Organizing To Move

February 9, 2020

Hello everyone! Annette Green here again to share more of my Greenville planner pages. Today’s pages are about the early signs of progress toward our move. The house is in disarray, there’s paint swatches all over the walls, and my craft room is being reduced by half – which is a feat in itself!

While sorting through my craft room, I came across some tags I had experimented on with Distress Oxides, and some pages I created with my Gelli Plate. From a big stack, I pulled the greens, blues and yellows to coordinate with my Greenville planner.

I adhered one of the Gelli printed pages to the back of my existing page in my planner. This was the first paper in the photo above (far left) with a totally white background. I added some Vintage Photo Distress Ink over the entire surface, some stenciling of a die-cut clock, and then I stamped the dot pattern with black ink, using the Background Stamps 1 set.

From the dictionary collage page, I die-cut this pattern using the Planner Patterns die, then trimmed off the top right corner.

I adhered the cut piece to a graph patterned paper then trimmed around. This will become a unique pocket for my left page.

For my pages I die-cut the round hole reinforcers from this tag. I ended up die-cutting several more elements as you’ll see in the next few photos. I loved using up things I had in my stash!

I think my new favorite die set is Planner Essentials 21 Note Pieces. There are SO many great frames, fold-over tabs, banners, tags, and arrows! I’ve been keeping a list of what bigger ticket items we’ve sold and what is left to sell so I made a record of it here in our early stages of preparing to move. This will slip into the pocket on my left hand page. The photo on the left is my messy craft room.

My righthand page is cut from the Planner Essentials 6 set. The photo shows a mural I painted over 20 years ago is now being covered up with a neutral gray paint. It’s symbolic to me that things don’t last forever, only memories.

There are a lot of emotions that come with moving away from a home we’ve been in for 20 years. I’m not sad, actually rather excited, cut at the same time feeling sentimental. I think I’ll be glad I documented this process when I look back on it in the future.

Thanks so much for stopping by. Don’t fret if you can’t leave a comment here. If you wish to, you can hop over to my blog.

I Turtle-y Love You Card

February 5, 2020

Hi Everyone, it’s Tina here. Joset Designs’ new release Under The Sea is so adorable to create some sea/beach scene cards. I couldn’t resist the Sea Turtle character and the super cute sentiment which inspired my card. Below you will find the steps to create your own I Turtle-y Love You Card.

Step 1 – Trim White Soft Finish Cardstock to 8 1/2” x 5 1/2”, score at 4 1/4” and fold in half for a horizontal side fold card. (A2)

Step 2 – Apply ink onto a White Soft Finish Cardstock trimmed to 2” x 5 1/2”. Only ink the top section (this will be the top section of the waves) I used Distress Oxide Broken China.

Step 3 – Diecut Ocean Edges to the strips created in Step 2. Adhere to card using 3mm Clear Double Sided Adhesive Tape.

Step 4 – Stamp Splish Splash Sentiment using Versafine Onyx Black Ink on the bottom left side of the cards front.

Step 5 – Diecut Sea Turtle using Coloured Cardstock or White Soft Finish Cardstock and colour in with any colour medium. For the shell I used the top layer as a template by marking in pencil all the pieces. I Coloured inside the marked areas by applied varied colours in brown alcohol marker to create texture. Assemble the Sea Turtle using Kids Choice Glue. Adhere to card using Foam Tape.

Step 6 – Diecut Peek-A-Boo Love Set (the hearts only) using White Soft Finish Cardstock. Adhere to card using Foam Tape to create air bubbles in hearts.

You can use this card for lots of occasions by changing the sentiment and instead of using hearts with the bubbles from the Sea Turtle set. Below is a link to all the products used. Thank you for stopping by and have a wonderful day.

Greenville Planner Dashboard And Intro Pages

January 26, 2020

Hello! Annette Green here with my first Planner Essentials blog post!

2020 will be a year of big changes for my husband and I, since we’ll be moving to Downtown Greenville, South Carolina by the Summer. In our efforts to stay organized with all the tasks we’ll be faced with and to document the progress, I thought I’d create a separate planner just for this purpose. This will be a great place for photos, but also for lists, goals, accomplishments and all the details therein.

My dashboard features a hidden list of our favorite things about Greenville, tucked behind a large tag with our photo.

It’s interesting to see our photo through the vellum window. This protects the photo nicely on the front page, while also encouraging viewers to pull the tab to see more.

The intro pages start the story and show a few photos from our recent visit to Greenville.

Here are a few tips for using the Planner Essentials dies, stamps and other ECD products to make the job easier. When die-cutting letters and more intricate pieces, I use Clear Double-Sided Adhesive sheets on the back of my cardstock and paper.

Washi tape is great for holding small dies in place, especially when using a magnetic platform. I’ve used the Planner Essentials 23 Alphabet Trio set.

After cutting a tan cardstock page using the Planner Essentials 4 die, cut parchment paper 3 3/4″ x 6 1/2″ (9.525 cm x 16.51 cm) which is slightly larger than the window opening to come. Adhere title letters and make a list.

Die-cut a pattern paper pocket from Planner Essentials 22 Planner Pocket 4 – Top Loading then die-cut the opening with the stitched window die. (You’ll need to do a bit of planning for position so you can view your list through the window.) For the hole-reinforcers, die-cut two from coordinating cardstock and adhere.

Adhere either clear acrylic or vellum (like mine) onto the back of the pocket page.

Adhere the pocket page to the tan base page.

Die-cut more words and numbers. I’ve cut mine from green and black cardstock and layered them to create a drop shadow effect. Adhere small reinforcers on the page holes. I’ve used Planner Essentials 27 Retro Numbers Trio and the Reinforcement Variety Pack.

