Glitter Turtle

March 22, 2020

Hey Friends! It’s EK and today I am trying to create a simple ocean background for the new Sea Turtle die set. I really think this new turtle is super cute, and she needs the perfect ocean background to swim in…and what’s more perfect for an ocean background then a bunch of glitter!

Step One: Trim a piece of 90lb Soft Finish Cardstock to 4.25×5.5 inches. Cover the cardstock in a sheet of Clear Double Sided Adhesive.

Step Two: Die cut the top of the cardstock using one of the waves from the new Ocean Edges die set.

Step Three: Peel back the protective film from the double sided adhesive. Add Silk Microfine glitter to the sticky side one color at a time. I used Silver, Royal Blue and Cool Diamond Silk Microfine Glitter.

Step Four: Die cut the Sea Turtle from some 90lb Soft Finish Cardstock.

Step Five: Using watercolor pencils, color the die cut pieces.

Step Six: Using a watercolor brush, activate the watercolor pencil. Using Kids Choice Glue, adhere the pieces of the turtle together.

Step Seven: Adhere the glitter cardstock to an A2 card frame using some 10mm Clear Double Sided Adhesive.

Step Eight: Using both 10mm Clear Double Sided Adhesive and Kids Choice Glue, adhere the turtle to the card frame.

Step Nine: Stamp a sentiment on the ‘white space’ of the card from the Splish Splash Sentiments stamp set.

I love the combination of the ‘realistic’ turtle with the less than realistic ocean background.

I think all the glitter really makes the turtle stand out! Let us know in the comments below your favorite way to use Silk Microfine glitter. Until then, Happy Crafting!

I Turtle-y Love You Card

February 5, 2020

Hi Everyone, it’s Tina here. Joset Designs’ new release Under The Sea is so adorable to create some sea/beach scene cards. I couldn’t resist the Sea Turtle character and the super cute sentiment which inspired my card. Below you will find the steps to create your own I Turtle-y Love You Card.

Step 1 – Trim White Soft Finish Cardstock to 8 1/2” x 5 1/2”, score at 4 1/4” and fold in half for a horizontal side fold card. (A2)

Step 2 – Apply ink onto a White Soft Finish Cardstock trimmed to 2” x 5 1/2”. Only ink the top section (this will be the top section of the waves) I used Distress Oxide Broken China.

Step 3 – Diecut Ocean Edges to the strips created in Step 2. Adhere to card using 3mm Clear Double Sided Adhesive Tape.

Step 4 – Stamp Splish Splash Sentiment using Versafine Onyx Black Ink on the bottom left side of the cards front.

Step 5 – Diecut Sea Turtle using Coloured Cardstock or White Soft Finish Cardstock and colour in with any colour medium. For the shell I used the top layer as a template by marking in pencil all the pieces. I Coloured inside the marked areas by applied varied colours in brown alcohol marker to create texture. Assemble the Sea Turtle using Kids Choice Glue. Adhere to card using Foam Tape.

Step 6 – Diecut Peek-A-Boo Love Set (the hearts only) using White Soft Finish Cardstock. Adhere to card using Foam Tape to create air bubbles in hearts.

You can use this card for lots of occasions by changing the sentiment and instead of using hearts with the bubbles from the Sea Turtle set. Below is a link to all the products used. Thank you for stopping by and have a wonderful day.

Have A Fin-tastic Day –– Sneak Peek!

January 21, 2020

Hi there! It’s Tanja here with a sneak peek of Joset’s upcoming release! Today, I’m showing you how to create a cute card using the upcoming Whale die set.

Step 1: Die Cutting

  • cut out the elements for the little whale with its cute little hat from the Whale set from white Soft Finish Cardstock

Step 2: Coloring

  • color the elements with Alcohol Markers and add extra shading with Distress Oxide Ink (Black Soot, Hickory Smoke, Chipped Sapphire, Aged Mahogany)

Step 3: Assemble the Whale

  • assemble the whale using liquid glue
  • add highlights with a white gel pen

Step 4: Creating the Background

  • for the background cut out a stitched watercolor panel using one of the Stitched Rectangles
  • cut out a cloud border with the help of the Adventure Edges die set and three wave borders using the brand new Ocean Edges die set
  • add shading to the clouds and the waves with Distress Oxide Ink (Stormy Sky, Mermaid Lagoon)
  • stamp the sentiment from the coordinating Splish Splash Sentiments set with Versafine Clair Medieval Blue

Step 5: Finishing the Card

  • adhere the whale to the background using clear double-sided adhesive
  • add two strips of patterned paper to the left and right of the panel before adhering it to a cardbase

While I was creating the whale card my daughter Emily (9) crafted alongside me and she chose the new Sea Turtle die set and some seaweed and stones from the Seaweed die set for her project. Here is what she came up with:

I hope you got inspired. We can’t wait for Joset’s release!
