Retirement cards

May 7, 2020

Hello everyone, it´s Sanna Lippert here again today with my May guest design team card tutorial. I needed two retiment cards for colleagues and wanted to use Elizabeth Craft Designs dies for creating them, because they have several that are just perfect for this occasion.

Here are the steps, on how to create this card:

Step 1: Take a white card base and die cut piece of additional carstock with Adventure Edges to create a DIY stencil. Then using the self-made stencil, apply yellow Distress Ink onto the background to create a cloud pattern.
Step 2: Die cut the waves and the palm tree scenery from white Soft Finish Cardstock using the Palm Trees and Ocean Edges die cut dies.
Step 3: Ink the various pieces with blue, yellow, green and brown Distress Ink tones.

Step 4: Adhere the inked pieces onto the card, starting with the waves. Use Clear Double Sided Adhesive Tape for the bigger parts and Kids Choice Glue for the smaller pieces. Also, the tweezers are very helpful, when adhering (or inking) tiny pieces on place.
Step 5: Now add a stamped sentiment and sun onto the card. For this card I used the Beach Sentiments (the sun) and the Build Your Own Sentiments 1 clear stamp sets.
Step 6 (optional): Add some white splatterns onto the waves using white acrylic paint or like I did, pigment sticks and water.

I also created a second card using the exactly same steps, but instead of using the island, I used a sailboat die cut die. Sadly, this die cut die is discontinued, but I added links to altenative products into the supply list that would work on a retirement card as well.

I did the exact same steps, like on the first card, but instead of using the Build Your Own Sentiment 1 stamp set I replaced it with Ahoy Sentiments, because it better suited the boat theme. I hope you don´t mind me using a discontinued die cut die on this card? I tried to find you nice alternatives from the store and also did! You could use the Sailor´s Life stamp and die sets to create a fun sailboat image for this card or replace the boat with a hot air balloon – also listed in the supply list. Both these products would fit the theme of retirement and new adventures very well.

Like always, I´ve again recorded a star-to-finish video for you to watch. I hope you like it!

See you soon with another fun project share! Happy crafting!
xxx, Sanna

Oceans Of Joy Frame Card

April 14, 2020

Hi everyone, it’s Tina here. I hope everyone is staying safe during this unprecedented times. Once in a while we need to take our mind off of what is happening in the world and find a positive outlet. My outlet is card making. I put the music on and start to create. Today’s card is inspired with the last happy time I had just before we were on lockdown. The ocean. Below you will find the steps to create your own Oceans of Joy Frame Card.

Step 1 – Trim White Soft Finish Cardstock to 8 1/2” x 5 1/2”, score at 4 1/4” and fold in half for a vertical side fold (A2).

Step 2 – Diecut Adventure Edeges (clouds die) using scrap Cardstock to use as a stencil. Place on top of White Soft Finish Cardstock trimmed to 5 1/2” x 4 1/4” and apply ink to the edges to create clouds. Repeat this step several times filling the Cardstock until half way. Adhere to card using 3mm Clear Double Sided Adhesive Tape.

Step 3 – Diecut Diving Accessories (fish) in Green Cardstock and Blue Cardstock. Optional use an Alcohol Marker to create some shading.

Step 4 – Diecut Ocean Edges in various Blue Cardstock. Adhere each layer and fish using Kids Choice Glue.

Step 5 – If you have the Garden Notes Frame It Stitched Ovals die then diecut it using White Soft Finish Cardstock trimmed to 5 1/2” x 4 1/4”. If you don’t have it placed Fitted Ovals using White Soft Finish Cardstock trimmed to 5 1/2” x 4 1/4”. This will create a frame. Adhere to card using Foam Tape.

Step 6 – Stamp Splish Splash Sentiment on the last wave from the bottom using Versafine Onyx Black Ink.

Step 7 – For added interest and sparkle adhere some Clear Jewels to create bubbles.

This card can used be used many occasions by changing the sentiments and/or colours. It can definitely be used for front liners during this crisis. Below is a link to all the products used. Thank you for stopping by and Happy Crafting!

You are Mermaizing

March 31, 2020

Hello – Samantha here. Welcome! Today I am sharing a fun shaker card using a few of Joset’s latest stamps and dies. Seriously – this card is NOT as difficult as it looks but its does require a lot of paper!

Card Instructions:

Step 1: Using cardstock (in different shades of blue) die cut three waves using the Ocean Edges dies. Adhere these (shown below) to a light blue card front measuring 10.5cm x 14.5cm.

Next, Die cut one more of the waves using blue card and then die cut the ocean floor using the Sea Weed die and two shades of yellow card stock.

