Thinking of You

July 2, 2015

ECDFoxEaselwm

Hi everyone,

It’s Frances Byrne here. For my project today I have created a Stand Up Card using the Fox Peel-Off Stickers.

Here is how I created my card:

1. Creating the Peel-Off Sticker images:

a.  Before reading the instructions below, you can see a video Els created using this technique here.

b.  Place a sheet of Transparent Double-Sided Adhesive onto cardstock that is big enough for your peel-offs and remove the release sheet.

c.  Be careful not to touch the adhesive or it will leave fingerprints in the glitter.

d.  From the Foxy Peel-Offs, place the fox sleeping; fox standing and 3 paw prints onto the release sheet (sticky side up).

e. Place the cardstock that has Transparent Double-Sided Adhesive, sticky side down, on top of the peel-offs (In other words, place sticky onto sticky.)

f.  Use release sheet in handling the cardstock until you cover the adhesive with glitter so you don’t leave fingerprints.

g.  Cover the adhesive with Warm Diamond Silk Microfine Glitter, polish glitter with your finger and brush excess off.

h.  Color your images as desired using alcohol-based markers on the glitter.

i.  Cut around all peel-off pieces and attach to the card.

* Coloring Tips for alcohol-based markers and glitter: Remember that when using alcohol-based markers, such as Copics, work quickly and don’t let the tip of the marker linger on the glittered surface. Too much alcohol ink can dissolve the adhesive and remove the glitter. It takes very little ink to color the surface of the glittered image so work with a light touch. To get the faded look, lay a line of color down along one edge of the section you want to color and then use your Blender pen to pull the color across the rest of the image. You may have to lay more color down to get deeper shading after you blend it out.

ECDeasel card base

2.  The Card Base:

  • Cut a piece of rust cardstock 5 -1/2″ x 8-1/2″. Score at 2-1/8″ and 4-1/4″. Fold along score lines as shown above. Lightly score at 6-3/8″ but do not fold.

3. Position the Hinge Stand Up Helper die from the Stand Up Helpers 3 – Hinge die set  so that the bottom of the die is lined up along the 6-3/8″ score line created in step 1 and approx 3/4″ from the left side of the card. Die cut, remove the die from the card and now line it up again on the score line but this  time approximately 3/4″ from the right side of the card.

  • Place a piece of Transparent Double-Sided Adhesive to black cardstock that will be large enough to fit the Stand Up Helper Hinges die twice. Die cut so that the adhesive is on the bottom, trim along the bottom edge of the grass and adhere on top of the Hinge Stand Up Helper on the rust card. Add a Gold Glitter Dot Peel Off Sticker over the holes of the Hinge Stand Up Helper piece.
  • Cut a piece of rust cardstock 5-1/2″ x 2-1/8″ and adhere to the panel behind the Stand Up Helper to hide the opening.

ECDFoxEasel4wm

4. Cut a piece of black card that measures 5-1/2″ x 1-7/8″. Cut a piece of designer paper that measures 5-1/2″ x 1-6/8″. Layer the two pieces together and adhere to the front of the base of the card as per photo above.

5. Adhere the Sleeping Fox to the left hand side of this panel using foam tape. Add the three paw prints to the card referring to photo above for placement.

6.  Roughly trim around the sentiment Thinking of You from the Thinking of You Large Peel Off Stickers. Peel off any excess black peel-off sticker that may be around your image until you just have the sentiment as per photo above.

  •  Cut a piece of Transfer Sheet large enough to fit over the sentiment. Remove the protective backing and place the tacky side of the Transfer Sheet onto the word “Thinking”. Burnish with a bone folder or your fingers and carefully lift the Transfer Sheet checking to ensure that all of the pieces lift at once. You can see Els’ video using this technique HERE.
  •  Now move the Transfer Sheet with sentiment attached to it over to the card. When it is in the right spot, place it down onto the card and rub the front of the Transfer Sheet to release the pieces onto the card. Carefully lift the Transfer Sheet to check and make sure all of the sentiment pieces are now on the card. (Don’t remove the Transfer sheet until all pieces are in place). Repeat this process to place the words “of You” underneath the word “Thinking”.

