Smile Tag

September 29, 2020

Hey Crafters! Katelyn here, sharing with you my Smile Tag.

To create my Smile Tag, I’ve used a couple of the dies from the new Paper Flower Collection as well as a die from the Planner Essentials Collection, Joset Designs and Els van de Burgt Studio. You’ll want to read below as I share with you how to recreate my tag at home.

Step One. Die cut the small tag from the Planner Essentials 26 – Planner Pocket 4 – Tag & Toppers die out of White Soft Finish Cardstock. Ink the edges of the tag using Ground Espresso Distress Ink and a blending tool with foam.

Step Two. Choose a piece of patterned paper from the Worn Wood Paper Pack. Die cut a 2″ Stitched Rectangle out of the patterned paper. Ink the edges of the rectangle using Ground Espresso Distress Ink and a blending tool with foam.

Step Three. You’ll need the small fitted circle and the small stitched circle from the Pizza Box die. Flip the patterned paper over that you just used and die cut the small stitched circle out of it. Die cut the small fitted circle out of White Soft Finish Cardstock. Ink the edges of the two circle using Ground Espresso Distress Ink and a blending tool with foam.

Step Four. From the Ginkgo die, you’ll need two of the single ginkgo leaves and the ginkgo leaves bunch out of White Soft Finish Cardstock. Using a blending tool with foam, blend Mowed Lawn Distress Ink over the entire surface of all of the leaves.

Step Five. From the Words 2 – Thinking of You die, die cut the Smile word out of a piece of White Soft Finish Cardstock. Using a blending tool with foam, blend Ground Espresso Distress Ink over the entire surface of the word.

Step Six. Adhere the stitched rectangle to the tag.

Step Seven. Adhere the fitted circle to the stitched circle. Use foam squares on the left hand side of the stitched circle and adhere 1/2″ from the bottom and 5/8″ from the left of the tag.

Step Eight. Use adhesive and foam squares to adhere the ginkgo leaves around the circles on the tag as desired.

Step Nine. Adhere the smile word to the circle as desired.

Step Ten. To finish the tag, tie a piece of twine through the hole at the top of the tag.

Thanks for joining me today! I hope that I’ve inspired you to create your own version of my Smile Tag.

A Way With Words Cardmaking

You Are Perfect

July 25, 2020

IMG_0404Hey Friends!  It’s EK Gorman, and I popping in today to share with you a new card tutorial.  Have you ever found that your die is too big for the size card you want to create?  I just adore Suzanne’s Cannon’s A Way With Words Wreath & Elements die, but it really is meant to adhere to a project larger than 6×6 inches.  However, my favorite card size to work with is A2 (4.25×5.5 inches), so the die just doesn’t fit.  But today I am sharing a cool and easily solution to make the over sized die look like it was meant to be.

IMG_0397Step One:  Die cut the Way With Words Wreath & Elements die set out of 90lb Soft Finish Cardstock.  You do not need to die cut the full die.

IMG_0399Step Two:  Die cut the floral piece that is meant to be layered under the Wreath flowers.  Color the piece with ink.  I used Abandoned Coral.  Adhere with Kids Choice Glue under the die cut wreath.

IMG_0398Step Three:  Trim a piece of Watercolor Paper to 4.25×5.5 inches.  Spray the watercolor paper with liquid watercolor in two coordinating colors.  I used both an orange and yellow spray ink from Tattered Angel.  Let dry or set with a heat gun.  Splash the inked cardstock with the lighter ink to create more visual interest.

IMG_0400Step Four:  Die cut the sprayed ink paper with the Stitched Rounded Rectangle die set.

IMG_0401Step Five:  Using 10mm Clear Double Sided Adhesive, adhere the watercolor paper to an A2 card frame.  Using Kids Choice Glue, adhere the wreath, letting it hand off the edge.  Trim off the excess.

IMG_0402Step Six:  Die cut from 90lb Soft Finish Cardstock the piece of the You Are Perfect die set.  Leave the ‘you are’ white, but color the ‘perfect’ with an ombre effect.  I used both Canddied Apple and Abandon Coral Distress Oxide to create this effect.

IMG_0403Step Seven:  Adhere the sentiment to the cardstock using Kids Choice Glue.  Let it over lap the wreath.

IMG_0405I just love how you can get a whole new look using just a section of this beautiful die.  Do you ever trim your dies so they can fit smaller projects?  Let us know in the comments below.  Until then, Happy Crafting!

Adhere two stars in the bottom left corner underneath the 2 1/2″ stitched rectangle. Adhere the remaining four stars as desired on the 2 1/2″ stitched rectangle. Foam square the 2 1/2″ stitched rectangle to the middle of the 3 1/2″ stitched rectangle.

Have A Magical Day Card

June 3, 2020

Hi Everyone, it’s Tina here. Lately I seem to be in a rainbow mode so I decided that my balloons would have a rainbow colour theme. I absolutely loved the results and loved all the burst of colours. Below you will find the steps to create your own rainbow of balloons card.

Step 1 – Trim White Soft Finish Cardstock to 8 1/2” x 5 1/2”, score at 4 1/4” and fold in half for a vertical side fold card. (A2)

Step 2 – Trim White Soft Finish Cardstock to 4 1/4” x 5 1/2”. Diecut The Cardstock with Stitched Rectangles and Frame It – Stitched Circles to create a window panel. If you don’t have the Frame It then use Fitted Circles. The only difference is that you won’t have a Stitched Circle along the frame.

Step 3 – Adhere any DIY background to the card front using 3mm Clear Double Sided Adhesive Tape. I used Alcohol Inks on Yupo Paper to create an ocean feel background.

Step 4 – Stamp Build Your Own Sentiments 1 using Versafine Onyx Black Ink to the center bottom of the panel created from Step 2. Adhere to card using Foam Tape.

Step 5 – Diecut Octopus and Party Accessories (Balloons x6, Balloon Strings And Party Hat) using White Soft Finish Cardstock. Colour in all the diecut pieces using Alcohol Markers. I used Spectrum Noir Classique Markers. Assemble all the pieces and adhere to card using Kids Choice Glue and Foam Tape. TIP: I placed all my assembled pieces loosely on my card front and when I was satisfied with the placement I used Glad Press’ N Seal to keep the placement. I adhered glue to the Balloons and Foam Tape to the Octopus on the back side then turned it around and placed back to the card front and removed the Glad Press’ N Seal.

This card can be used for several occasions by changing the colours and sentiment. Below is a link to all the products used. Thank you for stopping by and Happy Crafting!
