Gnome Sweet Gnome

September 5, 2022

Hello all. Jackie here today with a little Halloween/Autumn card using the mushroom house die set 1796. I have made the wizardy gnome able to stand forward from the house and still be able to fold flat for posting.

Step one:

Die cut and build the wizard as normal then use a white gel pen to add the jagged line, then add the broom from die set – witch 1906 slightly bend the fingers around the boom.

Step two:

Next die cut and build the mushroom house, add extra yellow paper behind the windows to give the effect of a light on.

Step three:

I added pumpkins from die set – hay ride 1909

Step four:

To attach the wizard. Make a small Z shape from strong cardstock then glue one end to the house wherever you want your wizard to stand.

Step five:

Glue the wizard to the Z piece ensuring he stands on the floor when the card is stood upright. You can wiggle him in place whilst the glue is still wet.

This Z fold piece could work for a number of different designs creating a fun 3d look that folds flat. I hope I have inspired you to have a go – Happy crafting Jackie x

Make a Wish

September 14, 2020

Hey everyone! It’s EK, and I am popping in with just a little bit of fairytale magic. Are you as in as much love as I am with the new Storybook Collection from Joset as I am? I am just loving the little bit of fantasy this collection is delivering, since I think we could all use a little break from reality. I am especially loving the two new Shaped Card Frames, and today I am playing around with the new Mushroom House Folding Card.

Step One: Die cut the piece of the Mushroom House Folding Card die set using 90lb Soft Finish Cardstock.

Step Two: Blend ink onto the piece of the mushroom frame (there are three pieces). I used Distress Ink in Victorian Velvet and Seedless Preserves for the mushroom cap, Old Paper for the underside of the mushroom cap, and Antique Linen and Tea Dye for the step of the mushroom. Using 6mm Clear Double Sided Adhesive, adhere the pieces together.

Step Three: Blend ink onto the accessories of the die set. I used Milled Lavender and Seedless Preserves for the door, window frames, flowers, and lock.

I used Iced Spruce and Mowed Lawn for the grass and the centers of the flowers. I used Scattered Straw and Tea Dye for the windows. The step and smoke pipe were blended with Hickory Smoke and Pumice Stone.

Finally, the mini mushroom was colored with the same inks as the larger card frame.

Step Four: Using Kids Choice Glue, adhere the accessories onto the card frame. I could have stopped here, but I thought the little mushroom house needed an inhabitant.

Step Five: Die cut the piece of the Raccoon die set using 90lb Soft Finish Cardstock.

Step Six: Blend ink over the pieces of the Raccoon die cut. I used Hickory Smoke on the dark gray pieces.

Pumice Stone was used to color the lighter gray areas.

Finally, Black Soot was used to color the darkest portions of the the raccoon.

Step Seven: Assemble the pieces of the raccoon using Kids Choice Glue.

Step Eight: Using both 6mm Double Sided Clear Adhesive and Kids Choice Glue, adhere the Raccoon to the card frame.

Step Nine: Using the new Once Upon a Time Sentiments stamp set, stamp a sentiment onto the card frame using black ink.

Do you like shaped cards as much as we do? To whom would you send a mushroom card to? Let us know in the comments below. Until then, Happy Crafting!
