Autumn leaves

October 3, 2022

Hello all Jackie here. Today I have created something a little different! Sometimes the smallest dies we get in a die set can get overlooked, I have used just the leaves from die set – Turkey 1905 to make my own chip board pieces which give this design a lot of texture. Let’s get started.

Step One:

Cover the front of an A2 top folding card blank with dark brown textured card.

Step Two:

Die cut the leaves into various autumnal shades of coloured card. Die cut enough to stack four of the same leaf together gluing each leaf as you go, this will create a solid chip board like piece.

Step Three:

Ink around the edge of each leaf, I have used distress inks but whatever you have in your stash will work just as well.

Step Four:

Cut a panel of white card to 5.5″x3″ arrange all the leaves onto the panel, then when you are happy with the lay out glue each one in place. Trim the overhanging leaves with a craft knife and ruler as they are a bit too tough for scissors. – If you do not have a craft knife then trim the leaves before gluing them together.

Step Five:

Die cut the scalloped edge from the planner set – Planner Essentials 27 Retro Number Trio. I know it’s not really an edge die but I love the look of this scallop. Trim the scallop edge to fit the panel.

Cut a strip of gold foil card then glue this to the reverse side of the prepared leaf panel leaving approximately 1/8″ showing at the side then fix the scalloped edge underneath.

Step Six:

Tear a small strip of vellum measuring 5/8″ then trim both ends to measure 3″ across. Stamp out and gold emboss the sentiment on to a strip of dark brown card measuring approximately 4″x1/2″ fold this around the piece of vellum and fix in place with double sided tape.

Step Seven:

Attach the leaf panel to the card front using 3d foam pads then finish off by fixing the sentiment in place.

Thats my card for today. Although I do love to stack die cuts you could just cut the leaves once and use foam pads to raise them up or even fix them flat to the panel, whichever way I hope I have inspired you to look through your dies and see what you can do with the smallest ones.

Happy crafting – Jackie

Autumn is Calling

November 11, 2021

Hey Friends! It’s Ek, and today I am totally embracing all things fall. I am not gonna lie, my favorite two holidays to craft for are Halloween and Christmas, but Thanksgiving is hands down my actual most favorite calendar holiday. The idea of stoping and joining hands with the people you love and giving thanks for all that you have is something that each year always makes my heart warm. But crafting for this holiday has not always been easy. However, with the release of Joset’s die collection this fall, creating for my favorite holiday has gotten so much easier. Today I am playing with the Turkey die set, and falling right into autumn.

Step One: Die set the Turkey die set from 90lb Soft Finish Cardstock.

Step Two: Using Distress Ink, blend color onto the Turkey body parts. I used Wild Honey, Rusty Hinge and Vintage Photo.

Step Three: Blend ink over the leaves and the rest of the Turkey accessories. I used Black Soot, Barn Door, Crackling Campfire, Ripe Persimmon, Scattered Straw, Shabby Shutters, and Peeled Paint.

Step Four: Using a liquid adhesive, such as Kids Choice Glue, adhere the Turkey pieces together.

Step Five: Using a black and white gel pen, fill in the eyes and add highlights.

Step Six: Die cut a background out of 90lb Soft Finish Cardstock. Splatter Distress Ink in the colors of the leaves onto the background die cut. Using a piece of printed paper, such as one found in the Worn Wood paper collection, die cut it with the Stitched Rounded Square die set. Adhere both the background and the square die cut to a 6×6 inch card frame using 10mm Clear Double Sided Adhesive.

Step Seven: Using a liquid adhesive, such as Kids Choice Glue, adhere the Turkey to the card frame.

Step Eight: Adhere the leaves around the Turkey with a liquid adhesive. Add a sentiment to the card by stamping fall themed sentiment from the Autumn Words stamp set. Finally add some Craft Drops to the card by adding fall colored Drops in Pearl Olive, Pearl Rose, and Metallic Gold.

I am so happy to have some crafting supplies that coordinate with Thanksgiving.

Let us know in the comments below what your favorite holiday is. Until then, happy crafting.

Happy Halloween and Thanksgiving!

October 31, 2021

Happy Halloween, ECD Fans! Karen here today. To celebrate Halloween, I made a card to celebrate the next big thing – Thanksgiving here in the U.S. And there’s an ADORABLE Turkey now in the critter collection! I also used the new Hay Ride dies to create a cool cart. FuN!

I love creating the critters that are in Joset’s Design Collection. To start, I cut the pieces (using 101mm Double Sided Adhesive for the pieces on top. I then arrange them in the order that they will end up as it helps me to figure out what colors to use. For the Turkey, I used Copic markers: YR02, R14, G82, E13, E23 and C7. Then I put the critter together. For this particular critter, I decided that google eyes would be best!

I created the Hay Ride cart in the same way. I used Copic markers: Y26, E41, E44, YG63, YR04, YG17, YG07, YR24, Y06 and G40. I love the Fall colors.

I wanted to have a Stitched Circle on the front of my card, so I cut the background for my card front and then cut a Stitched Circle out of the middle. Since this piece is behind the patterned paper, it saves another chunk of paper!

And finally, I put it all together using some old Basic Grey paper from my stash. So fun! The sentiment is from the Autumn Words Sentiment Set. Thank you for stopping by today.

Craftily yours, Karen

Fall Fun

October 11, 2021

Karen here today. I’ve been having fun with the new Happy Harvest collection. For today’s cards, I tried to make cards with non-Fall colors just to see how it would turn out, and I really love it. The paper is from a collection that has been in my stash forever.

Omigosh, how cute is this Scarecrow! I absolutely adore him! I kept my card sketch pretty simple just adding a strip across the middle to add that sentiment from the Autumn Words Sentiment Set.

When I create these dies, I lay them out first just so I have an idea of where things go. (At the bottom of the first pic, it took me a few minutes to realize that was the sleeves and not a base!) The Copic colors I used were: Straw-Y21, Y23; Face-E000, YR14, C7; Shorts-BV31, BV34, Top-R81, R83, R21; Hat-E21, E23, G00; Birds-E44, and Stick-E25. The paper is 90 lb Soft Finish Cardstock.

Super fun Turkey too! He is colored with E41, E43, YR65, R81, E33. I added a Stitched Rounded Square offset just slightly to frame him a bit.

Thank you for stopping by today!

Craftily yours, Karen