ECDFoxEasel3wm

7. Cut a piece of black card that measures 5-1/4″ x 4″. Cut a piece of designer paper that measures 5″ x 3-3/4″.

  • Use the rolling hills die from the Outdoor Edges die set and cut a piece of green designer paper that is approx 1-1/4″ high. Adhere this to the bottom of the designer paper cut above, and then layer this to the black card.
  • Die cut the tree from the CountryScapes The Woods die set from kraft card.
  • Die cut leaves three times from green card.
  • Cut away left hand tree from die cut above and highlight edges of tree using copic marker. Attach to the top right hand corner of card as per photo above.
  • Attach leaves to tree as per photo above.
  • Attach Standing Fox to the lower left hand side of card using foam tape.

ECDFoxEasel2wm

8. Adhere the main panel to the lower half of the front of the card as per photo above.

Elizabeth Craft Designs June Designer’s Challenge – Peel-Offs

June 30, 2015

Hello everyone and welcome to our June Designer’s Challenge! We at Elizabeth Craft Designs love our Peel-Off stickers so we thought about dedicating this month’s challenge to these beautiful outline stickers. Peel-Offs can be used for many different techniques and even the negative part of the Peel-Off sticker can be used so you’re not wasting anything! Let’s have a look at the projects our designers created.

First project is from Angela Beavers who turned a simple gift bag into this really fun bag with an ocean beach theme. To decorate the bag she used the Summer and Maritime Peel-Offs. The large palm tree is from the Palm Tree and Pail die set and the small palm trees from the Beach Edges. Find more info on Angela’s blog HERE.

Angela bag

Next project is from Jackeline Rojas who made this beautiful stand up card featuring the Kitchen Time Peel-Offs. She created the apron shape using the main die from Tags & More 2 – Deco and the oval from the Accordion Oval Card. Love this idea and the colors she used. For step by step instructions, visit Jackie’s blog HERE.

11222905_936043653128593_7044256827719454845_nFrances Byrne created this beautiful Rectangle Accordion card using the Baby Peel-Offs colored on top of the Silk Microfine Glitter. She used the Katie Stars Frame Edges, the Paris Edges and the Alphabeth 1 – Caps to decorate her card. Love how all the colors just match perfect. Find more inspiration on Frances’s blog HERE.

The Summer Peel-Offs are so much fun and can be used for many different projects. Raquel Mason created a mini album for pictures or notes. To create the album she used the Tags & More 8 – Lattice die and the Alphabet 1 – Caps for the “Summer 2015”. Love how Raquel used the negative of the Peel-Offs to decorate her pages. See more HERE.

Candy Spiegel created this stunning scrapbook page using the Foxy Peel-Offs, the Leafy Branch die and the Alphabet 1 – Caps. The bright pictures match perfect with the green background and the lay out is beautiful. Add a little note to remember these beautiful keepsakes forever. Find more inspiration on Candy’s blog HERE.

A Year of Seasons

June 13, 2015

Hello Everyone,

It is Jackeline back as a guest designer. The project I designed for today is looking to take you in a quick , but Magic trip from Spring, when the flowers bloom and the colors shine to the Winter, when the snowflakes fall.

IMG_4065

Let’s get started:

1. Cut 4 pieces of white cardstock and 4 pieces of patterned paper 4 1/4″ x 8 1/2″. Adhere the patterned paper pieces to the white cadstock. Place the tag top die from Tags & More 8 – Lattice at the top of one of the pieces and run it through your die cutting machine to create the tag shape. Repeat this process for all other pieces.

2.- . Apply Transparent Double-Sided Tape to white cardstock. Transfer the outline of Jackie’s Dolls in Oval peel-off to the adhesive side and, using the glitter coloring technique, add Warm Diamond Silk Microfine Glitter to peel-off and color. Watch Els demonstrate this technique HERE
.
3.- Embellish each tag using a variety of dies and peel off’s.
Summer Tag:
  • Die cut the sand in dark yellow cardstock using the beach edges.
  • Die cut 4 umbrellas, 2 in red cardstock and 2 in dark green cardstock.
  • Die cut the beach bucket in red cardstock and the shovel in green cardstock using the decorative pieces from The Palm tree & pail Die.
  • Using the glitter coloring technique, work in the sandals from the new peel off “Summer”.

