Cardmaking Charlene Stamps Craft Drops Inspiration from the Design Team Stamping

Friendship

Hey Friends! It’s EK and today I am sneaking in with a card sharing on of the new Beautiful Blooms flowers stamp sets, Friendship. I created this super simple card, knowing it looks anything by simple.

Step One: Using a piece of trimmed 90lb Soft Finish Cardstock, add masking tape to create your panel.

Step Two: Blend ink into the panel. I used Speckled Egg Distress Oxide.

Step Three: Hand stamp floral images from the Friendship stamp set into the panel in a slightly darker ink. I used Stormy Sky Distress Oxide.

Step Four: Using smaller filler stamps from the Friendship stamp set, hand stamp in the rest of the negative space.

Step Five: Peel off masking tape to reveal crisp clean lines. Add a sentiment from the stamp set in the same ink color you stamped the flowers.

Step Six: Die cut the panel using the Fitted Rounded Rectangle die set.

Step Seven: Finish the sentiment by stamping a large sentiment and small one from the Words & Layers stamp set in black ink.

Step Eight: Using 10mm Clear Double Sided Adhesive, add the panel cardstock to a piece of trimmed black cardstock. Add both to an A2 card frame.

Step Nine: Finish the card using Transparent Crystal Craft Drops to make a few dew drops.

I just love the clean lines of this card. It is perfect any time card for that friend who needs to know you are there, either in the good times or bad.

Kinda Silly, Kinda Awesome

Hey Friends! It’s EK and I am popping in today with a fun card I created using my distress oxide sprays and designers Ilse and Charlene‘s line of crafting supplies. This project is super easy and incredibly quick to create, but the bold colors make it still exciting and unique.

Step One: On a piece of trimmed Watercolor Paper, spray a layer of Distress Oxide Spray and let dry. Then splatter more ink in different colors onto the paper and let dry. I used Carved Pumpkin, Chipped Sapphire and Speckled Egg.

Step Two: Spread a thick molding paste through the Mandala stencil onto the background image and let dry.

Step Three: On a second piece of Watercolor Paper, spray a second collection of colors and let dry. I used Iced Spruce and Shabby Shutters. Using the Budding Florals die set, die cut the leaves die two times.

Step Four: On a third piece of trimmed Watercolor Paper, spray a third collection of inks. I used Chipped Sapphire and Speckled Egg. Let dry. Die cut the floral die from the Budding Florals die set.

Step Five: Trim the background slightly, and using 10mm Clear Double Sided Adhesive, adhere it to an A2 card frame.

Step Six: Using trimmed three dimensional tape, adhere the Budding Floral leaves to the background.

Step Seven: Using a liquid adhesive, such as the Kids Choice Glue, adhere the Budding Florals floral onto the card frame onto of the leaves.

Step Eight: On the left over floral background ink, stamp the sentiment from the Words & Layers stamp set. Trim the sentiment and add to the card frame using a three dimensional tape.

Step Nine: For more visual interest, add Craft Drops on the background of the project. I used Metallic Gold, Metallic Silver, and Pearl Olive.

Mixed Media Tag

Hey Friends! It’s EK, and I have been playing around with my gel press a lot lately seeing what new tricks and tips I can come up with using it.

It is fascinating all the different looks and styles you can create using the little slab of gel. Today I am using my press to create a grunge tag using several of Ilse and Charlene’s stamps and stencils.

Step One: Using one of the floral stamps from the First Sights of Spring stamp set, ink it up with a waterproof ink, and stamp it onto the gel press.

Step Two: Stamp a few more floral images from the First Sights of Spring around the focal image.

Step Three: Using alcohol markers, color in the images on the gel press, but be careful not to touch the stamped lines.

Step Four: Add a thin layer of white paint over the stamped and colored images.

Step Five: Press a manila tag into the wet paint, and pull the image up. Let dry.

Step Six: In the negative space on the tag, blend Salvaged patina Distress Oxide through the Spring Flower Mandala stencil.

Step Seven: Blend Wild Honey Distress Ink through the Story Telling stencil. Blend a little Frayed Burlap Distress Ink around the edge of the whole tag.

Step Eight: Hand stamp some extra texture onto the edges of the tag using the Words and Layers stamp set.

