Make A Wish Mini Slimline Card

May 8, 2022

Hi everyone, it’s Tina here. With the weather warming there is a lot of squirrels in my yard in the trees, grass and crossing on the fences. It gave me the inspiration for my card. Below is the steps to create your own card.

Step 1 – Trim White Soft Finish Cardstock to 7” x 6”, score at 3 1/2” and fold in half for a vertical side fold card. (Mini Slimline)

Step 2 – Diecut Adventure Edges (cloud) using a scrap piece of Cardstock to use as a stencil. Place the diecut on the card front and apply ink to the edge. I used Distress Oxide Tumbled Glass. Move the diecut down and repeat until the end.

Step 3 – Diecut Slimline Adventure Edges (fence) using Kraft Cardstock and (grass) using Green Cardstock. Add some inks in brown to the fence and adhere to card front using Foam Tape. Stamp Once Upon A Time Sentiment using Versafine Onyx Black Ink to the middle of the grass diecut. Adhere to card over the fence using Kid’s Choice Glue.

Step 4 – Diecut Squirrel using White Soft Finish Cardstock. Color in using any medium of your choice. I used Copics. Assemble using Kid’s Choice Glue except for the arm and adhere to card using Foam Tape.

Step 5 – Diecut Farm Accessories (sunflower and stem) using various colors of Cardstock. Assemble and adhere with the Squirrel’s arm using Kid’s Choice Glue.

Step 6 – Diecut Once Upon A Time Accessories (cloud) using White Soft Finish and (sun) using yellow Cardstock. Adhere to card using Kid’s Choice Glue for the sun and Foam Tape for the cloud.

Watercolor Spring

March 25, 2021

Hey Friends! It’s EK and today I am playing around with Joset’s die cut building scene Once Upon A Time die set and some watercolors. I have over the years successfully created with copic markers and die cut built pieces. I have played around with colored pencils, distress inks, and distress oxides with success. Well, today I am breaking out my watercolor palette and seeing if I can be successful once again.

Step One: Die cut the Once Upon A Time die set out of Watercolor paper.

Step Two: Using ECD’s Watercolor Palette, watercolor the die cut pieces.

Step Three: Using liquid adhesive, build the die cut pieces into their images. I used Kids Choice Glue.

Step Four: Using a piece of watercolor paper, create a watercolor background scene that is simple but shows both sky and grass. Let dry. Using 10mm Clear Double Sided Tape adhere the background to an A2 card frame.

Step Five: Adhere the mushroom and clouds to the background.

Step Six: Layer the rest of the die cut pieces into the scene.

Step Seven: Add a sentiment from the Once Upon A Time sentiment stamp set in pale blue ink.

Step Eight: To add more texture to the project, add Transparent Craft Drops onto the butterfly, reeds and flower center.

Step Nine: The card needed even more texture to ground everything, so using watercolor pencils, flick in grass blades in two shades of green.

Step Ten: Activate the grass with a watercolor brush to blend out the flicks.

What do you think? Was this experiment with die cut buildables and watercolor successful?

Would you be will to try this technique? Let us know in the comments below. Until then, happy crafting.

Smile Flower Tag

September 8, 2020

Hi there,

it’s Tanja here and I created this watercolor flower tag using the whimsical Once upon a Time Accessories die set:

Step 1: Die Cutting

  • cut out a tag with the help of the smaller tag die from the Planner Essentials 26 set and the flower, the sun and some clouds from the Once upon a Time Accessories set

Step 2: Coloring

  • normally, I use Alcohol Markers to color my die cuts and add extra shading with Distress Ink but this time I tried something different
  • color all the elements with watercolors
  • I realized that I needed some grass too so I also cut two grass borders using the Adventure Edges die set

Step 3: Assembly

  • add some color to the background of the tag with Distress Oxide Ink Tumbled Glass and a Blending Brush
  • assemble the tag using liquid glue and double-sided foam adhesive

Step 4: Sentiment Stamping and Finishing Touches

  • stamp the sentiment from the Build your own Sentiments 1 set with Versafine Deep Lagoon into one of the clouds
  • thread a piece of natural and a piece of turquoise twine through the hole of the tag

I hope you got inspired.