IMG_4066

Spring Tag:

  • Die cut the grass in green cardstock using the outdoor edges.
  • Die cut the branches using the new leaf branch.
  • Die cut flowers in purple and yellow cardstock using decorative pieces from season tree. Decorate the center of the yellow flowers with gold glitter dots.
  • Die cut bees in black and yellow adhesive Velvet sheets, and white shimmer sheet.

IMG_4067

Fall Tag:

  • Die cut the bottom embellishment in brown cardstock using the beach edges.
  • Die cut the all season tree in warm colors to create the autumn effect.

IMG_4068

Winter Tag:

  • Apply a piece of Transparent Double-Sided Tape to white cardstock large enough to die cut the bottom edges using the beach edges and the small snowflakes. Remove release sheet and cover edges with Warm Diamond Silk Microfine Glitter. Polish and brush off excess glitter.
  • Die cut four big snowflakes in sky blue cardstock.

IMG_4069

4.- Apply a piece of Transparent Double-Sided Tape to shimmer gold large enough to die cut 4 circles to be used as reinforcement on the top part of each tag, and 6 hinges to connect the tags.

I hope you enjoyed this tutorial and this helps you to find inspiration for your next project.

Pop it Ups Karen Burniston Designer Challenge – Accordions with DC Team and Friends

April 15, 2015

Hi, it’s Karen Burniston with the April Pop it Ups Designer Challenge. Each month I challenge my Designer Challenge team to use Pop it Ups dies for a specific theme. This month I invited each of the ten team members to invite one of their blogger friends to join the challenge. The ten guests each picked out an Accordion Album die and it was up to each pair if they wanted to coordinate their projects or do something completely different. You’re in for some amazing inspiration and are sure to find new blogs to bookmark as you peruse the work of the talented team and guest designers.

I just returned from the Collins Rep Group Spring Retailer Training Event in Boston where I launched a mini Farm Collection that will be shipping to stores at the end of April. I thought they would be perfect for my Accordion. I used the new Barn, Hay There, Brownie the Cow and Farm Greetings Clear Stamps.

BarnAccordionOpen

Here is the video tutorial:

When the album is closed you can see Brownie peeking through the upper window. Slide open the barn doors and you see a haystack.

BarnAccordionClosed

One of the techniques in the video shows how to create a debossed frame for an Accordion Album using Frame Edges. For my project I used the Katie Flourish Frame Edges.

Time to send you on a journey to 20 blogs to see amazing inspiration from the Designer Challenge team and 10 distinguished guests. In all cases you can click on the designer’s name to travel to their blog post for more information about techniques and supplies used. Have fun!

Helen Cryer is the queen of patterned paper and her creation for this month’s challenge is no exception. Check out these bright fun colors and the clever way she adapted Honey the Bear into a sock monkey! I love this project!

Helen_Circle

Rita Edwards is Helen’s guest. “I was so pleased that Rita agreed to be my guest for this challenge! We ‘met’ each other when we were both on the Elizabeth Craft Design DT, and I love all her work – she colours exquisitely, and the details on her cards are just beautiful!” writes Helen. I agree! Check out this Rectangle Accordion by Rita:Rita_Rectangle

Shelly Hickox can create one heck of a tunnel card using a technique with the Accordion albums. She has a link to her tutorial for this effect on her blog post. This month she incorporated the new Barn die into her scene. Love it!

Shelly_Rectangle

Lisa Hoel is Shelly’s guest this month. Lisa also converted the Rectangle Accordion into a tunnel card, but vertical for her “under the sea” creation. So clever! Writes Shelly; “When we were asked to invite a blogging friend to join in the Accordion die challenge, I knew immediately that I would choose Lisa Hoel. I’ve been a longtime admirer of Lisa’s and love the way she uses Karen’s dies. Her unique vision is a breath of fresh air – I knew she’d wow us and she definitely has!”

Lisa_Rectangle

I must say that when I saw Caz Counsell‘s creation for this month’s challenge I squealed with delight. Caz modified Dutch the Fox and Honey the Bear so they would be sleeping! What a clever idea and such a sweet card. She used the Circle Accordion.

Caz_Circle

Caz invited her friend Suzy Q to join the challenge and Suzy made this WOW! mixed Oval/Rectangle accordion. Says Caz; “This for me was a “No  Brainer”.  I chose my friend Suzie Q who I work with at Crafts U Love. Suzie makes lovely cards but unfortunately has suffered from lack of time and lack of mojo, I hoped in that choosing Suzie she might find her mojo and believe me she has!!” I agree!

