Cardmaking Charlene Stamps Inspiration from the Design Team Soft Finish Cardstock Stamping

IMG_9989Hey friends!  It’s EK and I am popping in today to show you how easily you can manipulate your favorite stamps to use all year long.  Every since the Halloween Party Stamp set was released by designer Charlene, I have been absolutely in love with the kitty stamp.  It is hands down one of the cutest cats around.  However, his little bat wings make him limited in how often you can use him.  However, I am sharing today, that with a little creative stamping you can use this cutie all year long!

IMG_9971Step One:  Trim a piece of 90lb Soft Finish Cardstock to 4.25×5.5 inches.  Using a stamping platform add you cat stamp from Halloween Party and ink it up.  Then before stamping, wipe the ink from the kitty’s wings.  You can use any type of ink for this stamping technique.  I used Fadeout ink so I could do a little no line coloring.

IMG_9972Step Two:  Using alcohol ink color the image in.  I used copic markers.

IMG_9973It is hard to believe that this sweet little image once had little bat wings set on the body.

IMG_9975Step Three:  Using the Fitted Rounded Rectangle die set, die cut out the stamped image.  Using two of the dies from the Stitched Rounded Rectangle die set, die cut a board that is about the size of the card frame.

IMG_9976Step Four:  Using the Fitted Rounded Rectangle die set, die cut a piece of printed paper the size of the opening in the die cut boarder.

IMG_9977Step Five:  Using 6mm Clear Double Sided Adhesive, add the die cut boarder to an A2 Card frame.  Using 10mm Clear Double Sided Adhesive, add the printed paper and the stamped image, making both of center.

IMG_9990Step Six:  Stamp a sentiment from the Journaling Elements stamp set in black ink.

Inspiration from the Design Team Planner Essentials Scrapbooking Stamping

Marching Forward Toward Greenville Move

Hey there! It’s Annette Green here today with my Greenville Planner, as I continue marking the milestones as we prepare to move this Summer. March has already become a super busy month! Take a peek at my pages to see what’s been going on and the fun I had making them with several Planner Essentials dies. All products used are listed at the end of the post.

Our big milestone this month was our final garage sale and the selling of most of our furniture. (while still staying married. LOL!)

I began my left page on the back of the previous page which was the large tag shape cut from black cardstock. To give interest to the background, I trimmed the design papers just inside the shape of the page, and left the right edge blunt.

For the right page, I used the page die from the new Retro Number Trio set. The key to this page die, with the intricate scallops, is to cut heavy cardstock or layer two thinner sheets to ensure it doesn’t bend or tear.

The tag and topper are cut using the Planner Pocket 3 – Tag & Topper die. I love these numbers in this topper piece.

Before adhering the topper to the tag, I used it as a stencil at the bottom by simply rubbing some brown ink across it.

From Planner Essentials 5, I die cut the two frame pieces (twice, for the front and back) from coordinating design papers and sandwiched a scrap piece of lace-punched cardstock between the two layers.

I love this element because it allows you to add two more photos to a layout easily without crowding the pages.

When I design pages, I lay out the base elements and a few accents before planning the photos. Later I measure the spaces and size my photos accordingly in PhotoShop.

Once I add photos, then I begin layering more elements and embellishment. This photo shows how we had a bare piece of wood on the wall which we didn’t want to remove in fear of damaging the drywall, so I painted and stenciled it and added a vinyl phrase. A fun little memory to look back on.

I find that making some photos small and focusing more on the journaling gives a little more interest to the page. (Especially when my husband doesn’t think it’s a flattering photo of himself.)

It’s always great to include some humor in my planner, because these funny little moments are sometimes the best thing to remember during all the work and stress of moving. Here, my husband is spelling out a message to our daughter on her bedroom wall. I texted her this photo and she had a good laugh.

Through all the work, it’s good to document the happy times too. We were holding our final garage sale on this day and were so happy to finally be done!

Part of my reason for documenting our progress is to eventually share it with our daughter who has been away at college during all these changes to our house. Our dog Suki is always nearby as we work, probably wondering what in the world is going on.