Step Nine: Splatter the tag with Salvaged Patina Distress Oxide Spray.

Step Ten: Using a stamping platform, add a sentiment from the Words & Layers stamp set.

Step Eleven: Add an assortment of textures and layered ribbons to the tag.

I just love how raw Ilse and Charlene’s stamp looks pulled from the gel press. The technique is so fun and organic looking.

Stamped ‘Printed’ Paper

Hey Friends! It’s EK, and I have a little secret to confess. I don’t buy much printed paper or cardstock. I know…gasp. The truth is when I do buy printed paper, I tend to hoard it and never use it for fear of wasting it. So, to prevent the build up of unused paper, I simply don’t buy it. But that leaves a lot of my crafting projects pretty bland. So I simply stamp my printed papers, and then I always get what I want. And frankly I have found that designer Ilse and Charlene’s stamps are perfect for my stamped ‘printed’ paper.

Step One: Pick two pieces of coordinating cardstock and die cut it with the Stitched Indented Rectangle die set so it can be layered. I went ahead and die cut the centers out of my base pieces so that I didn’t waste good paper.

Step Two: On the largest base piece, blend ink over the paper using the Story Telling stencil. I used Tea Dye Distress Oxide because it was only a shade darker than the paper and would be subtle.

Step Three: On the smaller base piece, I hand stamped floral and fauna from the Spring Fling stamp set. I used both Abandoned Coral and Crushed Olive Distress Oxide to create this print.

Step Four: Adhere the two layers together using 10mm Clear Double Sided Adhesive. Adhere the base layers to an A2 card frame.

Step Five: On the large focal panel, hand stamp images from both the Spring Fling stamp set and the Words & Layers stamp set. Again I used Abandoned Coral and Crushed Olive Distress Oxide to coordinate the ‘paper’ with the layer below.

Step Six: On the smallest die cut panel, pull out the Story Telling stencil again and the original ink color and blend the ink through the cut outs.

Step Seven: Adhere the two smaller die cuts to the larger two with 6mm Clear Double Sided Adhesive forming the layers of the card.

Step Eight: To finish the card, stamp an image from the Poppy Dream stamp set onto some watercolor paper. I used Tea Dyed Distress Oxide.

Step Nine: Using some coordinating water-soluble ink, watercolor in the poppy. I used both Abandoned Coral and Crushed Olive Distress Oxide.

Step Ten: Fussy cut out the image and adhere it to the card frame using a liquid adhesive.

Step Eleven: Using a stamping platform, stamp the sentiment onto the card from the Words & Layers stamp set. I used Walnut Stain Distress Ink and adore how the letting of the sentiment matches the style of the stencil.

Step Twelve: Finish the card by adding Transparent Crystal Craft Drops to both the flower petals and the sentiment. Let Dry.

And just check out how gorgeous the floral image becomes with the Craft Drops on it. It turns out stunning!

Hi there,

it’s Tanja here and today I would like to show you how to create this flower card step by step:

Step 1: Stamping the focal image

  • stamp some flowers and leaves from the beautiful Spring Fling set with Versafine Clair Nocturne onto a piece of watercolor paper

Step 2: Stamping the Sentiment

  • stamp the first and second part of the sentiment from the Words & Layers set with that same black ink

Step 3: Coloring

  • color the image with colors from the Watercolor Set

Step 4: Splatters and more Stamping

  • add some splatters with dark grey watercolor
  • stamp some patterns around the borders from the Background Stamps 1 Set

Dream Tag

Hey Crafters! Katelyn here, sharing with you my Dream Tag.

To create my Dream Tag, I’ve used a variety of dies, stamps and stencils from Charlene and Ilse’s Art Journal Specials Collection as well as a couple of dies from the Planner Essentials Collection. You’ll want to read below as I share with you how to recreate my tag at home.

Step One. Die cut the small tag from the Planner Essentials 26 – Planner Pocket 3 – Tag & Toppers die out of White Soft Finish Cardstock. Place the Dot Dot Dot… stencil on top of the tag. Using a palette knife with Texture Paste Opaque Matte put the paste through the stencil. Remove the stencil and allow time for the texture paste to dry.

