Sympathy Card

April 24, 2023

Hello crafty friends, it’s Summer Hills-Painter here. For today’s blog post, I am sharing a simple sympathy card I made for a friend.

Preparation:

Cut and assemble daffodils from the Daffodil die set. Cut a circle from the Stitched Circles die from light blue cardstock. Cut an A2 card base from green cardstock. Cut a rectangle from cream cardstock using the Stitched Rectangle die set. Cut a rectangle from patterned cardstock from the Fitted Rectangles die set. Cut a bow from the Easter Basket die set out of yellow cardstock. Cut the words “with sympathy” from Words 4-Remember die set out of black cardstock 3 times.

Instructions:
Adhere the three words “with” and “sympathy” together. Also assemble the bow from the Basket die set.

Arrange the die cut daffodils together into a bunch and adhere the bow created in the last step to the bunch.

Adhere the sentiment to the top of the patterned paper cut from the Fitted Rectangles die set. Adhere the bunch of daffodils to the bottom of the layer and cut off the excess

To finish off the card, attach the patterned cardstock layer to the Stitched Fitted Rectangle cardstock layer. Once completed, adhere those layers to the card base.

Contrast and Layering – With You!

July 15, 2017

Hi Artlets! It’s Suzanne here today with a sweet card to remind someone special that you’re always with them, even when you’re apart.

To get the best look with your A Way With Words dies you want good contrast between the letters and the background. I thought it would be fun to use the ModaScrap Flower Lace 2 as a background with a different colour behind it, but that creates a far too complicated pattern and the words disappear. We need more contrast! There are a number of ways to work around this problem, but here is the one I chose.

Follow along with me to see how you can make this card!

With Sympathy

May 15, 2016

By Judi Kauffman

Hello, everyone. It’s Judi Kauffman, back as today’s guest designer. Alas, I’ve needed far too many sympathy cards in recent times. It’s always a challenge to come up with something respectful without being too solemn. I think this one hits the mark, the two strips across the front are symbolic of loss, as if the card is a reminder that something beautiful has been broken. The colors are muted, but the Shimmer Sheetz sparkles, as if the card is allowing light to enter a dark time.

I used only two dies for the card: Els van de Burgt Studio’s Ribbons 1, A Way With Words’ With Sympathy. I chose Bronze Metallic Shimmer Sheetz for the words and Fire Opal Gemstone Shimmer Sheetz for the ribbon strip.
