Christmas Crafting During Summer

June 26, 2021

Hey Friends! It’s EK, and I figured it is almost July, so why not started on my Christmas Cards. I pulled out a couple of Suzanne’s A Way With Words holiday dies and my Silk Microfine Glitter to play with and figured it was summer so I might as well play with a pink and teal color scheme.

Step One: On a piece Watercolor Paper, randomly paint pink and teal watercolors from the Watercolor Palette. Let dry.

Step Two: Splatter the watercolor paper with a heavy pink and teal watercolor paint. Trim the paper to fit an A2 card frame and using a 10mm Clear Double Sided Adhesive Tape adhere it to the card frame.

Step Three: Die cut both the A Way With Words Merry Christmas 3 die set and the A Way With Words Flourished Holly die set out of 8.5″x11″- 5 pack Double Sided Adhesive Tape.

Step Four: Peel the adhesive tape’s backing and adhere the holly back pieces and the Christmas die cut to the card frame.

Step Five: Using the Earth Glitter Palette Vintage Teal Silk Microfine Glitter, color the die cuts. ECD’s Brushes are perfect to wipe off excess glitter.

Step Six: Repeat step five with the holly berries back piece and the Merry die cut using Silk Microfine Glitter Bright Cranberry.

Step Seven: Finish the layers of Flourished Holly die cut by adding the holly outline over the bottom pieces.

Step Eight: Add Ice Teal from the Earth Glitter Palette to the holly outline.

While these color may not be traditional, I love how festive this holiday card turned out. Let us know in the comments below what non traditional colors you like to use on your holiday projects.

And don’t miss out! Suzanne’s Holiday Dies are priced to sell, so make sure you pick up yours before they are gone forever. Until then, happy crafting.

Clean and simple Valentine´s Day cards

February 7, 2021

Hello everyone and happy Sunday! It´s Sanna here again with my monthly guest design team project share. I´d like to share a set of clean and simple Valentine´s Day cards with you today. I love using Silk Microfine Glitter and what better occation to do so, than Valentine´s Day! There just cannot be too much glitter on a Valentine´s Day card!

For my first card I´ve recorced a start-to-finish video for you to watch, because I wanted to share how I work with Silk Microfine Glitter and Clear Double Sided Adhesive on such a card. I find it easier to explain the steps thru a video.

For this project I used the Fitted Hearts die set with various red and pink tones of Silk Microfine Glitter as well as the very versatile Build Your Own Sentiments 1 stamp set. See the used products listed at the end of this blog post.

For my second card I got the idea from the Fitted Heart dies. I wanted to use just one big heart as a focal point on a card and that gave me the idea to use the gorgeous Astry Scenery Washi Tape with the die cut die.

Here is how I created the card:

Step 1: Take a piece of paper and cover it with washi tape strips.
Step 2: Die cut hearts in two sizes (big and tiny) from the “washi paper”.
Step 3: Arrange the hearts onto the card base and adhere on place.

Step 4: Take a dark blue cardstock strip and heat emboss a Build Your Own Sentiments 1 stamp set sentiment onto the strip.
Step 5: Fussy cut into a banner with scissors and adhere onto the card with 3D foam pads.

Both of the cards are very easy to do, so if you are planning on doing plenty for Valentine´s Day, you could consider doing one of these ideas, maybe. Wishing you a lovely Valentine´s Day! Let´s send those cards out to family, friends and loved ones, especially this year they mean so much to so many people!

Happy crafting,
xxx, Sanna

A Way With Words Cardmaking Silk Microfine Glitter

Perfect

January 23, 2021

Hey Everyone! It’s EK, and I am popping in with a little black and white number today. It is amazing how keeping your color pallate simple, you can create a project with tons of impact. There is just something so classic about black and white, the sentiment dies from Suzanne really shine.

Step One: Trim a piece of black card stock to 4.25×5.5 inches. Layer with 10mm Clear Double Sided Adhesive. I used my crafting surface to help up the adhesive.

Step Two: Trim off excess tape and die cut cardstock with Stitched Indented Rectangle die set.

Step Three: Peel off top adhesive paper and pour Cool Diamond Silk Microfine Glitter over it.