Step Two. Sprinkle Magenta Nuance in Hot Pink, Turquoise and Ocean on the tag. Spritz the powder with water. Allow time to dry. Once the tag has dried, apply Emboss It Ink to one of the background stamps from the Words & Layers stamp set and stamp on the left hand side of the tag. Sprinkle Magical Mysteries – Kiss of The Fairy Embossing Powder over the stamped image. Tap off the excess powder and emboss with a heat tool. Ink the edges of the tag using Black Soot Distress Ink and a blending tool with foam.

Step Three. Die cut the small tag topper from the Planner Essentials 26 – Planner Pocket 3 – Tag & Toppers die out of a piece of book page. Ink the edges of the topper using Black Soot Distress Ink and a blending tool with foam.

Step Four. Choose one of the reinforcements out of the Reinforcement Variety Pack. Die cut one reinforcement out of kraft cardstock. Ink the edges of the reinforcement using Black Soot Distress Ink and a blending tool with foam.

Step Five. Die cut the Street lamp from the Streetlights die out of black cardstock.

Step Six. Die cut both Blooming Branches from the Blooming Branches die out of White Soft Finish Cardstock.

Step Seven. Die cut the single bud from the Budding Florals die out of kraft cardstock. Trim the stem of the bud to your desired length.

Step Eight. From the Morning Letters stamp set, you’ll need the letters to spell the word dream. Apply Jet Black Archival Ink to the letters and stamp onto a piece of White Soft Finish Cardstock. Fussy cut around the word. Ink the edges of the word using Black Soot Distress Ink and a blending tool with foam.

Step Nine. Cut a piece of cheesecloth.

Step Ten. Adhere the book page tag topper to the top of the tag. Adhere the reinforcement over top of the circle at the top of the tag.

Step Eleven. Adhere the cheesecloth piece to the left hand side of the tag as desired. Adhere the street lamp 3/8″ from the left of the tag. Adhere the two blooming branches as desired around the street lamp.

Step Twelve. Foam square the single bud 1/8″ from the left of the tag. Use adhesive and foam squares to adhere the Dream word 3/8″ from the bottom and all the way to the right hand side of the tag.

Step Thirteen. To finish the tag, tie a piece of twine through the top of the tag.

A Modern Vintage Card

IMG_0204Hey Friends!  It’s EK and today I thought it might be fun to try to create a modern take on a vintage look.  Designer Ilse and Charlene’s new stamps and stencils make creating this look so simple with their old school flare.

IMG_0131Step One:  Stamp out on of the images from the Earthy Girls stamp set onto a piece of Watercolor Paper cut out to 4.25×5.5 inches using some water-soluble ink.  I used Weathered Wood Distress Oxide.

IMG_0132Step Two:  Using clean water and watercolor paint brush, fade the ink out over the watercolor paper, making the stamped image look bright and bold.

IMG_0133Step Three:  Using ECD’s Watercolor Palette, add touches of color to the stamped image.

IMG_0134Step Four:  Hand stamp around the edges of the watercolor paper background images from the Words & Layers stamp set using colored ink.  I used Shaded Lilac in Distress Oxide.

IMG_0136Step Five:  Add a sentiment to the image from the Words & Layers stamp set.  I used Weathered Wood Distress Oxide.

IMG_0137Step Six:  Add texture to the card using the Dot Dot Dot… stencil and add gel medium through the openings.

IMG_0138Step Seven:  Let the gel medium dry.

IMG_0164Step Eight:  Highlight the stenciling by adding muted watercolor around the raised portions.

IMG_0205Step Nine:   Die cut the watercolor paper with the Stitched Indented Rectangle die set and adhere it to a piece of trimmed Dusky Lavender Soft Finish Cardstock trimmed to 4.25×5.5 inches using 10mm Clear Doubled Sided Adhesive.  Add the Soft Finish Cardstock to an A2 card frame.

We Are Stronger Together Wall Hanging

Hey Crafters! Katelyn here, sharing with you my We Are Stronger Together Wall Hanging.

To create my We Are Stronger Together Wall Hanging, I’ve used a variety of dies, stamps and stencils from the Art Journal Specials Collection as well as a couple of dies from Joset Designs. You’ll want to read below as I share with you how to recreate my wall hanging at home.

