It’s Tanja here and today I would like to show you a Mixed Media Art Journal Project. But first I would like to introduce you to some of the different pages you can create with the help of the dies from the Summer Journal Special.
Possibility 1:
cut out the double page with the die on the left, cut off one of the flaps and stitch it together
I use this to store my cut outs from the Summer Journal Special
Possibility 2:
cut out the double page with the die on the left and the pocket on the bottom right
cut off the flap on the left
you end up with one normal page on the left and a pocket on the right
Possibility 3:
cut out the double page with the die on the left
cut off the flaps
add the half pocket cut out with the die n the top left
you can use this to store your stencils from the Summer Journal Special or a tag
In the following step by step tutorial I am going to create a mixed media tag and decorate the half pocket:
Step 1: Die Cutting
since I already showed you how to create the half pocket, I only need to die cut the tag from watercolor paper with the help of the die from the Butterfly Pocket Insert die set
Step 2: Adding Texture
adhere some torn tissue paper to the tag with multi medium
apply Grit Paste through one of the stencils from the Summer Journal Special and let this dry or heat-it with your heat tool for even more texture
Step 3: Adding Color
add color by smooshing the tag into watered-down Distress Paint (Cracked Pistachio, Salty Ocean, Peacock Feathers)
Step 4: Finishing Touches
ink up the edges of the tag with Distress Ink Hickory Smoke
dye four strands of torn seam binding with Distress Stains Peacock Feathers and thread them through the hole of the tag
cut out one of the poppies from the Floral Insert die set from grey cardstock
add a pre-cut sentiment
Step 5: Decorating the Pocket
apply Distress Ink Hickory Smoke through one of the stencils from the Summer Journal Special
stamp one of the definitions from the Journal Words set with Versafine Clair Nocturne
stamp some single words from that same set and with that same ink – use up to fifth generation stamping to let it fade out
I hope you got inspired.

Hey Crafters! Katelyn here, sharing with you my Miss You Card.
To create my Miss You Card, I’ve used a variety of dies from Suzanne Cannon and Joset Designs. You’ll want to read below as I share with you how to recreate my card at home.
Step One. Die cut the 4″ Stitched Rounded Rectangle die out of kraft cardstock. Die cut the 3 1/2″ Stitched Rounded Rectangle die out of White Soft Finish Cardstock. Ink the edges of both rectangles using Walnut Stain Distress Ink and a blending tool with foam.
Step Two. Die cut the Flourished Frame out of book page.
Step Three. Die cut the Flourished Oval Frame out of kraft cardstock. Ink the edges of the frame using Walnut Stain Distress Ink and a blending tool with foam.
Step Four. Die cut the Miss You die out of Watercolor Cardstock. Using a blending tool with foam, blend Worn Lipstick Distress Ink lightly over the entire surface of the word.
Step Five. Choose two of the flowers from the Floral Insert die and die cut the two flowers out of White Soft Finish Cardstock. Using a waterbrush and the Watercolor Palette, colour the flowers.
Step Six. Adhere the Flourished Frame to the 4″ stitched rounded rectangle. Foam square the 3 1/2″ stitched rounded rectangle to the middle of the 4″ stitched rounded rectangle.
Step Seven. Adhere the two flowers to the left hand side of the 3 1/2″ stitched rounded rectangle as desired. Adhere the flourished oval frame 1/2″ from the bottom and 3/8″ from the right of the 3 1/2″ stitched rounded rectangle.
Step Eight. Adhere the Miss You word as desired overtop of the flourished oval frame.
Step Nine. Cut a cardbase out of White Soft Finish Cardstock that measures 5 1/4″ x 8″, score at 4″. Adhere the cardfront to the cardbase.
Thanks for joining me today! I hope that I’ve inspired you to create your own version of my Miss You Card.
Karen here today sharing a card I made with some of the fun, new products from the Art Journal line. This beautiful line of products is terrific for cardmaking, scrapbooking and – of course – art journaling!
I started this card by first cutting that pretty border from 90 lb White Soft Finish Cardstock using one of the dies from the Journal Edges set. I placed it on a piece of green cardstock and added another small strip of green cardstock just above the die cut part. I left a small part at the top with no glue, so I could tuck flowers in. I then cut the whole thing with a Stitched Rectangle Die. See below.
Next, I used the Watercolor Palette to paint beautiful flowers cut using 90 lb White Soft Finish Cardstock from the Flower Power Dies and from the Floral Insert Dies. I love the vibrant colors!
I added the flowers using Kids Choice Glue leaving the tops not fully glued down. I also added the “Smile” sentiment (from the Zen Sentiments Clear Stamps) to the card front. To finish off this card, I added some pink bakers twine.
