My Gratitude Journal
January 20, 2020Karen here today from Craftily Yours! In 2020, my “word of the year” is Gratitude. Life is SO much better that way, don’t you think? I am going to attempt to create at least one page per week about things for which I’m grateful. If I can do it, I’ll have an amazing treasure at the end of the year! And something to remind me of the good things when I have a sad day.

Happy crafting and happy planning!
Hey Friends! It’s a new year, so I have been revamping my planner. But this year I really wanted a cool art piece to be the cover. I wanted it to be something I would enjoy seeing al year long. And since I take great pride in my group of girl friends who enrich my life, I thought it might be fun to pull out the different lady stamps, drawn by Charlene, ECD has released this past year to decorate the inside of my planner.
Step One: Stamp the five female stamps released this past year onto some watercolor paper using some gray water resistant ink. The five ladies come from the Make a Wish, Halloween Party, Oh the Joy of Christmas, Moments of Life and Pure Spring stamp sets.
Step Two: Using watercolor makers, color in the skin tones. I used the Ecoline Beige Pink collection.
Step Three: Using watercolor or ink pencils color in the hair, lips and eyes of the ladies. I used Inktense pencils.
Step Four: Using a white gel pen, add reflection to the eyes. I used a Gelly Role Pen.
Step Five: Using watercolored pencils, color in the clothing. I traced around the edges of the stamp, and colored in a little bit when the heaviest shading would be. Then using a watercolor brush, I moved around the color.
I used Spectrum Noir AquaBlend watercolored pencils to color in all the clothing.
Step Six: Fill in the background with color. I used traditional watercolors.
Step Seven: While the watercolor is still wet, add powder watercolor to create more visual interest. I used Brusho in purple.
Step Eight: Add stamped sentiments. I used sentiments stamps from both Moments of Life and Pure Spring in black water resistant ink.
Step Nine: Die cut holes into the watercolor paper using the Planner Essentials 5 die set.
Step Ten: Trim the edges with scissors so it will fit nicely into your planner. I love these little Fine Pointed Scissors from ECD.
I just love how this came out. Yes, it might be a little purple, but it is great color to use to theme an entire calendar year.
I ended up coloring each of the ladies so that they would remind me of a dear friend.
Now all year long when I open my planner, I can be reminded of my friends who are more like sisters.
How are you going to spruce up your planner this year? Are you going to stamp fun pictures, layer inspiring papers or just ink everything up? Let us know in the comments below, and until then, happy crafting.

Planner Insert: Life Is A Collection Of Moments
January 7, 2020Hey Crafters! Katelyn here, sharing with you my Life is a Collection of Moments Planner Insert.
I love crafting with the Planner Essentials Collection of stamps and dies to create fabulous mixed media pages and inserts for my planners.
You’ll want to read below as I have a tutorial for you on how to recreate my insert at home!
Step One. Die cut the insert from the Planner Essentials – 5 die out of White Soft Finish Cardstock. On a clear stamp block, randomly put Wilted Violet, Cracked Pistachio and Mermaid Lagoon Distress Oxide Ink. Spritz the block with water and then stamp onto the insert. Dry the insert with a heat tool. Apply Jet Black Archival Ink to the splatter stamp from the Background Stamps 2 and stamp randomly on the insert. Reapply ink to the stamp as needed.
Step Two. Apply Emboss It Ink to the random equation stamp from the Background Stamps 3 and stamp randomly onto the insert. Reapply ink to the stamp as needed. Sprinkle Boho Blends – Turkish Bronze Embossing Powder over the stamped areas. Tap off the excess powder and emboss with a heat tool. Distress the edges of the insert. Ink the edges of the insert using Black Soot Distress Oxide Ink and a blending tool with foam.
Step Three. From the Planner Essentials – 5 die, die cut two reinforcements out of White Soft Finish Cardstock. Apply Jet Black Archival Ink to the splatter stamp and stamp randomly on each reinforcement. Ink the edges of the reinforcements using Black Soot Distress Oxide Ink and a blending tool with foam.
Step Four. From the Moments of Life stamp set, you’ll need the life is a collection sentiment. Apply Jet Black Archival Ink to the sentiment and stamp onto a piece of White Soft Finish Cardstock. Cut the sentiment into three strips. Ink the edges of each strip using Black Soot Distress Ink and a blending tool with foam.
Step Five. From the same stamp set, you’ll need the two circles. Apply Jet Black Archival Ink to each circle and stamp onto a piece of White Soft Finish Cardstock. Fussy cut each circle out. Ink the edges of each circle using Black Soot Distress Oxide Ink and a blending tool with foam.
Step Six. The last elements from the Moments of Life stamp set you’ll need are the two stars. Apply Mermaid Lagoon Distress Oxide Ink to the large star and small star and stamp onto a piece of White Soft Finish Cardstock. Reapply Mermaid Lagoon Distress Oxide Ink to the large star and stamp onto the same piece of White Soft Finish Cardstock. Apply Wilted Violet Distress Oxide Ink to the large star and small star and stamp onto the same piece of White Soft Finish Cardstock. Apply Cracked Pistachio Distress Oxide Ink to the large star and small star and stamp onto the same piece of White Soft Finish Cardstock. Fussy cut all of the stars out. Ink the edges of all of the stars using Black Soot Distress Oxide Ink and a blending tool with foam.
Step Seven. Adhere the reinforcement circles over top of the circles on the insert. Foam square the large circle to the middle left of the insert. Use adhesive and foam squares to adhere the small circle to the bottom right of the large circle.
Step Eight. Adhere the sentiment strips to the right side of the circles as desired.
Step Nine. To finish your insert, adhere the seven stars as desired onto the insert.
Thanks for joining me today! I hope that I’ve inspired you to create your own version of my Life is a Collection of Moments Planner Insert.