Step One. Die cut a 4″ Stitched Rounded Rectangle out of White Soft Finish Cardstock. Place the Spring Flower Mandala Stencil on the left hand side of the rectangle. Use a palette knife and put Texture Paste Opaque Matte through the stencil. Remove the stencil. Allow the stenciled image to dry. Once the image is dry, spray Distress Spray Stain in Cracked Pistachio and Wilted Violet over the stenciled image. Once dry, ink the edges of the rectangle using Black Soot Distress Ink and a blending tool with foam.

Step Two. From a piece of book page, die cut a 4 1/2″ Stitched Rounded Rectangle Die. Ink the edges of the rectangle using Black Soot Distress Ink and a blending tool with foam.

Step Three. Die cut a 1 1/2″ Diagonal Stitched Fishtail out of White Soft Finish Cardstock. Die cut a 1 1/8″ Diagonal Stitched Fishtail out of Book page. Ink the edges of both fishtails out of Black Soot Distress Ink and a blending tool with foam.

Step Four. From the Budding Florals die, die cut the single bud out of black cardstock.

Step Five. From the Blooming Branches die, die cut the heart branch out of a piece of book page.

Step Six. Die cut the the lamp standard from the Streetlights die out of White Soft Finish Cardstock. Apply Emboss It Ink to the lamp standard. Sprinkle Boho Blends – Wrought Iron Embossing Powder over the entire surface of the lamp standard. Tap off the excess powder and emboss with a heat tool.

Step Seven. Die cut the the Bubbles from the Bubbles die out of White Soft Finish Cardstock. Apply Emboss It Ink to the Bubbles. Sprinkle Peppered Chantilly Embossing Powder over the entire surface of the bubbles. Tap off the excess powder and emboss with a heat tool.

Step Eight. From the Budding Florals die. Die cut the bud strip out of kraft cardstock.

Step Nine. Die cut the left hand side of the Ornate Gateway out of White Soft Finish Cardstock. Apply Emboss It Ink to the gate. Sprinkle Hammered Metal Embossing Powder over the entire surface of the gate. Tap off the excess powder and emboss with a heat tool.

Step Ten. Choose one of the girls from the Floral Girls stamp set. Apply Jet Black Archival Ink to the girl stamp and stamp onto a piece of watercolor paper. Colour the girl in using the Watercolor Palette. Once the image has dried, fussy cut the girl out. Ink the edges of the girl using Black Soot Distress Ink and a blending tool with foam.

Step Eleven. Apply Emboss It Ink to the We Are stamp from the Words & Layers stamp and stamp onto a piece of White Soft Finish Cardstock. Apply Emboss It Ink to the stronger together words from the same stamp set and stamp onto the same piece of White Soft Finish Cardstock. Sprinkle Boho Blends – Wrought Iron Embossing Powder over the We Are and stronger together words. Tap off the excess powder and emboss with a heat tool. Fussy cut the We Are out and cut the stronger together into a strip. Ink the edges of the We Are and strip using Black Soot Distress Ink and a blending tool with foam.

Step Twelve. Adhere the 4″ stitched rounded rectangle to the 4 1/2″ stitched rounded rectangle.

Step Thirteen. Adhere the 1 1/2″ fishtail 1/4″ from the left and 1/4″ from the bottom of the 4″ rectangle. Adhere the 1 1/8″ fishtail 3/4″ from the left and 1/2″ from the bottom of the 4″ rectangle. Adhere the bubbles die cut 1/8″ from the left and 1/4″ from the bottom of the 4″ rectangle.

Step Fourteen. Adhere the gate overtop of the bubbles and fishtails. Foam square the bud strip to the middle of the gate. Adhere the light standard and single bud as desired to the middle of the bud strip.

Step Fifteen. Foam square the girl 1″ from the right and 1/2″ from the bottom of the 4″ rectangle. Use foam squares to adhere the We Are words 1″ from the bottom of the 4″ rectangle and close to the girl. Adhere the stronger together word strip 3/8″ from the right and 3/4″ from the bottom of the 4″ rectangle.

Step Sixteen. To finish the wall hanging, punch two holes at the top of the 4″ rectangle. Tie a piece of twine through the top of each hole.
