy and Chilly plus a Props set. Karen has 2 great Videos demonstrating the new dies. To watch the Videos click HERE.

Now that we’ve showed you all of the new dies, it’s time for some samples! The Design Team came up with some amazing projects. Here are just a few of the cards they created:

Rita Edwards created a Stand Up Helpers card using the Snowflake Stand Up Helper from Stand Up Helpers Set 2. She also used the Candle, Holly Leaves & Berries and the new Merry Christmas dies.

Els van de Burgt used the new word Stand Up Helpers Season’s Greetings and Merry Christmas. For the card on the left Els used the Stocking Solid and the Stocking Overlay Set 1. The little flower is included in the Candle die set which was also used for the card on the right. The Holly Flourish was used to decorate the top and bottom of the card.

Rita Edwards created a second Stand Up Helpers card using the Tree Stand Up Helper from Stand Up Helpers 2. Rita also used the Snowman and Happy New Year dies.

Jackie Smith used the ornament dies from Ornament Set 3 to create her card. She also used the small sprigs included in the Candle die set and the new Merry Christmas word die. The larger sprig at the top is from our previous collection and it is called Sprig and Berries.

Debra Hensley used the Season’s Greetings Stand Up Helper die to illustrate how beautiful it can look on a flat card. She also used the NEW Snowman and the 5 Part Pine (from our previous collection).

Karen Aicken also used the Season’s Greeting Stand Up Helper die for a flat card. Because of the bar at the bottom of the letters, the die can also be used to create a border sentiment at the top of a card. Karen used the Holly Leaves and Berries dies for the card front and embossed the background with the Berry Branch Embossing Folder, a great combination!

Candy Spiegel used the NEW Rubber Ducky and the Congratulations die from our previously released collection.

Frances Byrne used the umbrella, boots and raindrops from the Rainy Day die set, along with the Get Well Soon Stand Up Helper, for her card.

Kelly Booth created this card using our NEW Crystal Flower and Hello Stand Up Helper dies. There are 3 Crystal Flower sets: Crystal Flower Set 1 includes 2 solid flowers (2 sizes) and 2 centers; Crystal Flower Overlay Set 1 (not shown) and Crystal Flower Overlay Set 2 (used for this project) include two overlays to match the solid flowers, along with two centers.

Raquel Mason used the umbrella from the Rainy Day die set as well as the new Rubber Ducky die for her card. They are the perfect fit for Karen Burniston’s NEW Ring Accordion Card die.

Helen Cryer used the NEW Wheelbarrow and Bunch of Flowers 1 and Accordion Circle Card from our previously released collection.

Francs Byrne also used the Wheelbarrow die for her card, along with the new Happy Birthday Stand Up Helper. She used Karen Burniston’s NEW Outdoor Edges and Bunch of Flowers 1 and Curvy Leaves from our previously released collection. As you can see, the Design Team loves to use dies they already own in combination with the new ones they’ve just received!

We hope that these samples will inspire you and that you are as excited as we are about the new dies!

To celebrate our new release we’re having a prize drawing! Subscribe to our blog and leave a comment on today’s blog post in order to enter to win the prize. We will select one lucky winner in a random drawing. She/he will receive $100 to spend at www.ecraftdesigns.com

The winner will be announced on Monday, July 7, on the Elizabeth Craft Designs blog.
