Cardmaking Craft Drops ModaScrap Paper Flowers Soft Finish Cardstock

Happy Thanksgiving!

The holiday is almost here! I hope you’ll all be celebrating it together with family and friends. It truly is about Faith, Family and Love. 

Today I’ve done a card (6” x 6”) which has different flowers than I normally use. The painting in the frame is a primitive Tole painting of a Pilgrim family I painted last year for a wooden frame where I interchange my painted boards for each holiday. It seemed perfect for this card. 

The layer of background paper is from the Wood Effects pack. I shaded the wheat then rubbed some white chalk on the tips to highlight them. 

The flowers, wheat and frame are from ECD’s ModaScrap dies. The leaves and berry branches are from ECD, as well. They are more delicate flowers than usual, but work up well. 

I’ve also used ECD’s new ‘Craft Drops’ for the berries. (Metallic Gold) Of course there is the wonderful ladybug, but I’ve made her by using red and black Nuvo drops on my Teflon mat, then using white and black gel pens for her eyes and the dots on her shell. 

My computer helped me with the words on the frame, and I had a Thanksgiving stamp in my ‘stash’. For the center of the flower I used Yes!  glue, rolled into a small ball then rolled in gold/yellow prills.

Let Love Bloom

Hello! Welcome! Samantha here, sharing my love of all things gold and glittery… I was so excited to get my hands on the new Craft Drops that I wanted to share a different way of using them. A perfect match with the latest release Cherry Blossom Branch die.

Card Instruction:

Step 1: Die cut the Blossom branches and adhere these to Kraft cardstock.

Step 2: Using different shades of pink and purple card – die cut the blossoms.

Step 3: Using a small brush or finger spread the Craft Drop paste on to the edges of the blossoms.

Step 4: Stamp the sentiment.

Step 5: (Optional) Add machine stitched details.

Step 6: Adhere all the Blossoms.

Step 7: Adhere Double Sided Adhesive to pink cardstock. Remove the release sheet to expose the adhesive layer and apply a generous amount of Silk Microfine Glitter (Light Gold). Brush off excess glitter and return it to the jar, then polish with a fingertip to bring out the maximum sparkle.

Step 8: Die cut the remaining blossom dies. Adhere these to the blossoms on your card front.

Step 9: Embellish the card with sequins and a twine bow. Adhere card front to an A6 card base.

I love how shimmery the gold sparkles off the blossoms – the photo doesn’t do it justice!

Hi, Luciana is here! Today I’m sharing a tutorial for a card inspired by the warm autumn colors.

Step 1. From a metallic cardstock, cut out a set of Garden Notes – Vintage Tin Milk Can. Use the Copper – Silk Microfine Glitter and a Quinacridone Gold acrilic color to create a rusty effect.
Using the White Soft Finish Cardstock 240gr, cut out:
1 set of Garden Notes – Wheat Sheath;
2 set of Garden Notes – Hawthorne Berries.

Step 2. Use an eraser and the medium ball stylus on the back of the Wheat Sheath to model it.

Step 3. Use the tweezers, the medium ball stylus and molding pad to model the leaves of the Hawthorn.

Step 4. From the White Soft Finish Cardstock 240gr, cut out 6 sets of Garden Notes – Calendula ( except for the stem). Color them with the medium that you prefer.

Step 5. Use the eraser and the small ball stylus to model the smaller part of the flower. For the others pieces use the medium ball stylus and the molding pad. Then adhere two set of each size, layering from the smaller to the bigger one.

Step 6. Use the leaf tool and the leaf pad to create a vein on the leaves of the Calendula. Add some details with the ball tool and the molding pad.

Step 7. Create 2 circles of the White Soft Finish Cardstock 240gr, using the 3rd and 4th circle from the set Dashing Circles . Use also both the dies to create a frame, putting the two dies one inside the other. Die cut the word NOVEMBER from the set Planner Months. Assemble the pieces like the pictures below.