Step 2: (Optional) Using organza/netted material, trim the top and sides to match the die cut waves and card front edges. Using a sewing machine stitch three sides of the material to the card front, insert a handful of sequins between the material and the card front, sew up the opening.

TIP: If you don’t have a sewing machine to stitch the edges, cut the organza material slightly larger and fold each edge around the card, adhering the material to the back of the card front.

Step 3: Adhere the die cut wave and yellow floor to the card front, overlapping the shaker feature.

Step 5: Adhere Clear Double Sided adhesive to light pink cardstock. Remove the release sheet to expose the adhesive layer and apply a generous amount of Silk Microfine Glitter (Diva). Brush off excess glitter and return it to the jar, then polish with a fingertip to bring out the maximum sparkle.

Step 6: Using card stock and the microsilk glitter card, die cut the pieces of the mermaid. Using blending card, die cut the face, body and arms.

Step 7: Colour in the mermaids face, body and arms using Copic Markers E00, E000, E01 and R20.

Step 7: Assemble the mermaid. Adhere the pieces together.

Step 8: Stamp the sentiment on yellow card, trim, then adhere it to the card front.

Step 9: Die cut the seaweed and stars. Adhere these to the card front.

Step 10: Embellish the card with a twine bow and some sequins. Adhere card front to an A6 side folding card base.

This card would be great with or without the shaker feature. Personally, I love the fun element of shaking the sequins around. I hope you try it at home!

Happy Crafting!

Samantha

You are my Guiding Light and how to create custom-made Sentiments

March 25, 2020

Hi there,

it’s Tanja here and today I would like to show you how to create this card and how to make your own custom-made sentiments:

Step 1: Die Cutting

  • die cut a background panel and a wave border from watercolor paper with one of the Stitched Rectangles and one of the Ocean Edges
  • die cut the Lighthouse elements from white Soft Finish Cardstock

Step 2: Add Color

  • color the background with Distress Oxide Ink (Tumbled Glass, Faded Jeans) and a Blending Brush
  • add water droplets for more texture
  • add color to the wave border with Distress Oxide Ink (Salty Ocean, Chipped Sapphire) and add some splatters with watered-down Distress Oxide Ink Chipped Sapphire
  • for the seafoam ink up the edge of the wave border with Versamark and heat-emboss it with WOW! Seafoam White embossing powder
  • color the lighthouse with Alcohol Markers

Step 3: Assembly and Finishing Touches

  • assemble the Lighthouse and the background – use clear double-sided adhesive and liquid glue
  • add white highlights with a white gel pen

Step 4: Create a custom-made Sentiment

  • there a several ways to create custom-made sentiments: you can use calligraphy or just your handwriting or a Labelmaker … in this case I used a Vintage Typewriter to type my sentiment onto sturdy white cardstock
  • cut the sentiment apart and ink up the edges with Distress Oxide Ink Pumice Stone
  • adhere the panel to a grey cardbase

I hope you got inspired.

Hugs,

Glitter Turtle

March 22, 2020

Hey Friends! It’s EK and today I am trying to create a simple ocean background for the new Sea Turtle die set. I really think this new turtle is super cute, and she needs the perfect ocean background to swim in…and what’s more perfect for an ocean background then a bunch of glitter!

Step One: Trim a piece of 90lb Soft Finish Cardstock to 4.25×5.5 inches. Cover the cardstock in a sheet of Clear Double Sided Adhesive.

Step Two: Die cut the top of the cardstock using one of the waves from the new Ocean Edges die set.

Step Three: Peel back the protective film from the double sided adhesive. Add Silk Microfine glitter to the sticky side one color at a time. I used Silver, Royal Blue and Cool Diamond Silk Microfine Glitter.

Step Four: Die cut the Sea Turtle from some 90lb Soft Finish Cardstock.

Step Five: Using watercolor pencils, color the die cut pieces.

Step Six: Using a watercolor brush, activate the watercolor pencil. Using Kids Choice Glue, adhere the pieces of the turtle together.

Step Seven: Adhere the glitter cardstock to an A2 card frame using some 10mm Clear Double Sided Adhesive.

Step Eight: Using both 10mm Clear Double Sided Adhesive and Kids Choice Glue, adhere the turtle to the card frame.

Step Nine: Stamp a sentiment on the ‘white space’ of the card from the Splish Splash Sentiments stamp set.

I love the combination of the ‘realistic’ turtle with the less than realistic ocean background.

I think all the glitter really makes the turtle stand out! Let us know in the comments below your favorite way to use Silk Microfine glitter. Until then, Happy Crafting!