To finish off this page, I used some small alphabet stickers to fill in the date.

Now we will continue on with a bit more painting, and then list our house on the market! It’s been fun documenting the process and making a special planner just for this. Watch for more pages in the coming months as our journey continues.

Create The Things – Spotlight Stamping Technique

Hey Friends! It’s EK and today I am creating a card featuring some spotlight stamping using Charlene’s Make a Wish stamp set. All of Charlene’s stamp set designs were just meant to be colored and the spotlight stamping technique is just perfect for these large images.

Step One: Trim a piece of 90lb Soft Finish Cardstock to 4.25×5.5 inches. Using some water resistant black ink stamp the sentiment onto the cardstock. Using the large feather from the Make a Wish stamp set, stamp the feather image around the card.

Step Two: Using the coordinating smaller feather, stamp the image into the blank spaces between the large image.

Step Three: Die cut the stamped image using the Stitched Rounded Rectangle die set twice.

Step Four: Die cut some Rust Soft Finish Cardstock using the Fitted Rounded Rectangle die set using dies slightly larger than the ones used to die cut the stamped images.

Step Five: Using some 10mm Clear Double Sided Adhesive, adhere the die cut images to the Rust cardstock.

Step Six: Using a watercolor maker and a water brush, add some light brown onto half of the feathers from the middle panel.

Step Seven: Repeat step six, but this time using a dark brown watercolor brush.

Step Eight: Adhere all three panels to an A2 card frame.

I love how the coloring in this technique pulls your eyes not to the color, but instead right to the sentiment. Let us know in the comments below what you think of the spotlight stamping technique used with Charlene’s stamp image. Until then, happy crafting!

A Set Of Cute Hippo Baby Cards

Hello everyone, it’s Sanna Lippert here again today with a set of “build-a-Hippo” baby cards. I adore this little die cut die so much –– it’s perfect for so many occasions, and practically made for creating baby cards! And while I was at it, I created a set of three. You never know when you’ll need one!

This is how I created the cards:

Step 1: First take a sheet of White Soft Finish Cardstock and die cut 3 sets of Hippos. And don’t forget to die cut the feet six times!! 🙂
Step 2: Next take a sheet of Soft Sky and Dusky cardstock and die cut two sets with the Stitched Rounded Rechtangle from the blue paper and one set from the lilac one.
Step 3: Take a white Soft Finish Cardstock sheet (or glitter cardstock) and die cut three sets with the Postage Stamp Rectangles die cut die.
Step 4: Ink the hippo pieces with grey and pink stamp ink, but leave the eyes and teeth white.


Step 5: Now cut blue and purple patterned paper into a card size from the polka-dotted “Thinking about Polinesia” paper. Adhere onto the card base.
Step 6: Attach a piece of ribbon in blue and pink onto the cards, then adhere the rechtangle pieces on place. Start with the postage stamp piece and adhere the rounded rectangle on top.
Step 7: Add a stamped sentiment using the Ahoy Sentiments or the Build Your Own Sentiments 1 stamp set and black stamp ink.
Step 8: Color the tiny eye pieces with a black marker and adhere in place.

Love Is All You Need

Hey Everyone! It’s EK today with some sepia toned love cards.

With Valentine’s Day just around the corner, I wanted to create a collection of romantic cards that can be used for Cupid’s holiday or frankly any day. Charlene’s A Field of Flowers stamp set is the perfect way to create a simple collections of cards. And let’s be honest, these flowers are just begging for a sepia treatment.

Step One: Stamp all the images from the A Field of Flowers stamp set onto Watercolor Paper using water proof ink.

Step Two: Using watercolor pencils in shades of brown, tan and peach color the flowers.

Step Three: Using a watercolor brush, spread the pencil out.

Step Four: Repeat steps one and two with the rest of the images.

Step Five: Using a watercolor pencil, shade around the edges of the watercolor paper. I used shades of red, pink and purple.

Step Six: Using a watercolor brush, blend out the pencil.