Step Four: Adhere cardstock to an A2 card frame using 10mm Clear Double Sided Adhesive.

Step Five: Die cut A Way With Words You Are Perfect die set twice, once in black and once in white 90lb Soft Finish Cardstock.

Step Six: Adhere the white die cut over the black die cut and adhere both to the cardstock using liquid adhesive. I used Kids Choice Glue.

Step Seven: Finally add a few Craft Drops in White to the project. I used the drops to hide my glue flaws.

I know this card is incredibly simply but I feel it is in itself just perfect. Let us know in the comments below if you like using a black and white color palette as well. Until then, happy crafting.

Winter Wishes Snowman card

January 7, 2021

Hello and Happy New Year 2021! It´s Sanna here again with my January project share. I wanted to create a winter themed greeting card for this month and used the cute Jack Frost die by Joset with Planner Essentials Christmas Figures tree die to create the winter scene.

Here are the steps to the card:

Step 1: Die cut a strip of white paper with Adventure Edges to create a DIY stencil from paper. Use it to ink the background could pattern onto a white card base.
Step 2: Apply a Clear Double Sided Adhesive Sheet onto a piece of white Soft Finish Cardstock and die cut the tree from Planner Essentials 34 Christmas Figures die set. Make sure the adhesive is on the backside when die cutting the whole tree, but pointing towards you when die cutting the filigrane tree die piece. You will need the adhesive on top of be able to add glitter later.
Step 3: Now die cut the Snowflake from white Soft Finish Cardstock (also add an adhesive sheet on the back here too for easier adhering). Also die cut a few snowflakes using the Snow Globe die set, but this time again make sure the adhesive is on top.

Step 4: Using Distress Inks, apply color to the tree and the snowman parts. I used tones: Gathered Twigs, Old Paper, Black Soot, Evergreen Bough, Salty Ocean and Spiced Marmalade.
Step 5: Apply Cool Diamond Silk Microfine Glitter onto the filigrane tree piece as well as the snowflakes.

Step 6: Adhere the green inked tree onto the card base and attach the filigrane, glittered tree piece on top. Now build the snowman together and adhere all pieces on place.
Step 7: Now use the For You stamp set by Sue Smith in combination with Joset´s Winter Sentiments to create the sentiment: “Winter Wishes” and stamp that onto the bottom of the card with black stamp ink. Apply the glittered snowflakes onto the background and the card is done.

I´ve again recorded a start-to-finish video for you to watch. I hope it gives you an even better idea on each and every step of this card.

I hope you enjoy this little card tutorial and get inspired to create fun wintery cards yourself! Wishing you all a nice January!!

Happy crafting,
xxx, Sanna

Glitter & Templates

December 30, 2020

Karen here today, sharing a couple cards I made using Silk Microfine Glitter and the templates that are part of the Art Journal Collection. I also used some of the pretty papers and dies that are available here at Elizabeth Craft Designs. Now that Christmas is over, I thought I’d create a couple cards for Valentine’s Day!

LoVe the sweet Honey Bear die! He’s the cutest! I colored him with Distress Inks in Tea Dye and Antique Linen and a couple Copic markers. The Scalloped Heart die has a Fitted Heart Cut out of the center and is cut from Kraft cardstock. I then covered it with 101mm Double Sided Adhesive and used a stencil from the Pattern Stencil Pack. (The stencil really sticks – so do this with some caution!) With the stencil in place, I put down some Cool Diamond Silk Microfine Glitter and then CAREFULLY removed the stencil and put down Antique Silver. Here’s a close-up of that pretty glitter.

The sentiment is from the Bear Hugs set and is cut with a Stitched Circle Die. The background paper is from the Reminiscence Book.

The next card used the Florals of Winter dies. The “edge” die is covered with Silk Microfine Glitter in Cool Diamond (with White Soft Finish Cardstock – 90 lb) and Silver using a different stencil. The flowers are also from the Florals of Winter dies and are painted with the ECD Watercolors. Again, the sentiment is from Bear Hugs and is cut with the Diagonal Stitched Fishtails die. The background paper is from the Mystical Winter Collection.

Thank you for stopping by!