SuzyQ_Rectangle

Fran Sabad styled Brownie the Cow so sweetly for this 3-page Rectangle Accordion also featuring the new Farm Greetings Clear Stamps. The yellow and brown color scheme is fabulous!

Fran_Rectangle

Vicki O’Dell is Fran’s guest this month. Says Fran; “I met Vicki online and she is one of the most creative and upbeat people I know!  She is all about DIY and gets involved in almost every craft out there!” Vicki chose the Circle Accordion and created a clever 3-page card with two connected pages and a third free-flowing. I love the serene feel.

Vicki_Circle

Donna Wright made an adorable baby album using the Star Accordion and matching Star Buddies peel-off stickers. She also incorporated the Star Fancy Frame Edges on her second page. What a sweet project!

Donna_Star

Sandy Diller is Donna’s guest and they both used the Star Accordion. Donna describes Sandy as “wonderfully talented” and I couldn’t agree more! Sandy not only flipped the pages to give the star a different look, but attached a clear spiral shooting through the album to suspend her floating stars. This is brilliant!

Sandy_Star

Frances Byrne shows off the new Cheepers the Chicken and Farm Greetings Clear Stamps on this fun 3-page Rectangle Accordion with Katie Star Frame Edges. I just love the colors and styling of this congratulatory album.

Frances_Rectangle

Maryann Einam joined the challenge as Frances’ guest. Maryann makes the coolest cards and this time used the Rectangle Accordion for a 4-page homage to shoes. Great sentiments, colors and imagery! Frances writes, “I chose my friend Maryann to be my guest for this month’s challenge as I know how much she loves Karen’s dies. We get together each month and enable each other when we go shopping out our favourite craft store.”

Maryann_Rectangle

Kelly Booth made this superhero birthday card using the Star Accordion. Kelly has the greatest way with color and this Star Accordion project is no exception! She used the Star Fancy Frame Edges to make it a bright fun explosion of stars. It’s super!

Kelly_Star

Alice Wertz is Kelly’s guest. Writes Kelly, “I love the way Alice’s coloring brings things to life and she has been a friend of mine for many years.” Alice colored some adorable pups to use on her Star Accordion. She used the striped frame edges from the Star Fancy set. Absolutely fabulous!

Alice_Star

Raquel Mason made this wonderful mixed Accordion to show off the new farm collection. She used all three new Characters and the Farm Greetings Clear stamps, plus Props1 and Props2. Love these party animals!

Raquel_Oval_Katie

Debra Hensley was invited to the challenge by Raquel. “I like Debra’s work because she has a great eye for the little details.  There’s always something extra or interesting on her cards,” says Raquel. Debra made this wonderful Star Accordion featuring the Star Buddies Peel-off stickers and the Palm Tree & Pail die. The glitter is so sparkly and I love the balloons!

Debra_Star

Alicia, Raquel’s 12-year-old neighbor, also participated in the challenge as Raquel’s guest. She did a great job with the Star Accordion making this birthday album. Says Raquel, “I enjoy crafting with Alicia because she’s so eager to learn and loves glitter just as much as I do!”

Alicia_Star

Summer Hills-Painter made this hilarious anniversary card featuring a “Hogs and Kisses” theme with Virgil the Pig (And Virgilina!) on the Fancy Accordion album. The color scheme is perfect! Summer’s guest had something come up and was unable to participate.

Summer_Fancy

Karen Aicken made an absolutely brilliant 4-page beachy Rectangle Accordion featuring Buster the Dog and the beach dies. She made the beer bottles using the Props2 Party Blower die. Brilliant!

Karen_Rectangle

Jackie Smith was Karen’s guest for the challenge. “I always looked forward to Jackie’s posts on the ECD Blog, as she has amazing way with texture and layers on her cards.” says Karen. Jackie made this amazing 4-page Rectangle Accordion with a Paris theme. All the layers are so intriguing! Love it.Jackie_Rectangle

Hopefully you’ve found plenty of inspiration this month and found some new designers to follow as well.

