Charlene Stamps Inspiration from the Design Team Stamping Watercolor Watercolor Palette

A Little Hocus Pocus

October 29, 2020

Hey Friends! It’s EK, and I am popping in with a little bit of fan art I created using several stamp sets from Ilse and Charlene. This collection has a whole host of great stamp sets featuring different girls, and I have been kicking the idea around for some time about combining them to create a little homage to my favorite Halloween Movie. I don’t know if I quite captured the look I was going for, but I sure had a lot of fun trying.

Step One: Trim a piece of watercolor to 6×4.5 inches. Stamp girl images from Floral Girls, Halloween Party, and Make a Wish stamp sets onto Watercolor paper, masking where needed. I picked three different gal images trying to capture a likeness of three famous movie witches.

Step Two: Peel up the masks to reveal the stamped images.

Step Three: Watercolor the images focusing in on the skin and hair. I used ECD’s Watercolor Palette.

Step Four: Finish watercoloring the image.

Step Five: Blend ink around the edges to create a haze. I used Shabby Shutters Distress Oxide.

Step Six: Trim a piece of black cardstock to 8.5×6 inches. Using 10mm Clear Double Sided Adhesive, adhere the watercolor paper to the black cardstock. Die cut a halloween sentiment from the Words 3 Happy Holidays die set. Using Kids Choice Glue, adhere the sentiment to the cardstock.

While I did not quite capture the three witches from my favorite spooky movie, I am still going to matte this piece and frame it for the Halloween Season.

Happy Halloween

October 12, 2020

With Halloween only just around the corner we thought a Halloween theme would be perfect for today’s blog post. Our design team members created some amazing spooky projects that sure will blow your mind. We have a lot to show you this time so let’s get started.

First project is from EK Gorman who created this fantastic Halloween display using the animal critters by Joset Designs and decorated each of them in their fabulous halloween costume. How fun would this be to re-create and play dress up with the critters. For the costumes she used a combination of the critter accesory dies. Make sure to check out EK’s blog for all the details.

Sandy Diller created this adroable Trick or Treat card using the Knight’s Armour and Princess dies. Love how Sandy dressed up ths princess and the cute accesories. For the semtiment she used the Spooky Sentiments with the matching die from the Labels 1 set.

Marjolijn van Elsberg has been working away on a Halloween day by day and here is her final page she created. For the page itself she used the largest page die from Planner Essentials 7 and decorated the page with a combination of different sets from the planner collection. She also used the beautiful Budding Florals from Ilse and Charlene.

Tanja Kabel created this very cute Boo card using the Princess die and dressed her up like a witch using the Halloween Accessories. What an adorable little witch. She decorated the background using the Spiderweb die. Make sure to check out Tanja’s blog for instructions.

Joseph Nguyen created this stunning decor wall hanger using a combination of dies from the Fantasy Flowers collection. To color the flowers he used different colors of Silk Microfine Glitter. Make sure to head over to Joseph’s Facebook page for ideas and tutorials.

Tina Guigui created this spooky Halloween card using the Scarecrow die in combination with the Castle Folding Card die that can we used on a flat card as well. Love the colored background and the matching colors from the scarecrow hat and t-shirt.

Anita Izendoorn created this collection of cards using the Cat die set in combination with the Pumpkin and Halloween Accessories set. Love the coloring and the pretty purple backgrounds. Anita created more beautiful Halloween cards that you can check out on her blog.

From cards with many accessories we move to this Bootifull card created by Suzanne Canon showing simple yet elegant. For the sentiment she used the Beautiful die from the “Beautiful and Amazing” set and combined this with the Fitted Ovals and Dog die sets to create the ghost. What a fabulous idea.

Karen Ostergard created a black cat perfect for Halloween using the Cat die set. For the Sentiment she used the Spooky Sentiments with the matching die from Labels 1. Karen picked the perfect Halloween paper for her background. What a great card.

Annette Green created this adorbale scarecrow card using the Scarecrow die in combination with dies from the Planner Essentials Collection. She added some branches using the Berry Branch and some little leaves from the Pumpkins set. Love the papers she picked to make this card. Annette created some easy step-by-step instructions on her blog.

Katelyn Grosart created this adorable treat box for Halloween using the Pizza Box die set. She decorated the box with the Spiderweb and the Pumpkin dies and added a sentiment from the Spooky Sentiments set. Love this idea. Make sure to check out Katelyn’s blog for instructions.

Hello Pumpkin!!!

September 16, 2020

I love Halloween, and I love pumpkins!!!

No Halloween without pumpkin. I love everything about them; the way they grow, the beautiful leaves, the curls and the enchanting flowers and then those delicious orange pumpkins, so beautiful!!

I’ve tried a few times to grow them in my garden, but I can’t get past the flowers. I think I’m doing something wrong. But also the flowers are beautiful so I buy the pumpkins in the shop or in the garden centre.

On this page no pictures of pumpkins because it’s not quite yet the season although I already saw beautiful plants in my area. Not in my yard this time.

Today again a little further with my Halloween calendar, day 3 of October.

The funny Dracula is from a set by Tim Holtz. Furthermore, only Elizabeth Craft Designs stamps and dies used.

The base is made with set 5 of the Sidekick planner, then I made a layer with die set 21 Note Pieces.

With a little stencil (own collection) I wrote the text Almost Halloween and stamped the text Hello Pumpkin. I will show you later how I did it.

I edited this text with black embossing powder.

The pumpkins stamps are from the ECD Halloween clear stamp set. I colored them with the watercolor palette set. Such beautiful colors! I made reinforcers out of the little pumpkins by giving them a hole with the Crop a dile, it looks like a big mouth 😉

I have to continue with my planner because October is getting pretty close!!