Craftily yours, Karen

Good morning!
I hope you are all ready for the Holiday Season and enjoying this festive time of year!
I love creating Off The Page Projects and I made these as name tags for gifts inspired by Els Christmas Ornaments! (you can find it here)

Step 3 – die cut many different pieces using different shades of green cardstock from the Create A Wreath, ink edges and use the red craft drops for berries and allow to dry
Step 4 – glue a loop of ribbon onto the top of the acorns to create the hanger

Reindeer tag
Step 1 – die cut a tag (using your favorite ECD tag die) and ink the edges and add a loop of ribbon
Step 2 – die cut Holly Jolly from Planner Essentials 15 using Double Sided Adhesive Sheets, add True Red Silk Microfine Glitter and adhere to the tag
Step 3- die cut, ink edges and assemble the Reindeer and adhere to the tag
Step 4 – adhere the tag to the pinecone

Step 5 – Adhere some of the wreath pieces cascading from the top of the pinecone
Step 6 – Tie a bow and adhere to the top of pinecone

Birdhouse
Step 1 – die cut, ink and assemble the Holiday Bird House using double sided adhesive and Cool Diamond Silk Mircrofine Glitter for the snow and Craft Drops for the lights
Step 2 – adhere a piece of ribbon to the back of the house and adhere the other side to the top of the pine cone

Step 3 – adhere in a falling cascade some of the wreath pieces you previously die cut
Step 4 – adhere one of the assembled poinsettias to the top of the pine cone and add more snow texture paste

Jingle Bell
Step 1 – loop a piece of ribbon through the top of the jingle bell that you added some snow texture to, so it hangs slightly below the pine cone

Step 2 – die cut a gift from the Flourished Christmas Minis using cardstock (ink the edges) and double sided adhesive and glitter and assemble with a loop of ribbon and adhere to cone

Step 3 – cascade many pieces of the wreath that you die cut earlier, overlapping as needed
Step 4 – add a poinsettia to the top

Step 5 – add more snow texture
Step 6 – add your recipients name to the ornaments

I hope you enjoyed my name tags

Merry Christmas

November 29, 2020

Hello & Welcome to my post today! Samantha here and today I wanted to share this Christmas card using the Elegant Christmas Tree die. This is one of my favourite Christmas themed dies, and while I love paper piecing I often find it overwhelming with intricate dies like this. Colouring is a perfect way to get a similar effect – it’s also much more quicker and less messy!

Card Instructions:

Step 1: Using alcohol ink friendly cardstock die cut both parts of the Elegant Christmas tree die. Place the detailed Christmas tree onto the Christmas tree base. Use a pencil to trace the details on to the Christmas tree base.

Step 2: Select your Copic markers (RV00/RV02/RV04/RV06/RV09) to colour each individual detail traced onto the Christmas tree. Use as eraser to rub out the pencil lines.

Step 3: Continue to colour until all the details are coloured in.

TIP: No need to colour within the lines – it is best to colour slightly out side of each lines.

Step 4: Adhere the die cut detailed Christmas tree onto the coloured in Christmas tree base. Next adhere the Christmas tree onto a pink card base (Card Measurement: 10.5cm x 14.5cm).

Step 5: (Optional) Add machine stitched details.

Adhere Clear Double Sided adhesive to white cardstock. Remove the release sheet to expose the adhesive layer and apply a generous amount of Silk Microfine Glitter (Silver). Brush off excess glitter and return it to the jar, then polish with a fingertip to bring out the maximum sparkle. Use this glitter card to die cut the small stars from the Elegant Christmas Tree die.

Adhere the larger star to the top of the tree and embellish the tree with the rest of the smaller stars.

Step 6: Die cut a circle using pattern paper, stamp the sentiment – trim to create a half circle. Adhere the sentiment onto the card base.

Step 7: Embellish card with a twine bow and sequins. Adhere the card front to an A6 card base.

A fun, bright Christmas card without the mess! Hope this inspires you to try it out yourself.-

Happy Crafting!

A Flourished Christmas

November 28, 2020

Hi Friends! It’s EK and I am popping in with a trio of cards featuring A Way with Words Flourished Christmas Minis 2. These three cards were all using the same techniques but ended up with different looks due to the different A Way With Words sentiments I picked.