Join us May 13, 2015 for the next Designer Challenge, which is titled BARNS! BARNS! BARNS! The team will be using the new Barn die in a variety of clever ways.

Happy crafting!

Daisies & Roses: Towels & Cards

March 15, 2015

By Judi Kauffman

???????????????????????????????

I’m glad to be back as today’s Guest Designer. My projects: A pair of kitchen towels for our neighbor to thank her for hosting our morning coffee hour and a quartet of simple cards that incorporate the same peel-offs that I chose to use as stencils for the painted and stitched towels.

???????????????????????????????  ???????????????????????????????

???????????????????????????????  ???????????????????????????????

Here’s the how-to:

  1. Wash the towels to remove sizing (no fabric softener). Iron the towels (even if they are never ironed ever again…).
  1. Open the towel so it is flat on the table. Measure and center an outline peel-off on the towel about 6” from the bottom hem. Use painter’s tape to mask off a rectangle around the peel-off. Add a trio of outline peel-off bees or butterflies within the rectangle. Make sure all peel-offs are pressed firmly in place. I chose ovals with flowers, but you could pick circles with owls or dragonfly ladies or flower or any other shaped (enclosed) motif(s) you prefer.
  1. Cover work table with plastic bag and newspapers. Spread out the towel so it is flat and smooth. (Option: Tape the towel in place so it won’t move.) Following paint manufacturer’s instructions for using fabric medium, mix Black Plum acrylic paint and fabric medium together on a palette or disposable plate. Using a stencil brush to apply paint/medium mixture, fill the rectangle around the peel-offs, taking care not to let paint seep underneath the lines. Tip: Stencil brushes have stiff bristles and are used with a pouncing motion, paint is applied a little at a time – not in thick swashes like a regular paintbrush.
  1. When the paint is dry, lift up and discard the painter’s tape. Very carefully lift up the outline peel-offs and move them onto A-2 Kraft Brown cards. There will still be adhesive on the back; the outlines will now be matte Black Plum instead of shiny Black.
  1. To get the most from the peel-offs use a Sticker Transfer Sheet to move the negative pieces (leftovers) from the sheet onto two more A2 Kraft Brown cards.
  1. Use 1 strand of white Perle Cotton #5 to add touches of embroidery to the towels. I chose a mix of French knots, running and straight stitches.

???????????????????????????????    ???????????????????????????????

  1. Use black and white pens to add doodles and details to the cards.

Silk Microfine Glitter Butterflies

March 13, 2015

ECD Silk Microfine Glitter Butterflies

Hello my crafty friends! It’s Raquel Mason here today.  Usually I use markers to color on peel-offs, but today I wanted to show a different way to add color to peel-offs by using multiple colors of Silk Microfine Glitter.  Let me show you how I made this card.

1. For the base & background:

  • Cut 8.5″ x 5.5″ vanilla cardstock and score at 4.25″ for an A2 size base.
  • Adhere Transparent Double-Sided Adhesive on blue cardstock but do not take off backing.
  • Cut (2) blue cardstock pieces at 3.75″ x 5″.
  • Ink with blue and black Distress Ink. Ink black only around the outer edge.
  • Adhere one to the card front and one on the inside.

2. Shimmer Sheetz:

  • Cut Yellow Metallic Shimmer Sheetz at 3.25″ x 4.5″.
  • Emboss with Butterflies embossing folder.
  • Ink blue and black solvent ink over the raised areas.
  • Cut off .75″ x 3.25″ from Shimmer Sheetz and adhere to inside top of card. See last photo for placement.
  • Adhere the bigger Shimmer Sheetz on top of blue cardstock from step 1.

3. The tag:

  • Adhere Transparent Double-Sided Adhesive on pink and yellow cardstock but do not take off backing.
  • From pink and yellow cardstock, die cut one each 2.25″ x 4″ Tags & More 6 – Daisy tag shape.
  • Place the decorative die on top of the pink tag and die cut.
  • Adhere the yellow tag under the pink tag.
  • Ink with pink and black Distress Ink. Ink black only around the outer edge.
  • Thread ribbon through the hole.
  • Adhere to center of card base.