Hello welcome! Anyone excited about Christmas and counting down? I know… perhaps it’s still a little bit too early but at least I’m all organised in the Christmas card department with this adorable Penguin stamp.

Card Instructions:

Step 1: Adhere 10mm and 6mm Double Sided Adhesive Tape to purple card stock. Trim into strips. Remove the release sheet, apply a generous amount of Silk Microfine Glitter (in Lavender). Brush off excess glitter and return it to the jar, then polish with a fingertip to bring out the maximum sparkle.

Step 2: Cut strips from different shades of purple cardstock.

Step 3: Adhere the strips to white paper measuring 9cm x 9cm.

Step 4: Trim off excess strips, then die cut the Large snowflake die.

Step 5: Stamp and die-cut the penguin.

Step 6: Colour the penguin in your preferred colouring medium.

(Copic Marker Colours: C0/C2/C4/C5/C7 BV00/BV01/BV02/BV04/BV08)

Step 7: Heat emboss the sentiment.

Step 8: Assemble card. Adhere snowflake, (Optional: Add machine stitched details to card), adhere penguin, sentiment. Embellish with twine and enamel dots.

Cardmaking Inspiration from the Design Team Joset Designs Soft Finish Cardstock

Hocus Pocus

Hi Friends! It’s EK popping in to create a little Halloween Fun. My family’s favorite Halloween movie is Hocus Pocus, and it occurred to me, that I could make my own bit of witchy fun using the Halloween Accessories and some creative coloring.

Step One: Die cut all the pieces you need from some 90lb Soft Finish Cardstock using both the Halloween Accessories die set and the Spider Web die set.

Step Two: Color up the accessories and assemble using Kids Choice Glue. I used a combination of cool grays for the cauldron (C5, C7, C9). I used E31, E34, and E37 for the bristles on the broom stick, while I used E81, E84, and E87 for the handle and spoon. I used G02, G05, and G09 for the bubbles and sludge.

Step Three: Color up the Witch’s Hats and assemble with Kid’s Choice Glue. I themed each of the hats after each of the three witches from Hocus Pocus. I colored a blonde hat (Y000, Y00, Y02 and Y06) to represent Sarah, a gray hat (W5, W7, W9) to represent Mary, and a reddish hat (E13, E07, E09, E19) to represent Winifred.

Step Four: Cut a piece of Bonnie Blue Soft Finish Cardstock to 12×6 inches and score and fold to make a 6×6 card base. Then spray and splatter the card frame with some Distress Oxide Spray. I used Mermaid Lagoon.

Step Five: Die cut out the movie title’s letters using the Blackboard Alphabet letters from some Spring Green Soft Finish Cardstock.

Step Six: Using a copic maker, give the title a little shading. I used both a YG13 and N2 copic.

Step Seven: Trim the spider web into half and adhere it to the corners of the card frame with some Kids Choice Glue.

Step Eight: Using both Kids Choice Glue and 6mm Clear Double Sided Adhesive, adhere the rest of the pieces of the card to the card frame.

I just love how this card came out and can’t wait to send it to my best friend who loves this move even more than I do. I think without stealing any intellectual rights, I was about to absolutely capture the feel of the movie.

A Simple Wedding Card

Hello everyone! Diane here to propose to you a different, but simple, wedding card. I love weddings in the fall, don’t you? Here are the steps to make this card.

Step 1: Background

  • Cut 12 X 6 inches White Soft Finish cardstock (110 Lb) and fold in half (to make a 6 X 6 inches card).
  • Cut a 5 3/4 X 5 3/4 inches square out of dark green cardstock.
  • Cut a 5 1/2 x 5 1/2 inches square out of light green cardstock.
  • Cut a 5 1/4 x 5 1/4 inches square out of gold cardstock.
  • Adhere each layers on top of the other using some Transparent Double Sided Adhesive Tape.

