Hello everyone.. It’s my turn on the blog today with this fun hanging frame decoration featuring three cute fun loving cockatoos. The frame is made to look like bamboo, now I know that bamboo is not really square but anything goes in papercraft right!
Step One.
Die cut the smallest frame part four times into buff coloured card then use the watercolour paints to make the frame pieces resemble bamboo, a very small thin paint brush will make this easier.
Step Two
Pierce four holes into what will become the top most part of the frame, you will only need to do this on one part, make a re-enforcer for each hole to add some stability. See photo for approximate hole placement.
Step Three
Roll up a piece of card approximately 5cm long, you can use a straw or pen to help make the card roll. Once rolled nice and tightly fix with glue then use the watercolour paints again to create a wood effect, then use a pointed tool to puncture a hole though the wooden batten at each end.
Step four
Next die cut and build all the parrots and flowers using the photo for colour reference, the parrot is coloured using a pale pink Spun Sugar distress ink and his feet are coloured a with a light grey Hickory Smoke, colour the eye with black ink then add a tiny white dot in the centre.
Step five
Attach the wooden swing post, feed the thread through the holes and knot. Then start arranging the leaves and flowers in two corners.
Step Six
Add the parrots to finish.
Thank you for stopping by today, I hope I have inspired you to have a play with these brilliant new frame dies.
Until next time – Happy crafting Jackie