4. Butterflies (as shown in the photo below):

  • Place a 3″ x 5″ sheet of Transparent Double-Sided Adhesive onto 3″ x 5″ white cardstock and remove the release sheet.
  • Be careful not to touch the adhesive or it will leave fingerprints in the glitter.
  • Use Fine Pointed Tweezers to place the butterfly peel-offs onto the release sheet (sticky side up).
  • Place the cardstock that has Transparent Double-Sided Adhesive on top of the peel-off. (In other words, place sticky onto sticky.) See the photo below.
  • Use the release sheet in handling the cardstock until you cover the adhesive with glitter so you don’t leave fingerprints.

ECD Silk Microfine Glitter Butterflies pieces

  • As shown in the photo below:
    • Using non-stick scissors, roughly cut around each of the butterflies.
    • Cover the adhesive on each butterfly with Yellow, Bluebell and Peony Pink Silk Microfine Glitter.
    • Shake off excess, polish with your finger and brush off excess glitter.

ECD Silk Microfine Glitter Butterflies pieces 2

5. Cut out glittered images.

  • Color white edges with a black permanent marker to give a more finished look to your butterflies.
  • Adhere images to card front and inside of card. Use photos for placement.

6. Adhere Happy Birthday Peel-off to bottom right corner of tag on the card front.

Flower Vases

March 8, 2015

ECDFlowerVasewm

Hi everyone,

It’s Frances Byrne here today to share a card I created using the new Flower Vases 1 Peel-Off Stickers and one of the Garden Patch dies from Susan’s Garden line of dies.

Here is how I created my card:

1. Cut a piece of pink cardstock that is 5 1/2″ square when folded for the base of the card. Cut a piece of rust-colored cardstock 5  1/4″ square and layer this to the front of the pink cardstock. Next cut a piece of pattern paper 5″ square and add this to the front of the card.

ECDFlowerVase5wm

2. Use the grid die from the Garden Patch – 1 inches & Mini Daisy & Chrysanthemum die set to die cut two grids from pink cardstock. Overlap and adhere the two grids so they look like the photo above.

ECDFlowerVase4wm

3. Adhere the grid created in step 2 to the front of your card as shown above.

ECDFlowerVase3wm

4. Creating the flowers on the front:

  • Before reading the instructions below, you can see a video Els created using this technique here.
  • Place a sheet of Transparent Double-Sided Adhesive onto cardstock that is big enough for your peel-offs and remove the release sheet.
  • Be careful not to touch the adhesive or it will leave fingerprints in the glitter.
  • From the Flower Vases 1 Peel Off Stickers, place the Rectangle Flower Vases Peel-Offs & two of the single Flower Peel-Offs onto the release sheet (sticky side up).
  • Place the cardstock that has Transparent Double-Sided Adhesive on top of the peel-off. (In other words, place sticky onto sticky.)
  • Use release sheet in handling the cardstock until you cover the adhesive with glitter so you don’t leave fingerprints.
  • Cover the adhesive with Cool Diamond Silk Microfine Glitter, polish glitter with your finger and brush excess off.
  • * Color your images as desired using alcohol-based markers on the glitter.
  • Cut around all Peel-Off pieces and attach to the card using foam tape.
  • Color white edges with a black permanent marker to give a more finished look.

5. The Inside of the Card:

  • Before reading the instructions below, you can see a video Els created using this technique here.
  • Roughly trim around the negative Flower Vases Rectangle  which remains after using the Peel Off Stickers for your card.
  • Peel off any excess black peel off sticker that may be around your image until you just have the images as shown above.
  • Cut a piece of Transfer Sheet big enough to go over the Peel-Off image, remove protective backing from the Transfer Sheet and place this onto the negative portion of the Peel-Off Sticker sticky side down. Rub all over the top of the Transfer Sheet and carefully lift this off the negative image ensuring that the negative image lifts off with the Transfer Sheet.
  • Now place the negative image down on a piece of white cardstock which is 5″ square and rub all over the image. Carefully lift off the Transfer Sheet ensuring that the negative image stays on the white cardstock.

6. Stamp the Best Things in Life Sentiment using black ink to the top left hand side of the card as shown above.

7. Layer the white cardstock to the rust-colored cardstock which is 5 1/4″ square and then adhere to the inside of the pink base card.

Get Well Card- Coloring on Glitter

March 7, 2015

Hi Friends!