To create a tag for the pocket, die-cut black cardstock using the topper die as shown. My tag measures 3 7/8″ x 8 5/8″ (9.8425 cm x 21.9075 cm) after die-cutting.

Die-cut the fold-over piece from green cardstock and stamp “Pull•Pull•Pull” around the hole using Pieces of Life 1 – Numbers & More stamp set.

Cover the tag with pattern paper, then adhere the fold-over tab piece to the top.

Slide the tag into the pocket to check the fit and make any necessary adjustments.

Adhere a photo with a green cardstock mat to the tag, again planing the positioning so it shows through the vellum window. I’ve stamped This is Us from the Circle Labels stamp set.

Insert the tag into the pocket page.

Onto the back of the dashboard page, adhere pattern paper and add hole reinforcements. Die-cut a notepad twice (tan and black) using Planner Essentials 21 Note Pieces. I’ve added Greenville again with two colors, and stamped a circle for the upper right corner.

I’ve adhered a chipboard tag from Graphic 45’s Life’s A Journey collection and added black reinforcement circles around the holes.

Die-cut another base page and stamp the background. I’ve used Background Stamps 2 with tan ink. Die cut the photo frame pieces using Planner Essentials 24 – Photo Frame Pages. I’ve cut the background portion from coordinating pattern paper and the front piece from black cardstock. Adhere this unit to the base page, add photos and captions.

Insert pages into your planner. I’ve used the Espresso Planner Cover which will go nicely with my Greenville documentation.

Hope you enjoyed my tutorial! See you next time.

A Way With Words Cardmaking Soft Finish Cardstock

You Are Perfect

January 25, 2020

Hello Everyone!  It’s EK, and today I am popping in with a non-Valentine’s Valentine’s Day card.  I like giving out cards to friends and family on the 14th, but I also like it to look like a card for any other day of the year.  Today I am playing around with the negative image of a die cut to create this any-time Valentine’s day card.

EK Gorman, Elizabeth Craft Designs, Perfect a

Step One: Trim a piece of Dusky Lavender Soft Finish Cardstock to 12×6 inches.  Score and fold the the cardstock to make a 6×6 inch card frame.

IMG_E8606

Step Two:  Using the A Way with Stencils – Flourished Frame stencil, apply it over the card frame and blend in ink.  I used Worn Lipstick Distress Oxide.

IMG_E8607

Step Three:  Lift the stencil and lay it down to the side of the original image and blend more ink.

IMG_E8608

Step Four:  Repeat on the opposite side.

IMG_E8609

Step Five: Die cut the sentiment from the card frame using the You Are Perfect die set from the A With Words Line.  I tack down the dies where I want them using a little bit of blue tape.

IMG_E8610

Step Six:  Using a scrap of 90lb Soft Finish Cardstock and 3mm Clear Double Sided Adhesive, cover the die cut area of the die cut in the inside of the card frame.

IMG_E8611

Step Seven: Add the die cut sentiment back into the negative space, tacking it down with some blue tape.

IMG_E8612

Step Eight:  Using Kids Choice Glue, adhere back in the pieces from the die cut.  Carefully lift back out the die cut sentiment.

IMG_E8613

Step Nine:  Repeat step 7 and 8 using the other die cut sentiment.

IMG_E8614

Step Ten: Stamp on heart and flutter images onto the stamp using the Soar Collection stamp set.

IMG_E8615

Step Eleven:  Fill in the hearts with some color.  I watercolored ink from a Worn Lipstick Distress Marker.

IMG_E8616

Step Twelve:  Fill in the wing with a contrasting color.  I watercolored Black Soot Distress Marker into the wings.

I hope you enjoyed seeing how I created this fun negative effect card.

Valentine’s Day Card

January 23, 2020

Hello everyone, it’s Sanna Lippert here! I’m so thrilled to be able to continue sharing projects as a guest blogger here on Elizabeth Craft Designs blog again!!! For today’s post I wanted to create a Valentine’s Day card as sweet as sugar, but one that is still really easy to make… just in case you want to make a series of them!

Here is how to create the card:

Step 1: Pick several sheet of Soft Finish Cardstock in various pink and light purple tones. I used a dark and light pink one as well as a very light purple/lilac tone.
Step 2: Die cut borders from the chosen cardstock colors – one border set per colour – using the Valentine’s Edges die cut set.
Step 3: Next adhere a piece of Clear Double Sided Adhesive onto a piece of white cardstock.
Step 4: Die cut the white, adhesive covered piece using the solid heart die of the Heart Cutouts die cut die.
Step 5: Next die cut the inner piece of the Heart Cutouts heart from the dark pink Soft Finish Cardstock. Adhere these pieces together.
Step 6: Place the heart into a coffee filter and pour Bright Cranberry Silk Microfine Glitter over the tiny hearts and brush the residue off with a paint brush. Pour the residue back into the glitter jar and polish the glitter using your finger.
Step 7: Take a piece of black cardstock and stamp a Valentine’s sentiment with embossing ink – using the Love Sentiments clear stamp set – and heat emboss using white fine embossing powder. Fussy cut – or use a banner die cut die – into right size.
Step 8: Adhere all pieces onto a white card base using Clear Double Sided Adhesive tape for the border pieces and the heart and 3D foam for the sentiment. Decorate with Craft Drops (optional).

I’ve also recorded a short process video for you to watch to give you a better idea on each and every step! I hope you enjoy it!

Wishing you a lovely, crafty day!
xxx, Sanna
