Little Snowman

January 20, 2022

Hello everyone, Alice here. For today’s blog post I made this cute little snowman. Here in the Netherlands there is no snow yet. Hopefully it wil come.

So this time I started working with the snowman. First I made a background with WOW! embossing powder. For this I used the color Skylight (ws231x). It is a powder with some larger shimmer pieces in it. And I love glitter so really love this one! I edited the whole background with the embossing powder.

I made a frame with the Fitted Hexagons. I used the largest die in the set and cut the hexagon in the middle of the square.

I added some snowflakes around the cut out hexagon. The snowflakes are from the Classic Christmas special kit (#K007). I decided to cut them in white to keep attention in the middle. I cute off the parts of the snowflakes that were hanging over the square.

After that I made the snowman in the middle. Colored the details with distress ink. The scarf is the same color as the embossing powder in the background (Cracked Pistachio). I added some trees behind the snowman . The trees are from the Winter Scenery set (#1926)

Finally I added a sheet of kraft paper behind the card front to finish it off.

I hope I was able to give you some inspiration today. See you next time!

Christmas Cards – So Many Options!

December 7, 2020

Karen here today sharing some FuN Christmas cards. I recently purchased this beautiful pack of blue and purple holiday paper and decided to challenge myself to create using *almost* every designer here at Elizabeth Craft Designs. The products are all so lovely, and I wanted to play with many of the styles.

This first card features a FuN font stamp from Sue Smith Creative Designs. This one is from the Snow Stamps, but there are many beautiful options. I added a snowflake from A Way with Words, Flourished Christmas Mini Dies and covered it with 101mm Double Sided Adhesive (before cutting) and added some Silver Silk Microfine Glitter. I used a Stitched Rounded Rectangle to cut the stamp out.

How pretty is that AMAZING new Washi tape from Ilse and Charlene (Artzy Scenery Washi Tape)!!? In this card, I diecut the ends of those rectangles using the Junk Journal Extras Dies. I also used the Florals 4 dies designed by Anita, the Joyful Wishes Sentiments Stamps, the Stitched Circles Dies and White Craft Drops.

Oh, how I do love a glitter covered Santa Claus (die set designed by Joset)! This one is covered with Speckled Indigo and Cool Diamond Silk Microfine Glitter (applied with the 101mm Double Sided Adhesive). His face is colored with E000, E00, R21 Copics and his feet and hands are colored with W7 Copic. The sentiment is again from the Joyful Wishes set.

That glitter is gorgeous! And serendipity, it matches my nail polish!

I just love the beautiful font dies from Suzanne Cannon in the A Way with Words collection. This one is Merry Christmas, Small Die. It is die cut with a Stitched Rounded Square Die. The card also uses the Fitted Fishtails dies.

And FINALLY, I used the adorable snowman from Planner Essentials 34 – Christmas Figures, designed by Esther Glas. He is so sweet and comes with the fun sleigh rides ticket (and many other dies). I also used the Stitched Circles dies on this card.

Well, I may have gone a bit overboard…but I just love all of these collections of dies. They are just so versatile and fun!

Craftily yours, Karen

Snowman Katie Label Accordion Card

July 20, 2014

Hi everyone! Helen here with a Christmas Accordion card today. I know we have been seeing a lot of  ‘Christmas in July’ lately, but it’s hard to resist with all of Elizabeth Craft Designs’ wonderful new die releases! Starting your Christmas cards now is actually a pretty good idea. I always end up getting to the middle of December, with a grand total of about three cards made and a mad panic to make more!

Directions:

1. Cut out two plain white Katie Label Accordion panels and eight border pieces from blue glitter card using the Katie Stars Frame Edges. Keep four of the tiny blue stars which are left over from cutting the borders.

2. Use the Katie Label Accordion die to cut blue patterned paper center pieces. Cut off the excess tabs by hand.

3. Cut out the various parts of the snowman as shown below including two snow drifts, a ‘Merry Christmas’, a large star and two snowflakes from the Spiral Circle Pull Card set. (Please note that the small black gems shown in the picture below didn’t end up being used!)

4. Using a glue runner, glue pen, white glue and small adhesive foam pads, assemble all the card parts, leaving the joining tabs of the two Katie Label Accordion panels till last.

5. Use one of the Katie Stars Frame Edges to cut three tiny red stars for the center of the two snowflakes and for decoration on the larger star.

Do You Want to Build a Snowman?

July 8, 2014

Hi! It’s Candy here. Today i’m bringing you a sneak peek into one of the new die sets that will be available in mid-July.

My cousins love the movie “Frozen” and they sing the songs from it incessantly. I had just spent some time with them when I received the new Elizabeth Craft Designs Snowman die. Every time I saw the Snowman, I thought of the lyrics from the song, “Do You Want to Build a Snowman?” and this card just came to me …

1. Cut card base 5.5″ x 8.5″. Score at 4.25″ and fold.

2. Cut striped patterned paper 4.75″ x 4″. Ink and apply to card front near the top fold.

3. Cut snowflake paper 5.25″ x 3.75″. Ink and apply to card front near the bottom as shown.

4. Cut navy paper 1.75″ x 3″, ink and apply to front of card.

IMGP03045. Cut a strip of double-sided adhesive and adhere it to a strip of white cardstock. Then adhere it to a Transfer Sheet.

6. Place the snowman dies on the cardstock that is adhered to the Transfer Sheet. Use the Metal Adaptor Plate and run it through your Big Shot.

IMGP0306

7. Use ink, chalk or markers to color each piece (this saves you from running lots of colors of cardstock through the die cutting machine.)

8. Assemble broom and hat and place all of the pieces on the protective sheet removed from the double-sided adhesive. IMGP0334

9. Cut patterned paper 5.25″ x 4″. Ink edges.

10. Staple protective sheet with pieces on it to patterned paper. Then adhere patterned paper to the inside of the card.

IMGP0329

11. Adhere another piece of double-sided Adhesive to a piece of white cardstock. Leave the protective sheet on and cut out the snow and the snowman with the dies. Remove the protective sheet and coat each piece with Silk Microfine Glitter Warm Diamond. Polish.

IMGP0333

12. Use dimensional foam to adhere snow and snowman to front of card. Add googly eyes, nose, mouth and Glitter Dots.

13. Print sayings on the computer, mat with coordinating paper, ink and apply to front and inside of card.

14. Add Glitter Snowflakes and Glitter Icicles as shown.

Enjoy building the snowman!