Step One: Using 90lb Soft Finish Cardstock, blend water soluble ink over the paper. I used Distress Oxides. Splatter wet ink over the cardstock. Add a spray of Shimmer Spray.

Step Two: Repeat step one with two other pieces of cardstock. I used the new trio of Distress Oxides, Rustic Wilderness, Crackling Campfire, and Speckled Egg to create these looks.

Step Three: Die cut the A Way With Words Flourished Christmas Minis 2 out of Clear Double Side Adhesive Sheets. (I have recently mastered Clear Double Sided Adhesive die cut and adhere without applying the sheet to a piece of cardstock prior!)

Step Four: Peel off the brown side of the Clear Double Sided Adhesive Sheet and adhere it to your project. Then Peel off the slick top paper.

Step Five: Adhere a substance to the Clear Double Sided Adhesive. I used Nuvo Gilding Flakes.

Step Six: Using a stiff brush, rub off the excess substance.

Step Seven: Repeat steps five-six with the other cardstocks.

Step Eight: Die cut your cardstock and adhere the pieces to A2 card frames using 10mm Clear Double Sided Adhesive. I used both Stitched Indented Rectangle die set and Stitched Rounded Rectangle die set.

Step Nine: Using more Clear Double Sided Adhesive Sheets, die cut A Way With Words sentiments. I used A Way With Words Peace on Earth, Merry Christmas, and Cheers.

Step Ten: Peel and stick the sentiments to the card frames.

Step Eleven: Add Silk Microfine Glitter to the sentiments. I used Sea Glass Silk Microfine Glitter for the sentiment and Cook Diamond Silk Microfine Glitter for the star.

I used Bright Cranberry Silk Microfine Glitter for the flourish card.

I used Imperial Garnet Silk Microfine Glitter for the sentiment on tree card, Sea Glass Silk Microfine Glitter for the ornaments, and Solar Gold Silk Microfine Glitter for the star.

Step Twelve: Finally, add Craft Drops to the cards. I used Pearl Rose on the orange card.

I used both Metallic Gold and White for the Speckled Egg card.

I used Metallic Gold and Pearl Olive Craft Drops on the green card.

Thank you for checking out my trio of Christmas cards today. Let us know your favorite one in the comments below. Until then, happy crafting!

Summer Strawberries

October 25, 2020

Hello and Welcome! Samantha here today, sharing this fun summer strawberry card. This is one of Elizabeth Craft Designs new releases which I paired up with the Beach Sentiments stamp set. I’ve had glimpses of hot summer weather and it’s put me in the mood to share this inspiration with you.

Card Instructions:

Step 1: Cut a card front using light pink card measuring 10.5cm x 15.5cm.

Step 2: Die cut the strawberries die with the following pieces of card stock:

Stems: Light green card

Leaves: Dark blue/green card

Strawberries: Various shades of pink card and corrugated pink cardstock

Strawberry Leaf: Dark Green corrugated card

Flowers: Light pink card

Step 3: Arrange and adhere the green stems onto the card front, leaving room for the sentiment.

Step 4: Stamp the sentiment using black ink.

Step 5: Optional: Add machine stitched detail.

Step 6: Arrange and adhere the 3x large leaves onto the card front.

Step 7: Use foam tape to adhere the strawberries/Strawberry leaves onto the card front – arranged in a way that they appear to be dangling off their leaves.

Step 8: Embellish the card with the light pink flowers, a few sequins and a pink twine bow. Adhere the card front to an A6 card base.

Step 9: Lastly, adhere Clear Double Sided adhesive to a small piece of cardstock. Remove the release sheet to expose the adhesive layer and apply a generous amount of Silk Microfine Glitter (Silver). Brush off excess glitter and return it to the jar, then polish with a fingertip to bring out the maximum sparkle. Use this glitter card to die cut the small circles that adhere to the middle of each flower.

It’s a very happy card and the pink strawberries (versus red) are a nice compliment to the blue/greens in this card. Hope you enjoyed my card tutorial today.

Happy Crafting!
