Heart You Teacup

Hi! It’s Suzanne here today with an embarrassingly easy project for Valentine’s Day – or any day, really! It’s simple to personalize your loved one’s mug or glass using craft vinyl. This is adhesive vinyl, sometimes referred to as sign vinyl, and you can use it for creating banners, decals and bumper stickers.  The one I used is called Oracal 631 and is not permanent.  It is great for indoor and short-term outdoor use.  It works well on most smooth non-porous surfaces including walls, glass, mirrors, wood, metal, tile and plastic.  It won’t damage the surface or leave an adhesive residue when removed within two years. This is the vinyl you can use for walls. If you use it for dishes, you should hand wash them.  (Oracal 651 is the vinyl with stronger adhesive and might withstand the dishwasher.)

Starting today Elizabeth Craft Designs is running a contest to go along with this project.  All you have to do leave a comment on this post and you will be entered to win A Way With Words – Love, Thank You and Calligraphic Elements Dies plus an exclusive Elizabeth Craft Designs mug.  The winner will be chosen on Tuesday, February 9th at random, good luck crafters!

Love – A Way With Words

January 23, 2016

Happy Saturday! It’s Suzanne here today, celebrating the release of fourteen new A Way With Word dies with Love!  I’m sharing a delicate card which can be easily assembled on short notice for someone special.  If you’re strapped for time and need a card, the A Way With Word dies are a perfect solution.  You can customize the way you use and decorate words to suit the occasion and the recipient – girlie or masculine, elegant or whimsical, in whatever way you like.

With Valentine’s Day around the corner, I’ve gone with pinks and greens. I’ve chosen to use some of the dies from Susan’s Garden Club and the brand new Premium Palette Cardstock (which is beautiful to work with and comes in fabulous colours!).  After four days of working in close proximity to the wonderful and talented Susan Tierney-Cockburn at the Craft & Hobby Association’s conference in Anaheim last week, I simply had to try my hand at making some of her amazing flowers!  making my own!  I’ve started very humbly with her Garden Edges Tulips, tiny little low-relief tulips all in a row.

Instructions

  1. Form a 5-¾ inch square tent-fold card base from white cardstock. Die cut one Love from pale pink and one from dark pink cardstock. Die cut the Carolina Window and Shutters from medium green and the row of tulips from dark green cardstock. Die cut a set of pale pink tulip petals from pale pink and one set from dark pink. I love you Owl

April 23, 2015

Hello everyone,

It’s Joset here and today I would like to show you a card that I made using some new dies and Peel-Offs from our latest release. The dies that I used will be available at the end of this month and the Peel-Offs will be available the first week of May. I fell in love with the new Owl Peel-Off which is also available in a die. I colored on top of the Warm Diamond Silk Microfine Glitter. If you’re new to this technique, make sure to check out the YouTube video by Els. There is a link to the video in step 5 below. Let’s get started!

Owl Joset

1. Cut pink cardstock 8-1/2″ x 5-1/2″. Score and fold in half.

2. Die cut one Accordion Oval page from pink pattern paper. Cut out center oval and trim long side tab. Then trim each side of the page slightly. Adhere to card front.

3. Optional: Add Transparent/Silver Glitter Border along the outside.

4. Add Transparent Double-Sided Adhesive to a piece of white cardstock, large enough to fit your Owl Peel-Off plus the little heart.

5. Transfer peel-offs to the adhesive following the steps shown in this video by Els. Once you have applied Silk Microfine Glitter, color peel-offs using alcohol markers.

6. Fussy cut peel-offs using Fine Pointed Scissors.

7. Die cut 4 flowers and centers using Bunch of Flowers 3 from Pink and Light Pink Iridescent Shimmer Sheetz. Make sure to use your Metal Adaptor Plate for cutting Shimmer Sheetz. Tip: for the flower centers, apply Shimmer Sheetz to Double-Sided Adhesive first before die cutting.

8. Die cut 3 Flourishes using Flourishes and Branches from Green Iridescent Shimmer Sheetz. Tip: apply Shimmer Sheetz to Double-Sided Adhesive first before die cutting.

9. Cut a small piece of white cardstock for sentiment. Apply I Love You Peel-Off.

10. Assemble your card as shown in the picture at the beginning. Adhere flowers, flourishes, Owl and heart Peel-Off. Use foam adhesive for sentiment and heart.

I hope you will enjoy creating your own I love you Owl card. See you next time!
