Flourished Oval Frame

A Way With Words

Poinsettia Christmas

November 21, 2020

Hi Artlets!  It’s Suzanne here today with a project that’s guaranteed to be loved by whoever receives it!

We’re going to use the brand new Christmas Accents die set to create a bouquet of poinsettias.  Let’s get started…..

Instructions:

Form a 5 x 7” tent-fold card base from deep red cardstock.

Die cut the Flourished Frame from deep red cardstock and Flourished Oval Frame from gold cardstock.  Center and adhere the Flourished Frame centered on the card front. Center and adhere the Flourished Oval Frame on the card front inside the Flourished Frame.

Die cut Poinsettia petals (technically they’re leaves, but we’ll refer to the red ones as petals!) to make three large and five small poinsettias from paler red cardstock.  Die cut enough leaves to match from green cardstock. Cut enough flower centers for each of the poinsettias.

Blend darker Distress Ink on edges of poinsettia petals. The colour you use, depends on what looks good with your cardstock!  I used Fired Brick, but you could just use one of the browns.  Do the same thing with the edges of the leaves, using a darker green.  Blend a little green on the yellow centers, too.

Add some shape to the poinsettias by rubbing the leaves with the ball stylus (or small spoon) while on a foam or cushioned pad (a mouse pad will do!) and stroking inward to cup the flower petals and leaves. Adhere the layers together to form the flowers.

Adhere the flowers as shown in the photo, or as pleases you!

Beautiful!! Merry Christmas!
Suzanne