Step 2: Flower background

  • Die cut out of White Soft Finish cardstock the background for the flower using the fifth size from the middle of the Dotted Scallop Circles #1172 die set.
  • Ink up a working surface or glass mat with yellow Distress Ink, spritz with water and gently pick up the color with the white background. Let dry a couple of minutes or use a air gun to speed up the process.
  • Ink up the working surface again but this time with green Distress Ink, and repeat the previous step.
  • Adhere the scallop background onto the card background.

Step 3: The Shasta Daisy

  • Using the Garden Notes Shasta Daisy # 1521, die cut the petal for one flower out of White Soft Finish cardstock .
  • Die cut the small centers plate once out of yellow cardstock.
  • Shape the leaves and the petals using the 4 Pieces All Metal Tool Set.
  • Adhere the flower on the scallop background using Kids Choice Glue.

Step 4: The sentiment

  • Out of White Soft Finish cardstock, die cut a label using the Planner Lables – Planner Essentials dies #1658 die set.
  • Die cut the word “Congrats” in gold cardstock, using the Words 1 – Celebration #1465 die set.
  • With the Kids Choice Glue, adhere the word on the label.
  • With foam adhesive squares, adhere the sentiment on the card.

Step 5 : This is love…

  • Out of both green cardstock , die cut the word “LOVE” in the Planner Essentials 3 #105 die set.
  • Glue both “Love” on top of the other, off setting them a little bit.
  • With Kids Choice Glue, glue the flower on the scallop circle, slightly on the left and glue the word “Love” slightly on the right of the flower.

Clean And Simple Die Cut Cards With DIY Foam Stamps

Hello everyone, it’s Sanna Lippert here today with another guest design team project share. This post started off with a simple question: have you ever used the die to cut out the stamped image you just made?

I found the question very interesting, so I gave it a try and these cards are a result of that experiment.

Here is what I did:
1. Take your die cut die DIY foam stamps and apply three colours of Distress Ink and for the second set use Distress Oxide inks onto the foam stamp.
2. Spray water mist onto the inked stamp to create a “faux watercolour look”.
3. Now die cut the stamped images using the same die cut dies you used originally to create the DIY stamps. This is a little bit tricky, as you need to figure out where to place the die cut die THRU the paper. Preferably, place the image againts a window/light box, for easier placement.
4. You can either adhere the images onto the card base with a glue pen OR attach Clear Double Sided Adhesive Sheets onto the stamped paper BEFORE die cutting. This makes adhering much easier.
5. Adhere onto card bases and then stamp sentiments on black cardstock with embossing ink and using white embossing powder heat set with a heat gun.
6. Attach to the card base with 3D foam pad, add faux stitching around the edges of the card with a gel pen. If you want to, apply black ink splatters for decoration.

There are, of course, easier ways to create these images:
a) die cut the image from white cardstock and then ink the die cut image with stamp inks; OR
b) ink a piece of white cardstock and then die cut it.

This technique I share today, shows another way of incorporating your with die cut dies created DIY stamps into cardmaking. You need a little bit of patience, but in the end you get a really nice artsy looking images!

It’s that ‘Magical’ season-Halloween!
This is one of my favorite seasons! Besides all the colors of fall, children trick-or-treating, witches, skeletons, and getting out all my Halloween decorations, it really is a FUN season. Hopefully the weather has become crisp and the smell of fallen leaves abounds. 

This is a 6 “X 6” card. I found a magical “skull“ moon to use as a background behind the “stitched“ rectangles. See the children on their way to get “goodies“?

I also found “skull“ paper to use for the pottery pitcher, to which I coated with diamond glaze.

Chrysanthemums come in all the perfect colors for Halloween. Ivy vines (these colored to be sweet potato vines, as Susan showed in one of her tutorials) and the Berry branch with Nuvo Crystal Drops– sweet lilac- is behind the ivy.

I thought some fine cord would be interesting here in there, so I added some ‘loops’, along with a spider! The word Magic is one of Suzanne Cannon’s. All the other dies are Susan Tierny Cockburn’s Garden Notes.