This is all I’ve used for this page.

I promised to show you how I stamped my sentiment. This is how I did it. Sometimes I don’t want to use the whole stamp but a part of it like here. This is a stamp from the Halloween collection “spooky sentiments”. The part I didn’t want to use I taped with washi tape. I then inked my stamp and just before stamping I removed the tape. You do have to work a little fast as otherwise your ink already dries up so make sure you have everything ready to go. I’ve stamped with Versafine, which last for quite a long time. Then I sprinkled embossing powder over it and heated it, then the stamp is even sharper and with a nice shine.

This is what I wanted to show you today. I hope I inspired you a little bit.

See you next time,

Have a great day ?

Marjolijn

Beware!!!!

August 12, 2020

Anyone who knows me a little, knows that I love Halloween. I like dress-up parties, theme parties and everything that has to do with witches. In a past life I must have been a witch once, lol.

This year I will make an October day by day so that I can count down to the 31st…..HALLOWEEN!

Today I show you page 1 of my Halloween Day By Day.

I work in the sidekick planner, which is a really nice format for this special month.

This time I made a planner pocket top loading, just like in the big planner. I made this myself with a little imagination. On my blog I showed earlier how to make this pocket. See it HERE.

The pocket insert will be my first page of my Halloween DBD. I decorated the pocket with a few cute stamps and dies. I stamped the cute witch and the bats (halloween party) on soft finish cardstock and colored it with the watercolor palette.

With the Note pieces Planner Essentials set I made the tag to put in the pocket. I finished it with the tab from the planner filmstrip set.

I also made the frame for a photo that you can add later. The lantern die is included in the Art journal set of streetlights.

The page is finished with reinforcers from the Planner Essentials set 11. I made the date with filmstrip numbers.

I made this nice pendants, which might be more to come later, by stamping the stamps from the Halloween party set on shrink foil. They are colored in with pencil. I carefully cut them out, gave them a hole and let them shrink with the heat tool.

Here and there I added an accent with a white gellyroll pen and they got a layer of glossy accents.

This is the page I wanted to show you this time. Hope you enjoy it and hope you love Halloween as much as I do!

Have fun,

Marjolijn.

Hocus Pocus

October 15, 2019

Hi Friends! It’s EK popping in to create a little Halloween Fun. My family’s favorite Halloween movie is Hocus Pocus, and it occurred to me, that I could make my own bit of witchy fun using the Halloween Accessories and some creative coloring.

Step One: Die cut all the pieces you need from some 90lb Soft Finish Cardstock using both the Halloween Accessories die set and the Spider Web die set.

Step Two: Color up the accessories and assemble using Kids Choice Glue. I used a combination of cool grays for the cauldron (C5, C7, C9). I used E31, E34, and E37 for the bristles on the broom stick, while I used E81, E84, and E87 for the handle and spoon. I used G02, G05, and G09 for the bubbles and sludge.

Step Three: Color up the Witch’s Hats and assemble with Kid’s Choice Glue. I themed each of the hats after each of the three witches from Hocus Pocus. I colored a blonde hat (Y000, Y00, Y02 and Y06) to represent Sarah, a gray hat (W5, W7, W9) to represent Mary, and a reddish hat (E13, E07, E09, E19) to represent Winifred.

Step Four: Cut a piece of Bonnie Blue Soft Finish Cardstock to 12×6 inches and score and fold to make a 6×6 card base. Then spray and splatter the card frame with some Distress Oxide Spray. I used Mermaid Lagoon.

Step Five: Die cut out the movie title’s letters using the Blackboard Alphabet letters from some Spring Green Soft Finish Cardstock.

Step Six: Using a copic maker, give the title a little shading. I used both a YG13 and N2 copic.

Step Seven: Trim the spider web into half and adhere it to the corners of the card frame with some Kids Choice Glue.

Step Eight: Using both Kids Choice Glue and 6mm Clear Double Sided Adhesive, adhere the rest of the pieces of the card to the card frame.

I just love how this card came out and can’t wait to send it to my best friend who loves this move even more than I do. I think without stealing any intellectual rights, I was about to absolutely capture the feel of the movie.

Let me know in the comments below if I put a spell on you! Until then, Happy Crafting.

Eat, Drink & Be Scary

September 17, 2019

Hello – Samantha here! Today I am sharing a Halloween-themed card. Halloween might not be wildly celebrated here in Australia – but I have always enjoyed the colour schemes and fun images associated with this holiday. I also enjoy eating candy and chocolate…

Instructions:

Step 1: Using black cardstock die cut the spider web and adhere this to a black card base measuring 10.5cm x 15.5cm .

Step 2: Using bright pink cardstock die cut the spider web – use the negative pieces and insert these into the negative space of the black outlined spider web.

TIP: Adhere Clear Double Sided adhesive to the back of the pink card before die-cutting to make the adhering process quick and easy.

Step 3: Repeat step 2 to fill in the remaining negative spaces using bright orange and purple card or specialty paper.

Step 4: Adhere Double Sided Adhesive to black card stock and die cut the spiders 3x.

Step 5: Remove the release sheet to expose the adhesive layer and apply a generous amount of Silk Microfine Glitter (Basic Black). Brush off excess glitter and return it to the jar, then polish with a fingertip to bring out the maximum sparkle.

Step 6: Using watermark ink – stamp the sentiment. Apply a generous amount of white embossing powder and heat set with a heat gun/tool. Trim to size as shown.

(Optional) Add machine stitched detail to the spider web.

Step 7: Assemble card – use foam tape to adhere the sentiment and spiders. Embellish with enamel dots and a twine bow. Adhere to an A6 side folding card base.

Happy Crafting!