Debra here today. One of the first things that I learned and fell in love with from Elizabeth Craft Designs was using peel-off stickers that are adhered to cardstock covered with Transparent Double-Sided Adhesive and then glittered. Seeing color flowing over the sparkly, glittered surface was like magic to me – oh-so-beautiful and easy! You can hardly mess it up and the results are stunning every time. I created a Get Well Soon card featuring this signature technique to share with you today.

Instructions:

1. Start with the flowers:

  • Before reading the instructions below, you can see a video Els created using this technique here.
  • Place a sheet of Transparent Double-Sided Adhesive onto white cardstock that is big enough for your peel-offs and remove the release sheet.
  • Be careful not to touch the adhesive or it will leave fingerprints in the glitter.
  • Place the peel-offs onto the release sheet (sticky side up).
  • Place the cardstock that has Transparent Double-Sided Adhesive on top of the peel-off. (In other words, place sticky onto sticky.)
  • Use the release sheet in handling the cardstock until you cover the adhesive with glitter so you don’t leave fingerprints.
  • Cover the adhesive with Warm Diamond Silk Microfine Glitter, polish the glitter with your finger and brush excess off.
  • * Color your images as desired using alcohol-based markers on the glitter.
  • Cut around all peel-off pieces.
  • Color white edges with a black permanent marker to give a more finished look.

* Coloring Tips for alcohol-based markers and glitter: Remember when using alcohol-based markers, such as Copics, work quickly and don’t let the tip of the marker linger on the glittered surface. Too much alcohol ink can dissolve the adhesive and remove the glitter. It takes very little ink to color the surface of the glittered image so work with a light touch. To get the faded look as in the image on this card, lay a line of color down along one edge of the section you want to color and then use your Blender pen to pull the color across the rest of the image. You may have to lay more color down to get deeper shading after you blend it out.

2. Making the card:

  • Fold a piece of 8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″ white cardstock in half to create a standard A2 size card base.
  • Cut a piece of pattern paper 5 1/4″ x 4″ and another piece of that same pattern paper to 1″ x 4 1/4″ and ink the edges with brown ink.
  • Cut a piece of white cardstock 4 1/4″ x 3 1/4″ and a piece of salmon-colored cardstock 4″ x 3″.

3. Place the Get Well Soon Stand Up Helper die on the upper left edge of the salmon cardstock. Die cut and trim away excess from both sides of the die cut words.

4. Adhere pattern paper to card front.

  • Adhere Get Well Soon salmon cardstock to white cardstock.
  • Adhere glittered peel-off to salmon cardstock on pop dots.
  • Adhere the extra flower on a pop dot, over the main flower of the right flower vase, offset. See photo below for placement.
  • Add Corners and Borders Peel-Offs to the pattern paper to complete the front.

5. Decorate the inside of the card:

  • Adhere 1″ x 4 1/4″ strip of pattern paper to bottom inside about 1/2″ from the bottom.
  • Add colored and glittered flower with stem peel-off, corner, border and circles to complete.

Elegant Eggs for Easter

March 6, 2015

Eggs_Candy_Spiegel4

Hi, it’s Candy! It’s almost Easter and I love Easter eggs. They provide a blank canvas with so many possibilities. For these eggs, I started by painting paper-mache eggs. You can see how I did it here but you could use colorful plastic eggs or eggs made from glass or plastic. Get the kids involved and have fun!

Eggs_Candy_Spiegel

1. For the base: Place the bottom of the grass die (from the Outdoor Edges set) 1/4″ from the bottom of the cardstock and die cut.

2. Add a small strip of Transparent Double-Sided Adhesive to one edge as shown above, roll and adhere to the other end.

Eggs_Candy_Spiegel33. For egg 1 (in front): Apply a strip of Transparent Double-Sided Adhesive to go around the egg as shown above. Coat with Silk Microfine Glitter in a color of your choice. (Shown: Fire Opal). Polish and wipe off excess.

4. Die cut small flowers from the Bunch of Flowers die out of white cardstock. Ink with red ink as desired. Adhere to egg.

5. Add a Glitter Dot in a color of your choice to the center of each flower. (Shown: Gold/Silver).

Eggs_Candy_Spiegel46. For eggs 2 & 3 (in background): Adhere Glitter Flowers to the eggs in a color of your choice. (Shown: Transparent/Gold.)