Step Seven: Repeat steps five and six with rest of the images.

Step Eight: Using the Love Sentiments stamp set, add the sentiment onto each image. I used grey on all except the one with the leaves.

Step Nine: Mount the watercolor paper onto an A2 card frame.

Create The Things Tag

Hey Crafters! Katelyn here, sharing with you my Create the Things Tag.

I’m loving all the different ideas and projects that I’ve been coming up with using Charlene’s beautiful stamp sets. For today’s project, I’ve create this tag, which uses a variety of Charlene’s stamps and a couple of dies from the Planner Essentials Collection. You’ll want to read below as I share with you how to recreate my tag at home.

Step One. Die cut the large tag from the Planner Essentials – 26 die out of White Soft Finish Cardstock. Choose one of the reinforcement circles from the Reinforcement Variety Pack and die cut it out of White Soft Finish Cardstock. Place the reinforcement circle over top of the circle on the tag. Sprinkle Turquoise, Rosebud and Spring Green Magenta Nuance over the tag. Spritz the tag with water. Dry the tag. Apply Emboss It Ink to the block stamp from the Journaling Elements and stamp on the tag as desired. Reapply ink as needed to the stamp, stamp a total of four times. Sprinkle White Wonder Embossing Powder over the stamped areas. Tap off the excess powder and emboss with a heat tool. Distress the edges of the tag. Ink the edges of the tag using Black Soot Distress Ink and a blending tool with foam.

Step Two. Choose two of the flowers from the A Field of Flowers stamp set. Apply Jet Black Archival Ink to each stamp and stamp onto a piece of watercolour cardstock. Colour the flowers using Scribble Sticks 1 & 2 and a waterbrush. Once the flowers have dried, fussy cut them out. Ink the edges of the flowers using Black Soot Distress Ink and a blending tool with foam.

Step Three. From the Journaling Elements stamp set, you’ll need the heart stamp. Apply Jet Black Archival Ink to the stamp and stamp onto the watercolour cardstock. Reapply ink to the stamp and stamp two more times on the same cardstock piece. Colour the hearts using Scribble Sticks 1 & 2 and a waterbrush. Once the hearts have dried, fussy cut eight out. Ink the edges of the hearts using Black Soot Distress Ink and a blending tool with foam.

Step Four. Apply Jet Black Archival Ink to the “Create the Things” sentiment from the Make a Wish stamp set and stamp onto a piece of White Soft Finish Cardstock. Cut each word strip into a strip for a total of five strips. Ink the edges of the strips using Black Soot Distress Ink and a blending tool with foam.

Step Five. Adhere the reinforcement circle overtop of the circle on the tag. Adhere the eight hearts as desired on your tag.

Step Six. Use foam square to adhere the two flowers to the bottom left side of the tag as desired.

Step Seven. Use adhesive and foam squares to adhere the sentiment to the right side of the tag. To finish the tag, tie a piece of twine through the hole at the top of the tag.

Live, Create, Tell The Story

Hi there! It’s Tanja here and today I would like to show you how to create this Mixed Media Tag using coloring on colored cardstock.

Step 1: Die Cutting and Stamping

  • die cut the larger tag from the Planner Essentials 2 die set
  • stamp one of the wonderful flowers from the Garden Flowers set with a grey ink

Step 2: Coloring

  • color the flower with Alcohol Markers
  • add shading around the flower with colored pencils

Step 3: Adding Texture to the Background

  • mask the image
  • stamp the grid from the Patterns 1 set with Distress Oxide Ink Evergreen Bough and the formula from the Background Stamps 3 set with Distress Oxide Ink Hickory Smoke

Step 4: Finishing Touches

  • remove the mask
  • add black and white acrylic paint splatters
  • shade the edges of the tag with Distress Ink Ground Espresso and a Blending Brush
  • dye a piece of seam binding with Distress Ink Ground Espresso and thread it through the hole of the tag
  • add a sentiment sticker

My daughter Emily (9) created and similar tag and this is how it turned out – so lovely:
