Heart Pivot Easter Card

April 10, 2014

Hi – it’s Karen Aicken here with today’s post, and I have a pretty Easter card to share using the Heart Pivot die. I have shown lots of ways to use the Heart Pivot on my blog, as hearts are good for lots more than just Anniversaries and Valentine’s!

Below the Heart Pivot, I used two labels from the Katie Label Pivot die set, and two banner pieces from Lots of Pops. I lightly sponged over the pattern that embosses on the label, adding two Glitter Dots and hand lettering on the oval.

HeartPivotEasterCard_1

This card is sized at 4-1/2 x 6″, and I cut a smaller floral paper panel and attached it to the front.
I used Gretchen’s technique of adding adhesive  on the top, right side and bottom only (see her post HERE). Then I opened the card, placed the Heart Pivot Die on the fold and ran it through my Big Shot.  The pivots fold easily, then I was able to snip off any excess floral paper from the front and add adhesive where needed on the floral panel. This is a great way to have your patterned paper panel line up perfectly with the Pivot die and only have to cut it once!

I cut two additional floral hearts from the decorator dies that come with the Heart Pivot, inked the edges and attached them to the heart pivot. TIP:  Open and close your Pivot Cards while holding them in the air, not while they are flat on your work area. You will prevent the Pivots from tearing this way.
I usually decorate my Pivot cards while the card is flat open on my work area.

HeartPivotEasterCard_3

Just to show you how versatile the Pop it Ups collection is – I wanted a little colour behind the flowers, so used the cloud/foliage die that comes with the All Seasons Tree! I also adore the little Flower dies – AND the Curvy Leaves die. I combined them here, inking the edges and adding some highlights with a Tombow marker. Of course, I also added Glitter Dots to the hearts because I LOVE Glitter Dots.  So much shimmer and shine without any bulk or mess.

HeartPivotEasterCard_4

In this close up, you can see that I actually stamped the Curvy Leaves and the blue ‘clouds’ with a dot pattern stamp before attaching them to the hearts.

HeartPivotEasterCard_5

The three little banners were cut from floral paper scraps, using the banner that comes with the Lots Of Pops die set, and I added another stacked flower and two leaves snipped from a larger Curvy Leaves stem.

HeartPivotEasterCard_6

I added two additional labels to the inside, as a place to write a message and add a signature.

Finally, here is the view from the top then from the back.

I love how you can combine lots of different dies and come up with a unique and special card. Thanks for stopping by today!

Thank You with Lovely Hydrangea

April 8, 2014

EDHMC_ECD1_4_8_14

Good morning, friends!

This is Rita here today to say Thank You with Lovely Hydrangea! Yes, You! Thank you for being here reading my notes and always responding with kind and sweet comments!

Shall we get started with our new card? I have lots of photos to share today and the supply list is at the end with all the links you’ll need.

1. We’re starting out with the Hydrangea Peel-off stickers, double sided adhesive, Amethyst Gemstone and Green Metallic Shimmer Sheetz.

DSCF2437_2

2. Let’s first peel the release sheet of our double sided adhesive, keep this for our next step and attache the adhesive side to our Amethyst Gemstone Shimmer Sheetz.

3.  Now we can use the release sheet we just saved and take our Peel-off stickers and place them upside down on the release sheet (sticky side up) — this helps us position each of the Peel-off sticker apart from each other yet not worrying about the shapes.

DSCF2443_2

4. Once we have all our Peel-offs sticky side up, we can take our piece of Shimmer Sheetz and place it with the adhesive side facing down onto the release sheet, just like this image shows.

DSCF2445_2

5. Oh, did I mention we’re going to use glitter? Of course we are! That’s one of my favorite part!
So let’s bring out our Warm Diamond Silk Microfine Glitter and add to the adhesive side of our combined layers. After we added the glitter, we can shake off the extra and simply use our fingers to polish the surface, which allows the glitter to stick and remain looking so gorgeous, just like this image shows:

DSCF2446_2

6. And yes, it’s time to pull out our crafting scissors and cut around each glittered flower piece.

7. You might be wondering why we started out with 2 shimmer sheetz and yes, you’re correct, we’ll be using the Green Metallic Shimmer Sheetz for our leaves. I’d like to share a trick — thanks to my lovely design team friends I now know that, for die cutting Shimmer Sheetz, you need to use the metal adaptor plate so every die cut comes out perfectly!

DSCF2461_2

8. Using our Accordion Circle Card die set, it’s time to create our card base. Die cut 2 pages out of premium card stock and another 2 pages out of Imperial Garnet Gemstone Shimmer Sheetz.
Using a regular blade we can simply cut out the inner circle from my Shimmer Sheetz pages and use a smaller circle to make yet another die cut. Since we have so many gorgeous leaves already, I think it’s best to use the Curvy Leaves Embossing Folder and what can I say? I think I sat over this card base admiring it for minutes! Just gorgeous really!

DSCF2469_2

9. I use Tombow Multi Liquid Glue for everything I need to glue and it works very nicely here adding the Shimmer Sheetz leaves to the Shimmer Sheetz circles and card base.

10. Once the leaves are on, we can add two scalloped circle card stock die cuts to the middle of each circle and add more leaves on top — I like the layered and dimensional look. Now we can add our lovely little flowers too, some glued directly on top of the leaves, some added with tiny foam squares to further achieve our dimensional look.

11. Using the left over piece from our earlier glittered Shimmer Sheetz, we can die cut the
“Thank You”, add to our card and now we are done! How gorgeous is this card! I hope you enjoy making it as much as I did.

Would you like to know two little fun facts about this card? Fact #1: I created 22 little flowers without even knowing and 22 is my lucky number! Fact #2: this is probably my very first card I didn’t use any of my Copic markers creating it, no coloring whatsoever and I love this card so much!

As always, please leave your comments and/or questions in your comments. I’ll respond to each note. Hugs, Rita

Glitter Inlay

April 7, 2014

ECD Glitter Inlay

Good morning everyone,

Raquel Mason here with another Elizabeth Craft Designs glitter project for you.  Do you love glitter?  I know I sure do.  SO let’s get some Silk Microfine Glitter out & let’s get to it.

For the front of my card I used the Flourish with Flowers die to create an inlay, meaning it’s set into my card & not glued on top of my card.  I die cut the Flourish with Flowers into my patterned paper & set the die cut aside – don’t throw it away as you’ll be needed little pieces from it. I adhered Double Sided Adhesive to white card stock & die cut another Flourish with Flowers from that.
I also cut some labels from Lucy Label for my sentiment, I’ve added white gel pen around the green Lucy Label & even glittered hearts inlaid on the white Lucy Label.  The Ladybugs are cut from Black Velvet Adhesive Sheets & white covered with Double Sided Adhesive & Cool Silk Microfine Glitter colored with Spectrum Noir markers.  To finish off the front, I added some pink seam binding.

ECD Glitter Inlay flower glitter step 1

What you see in this photo is how I added the Fuchsia Silk Microfine Glitter by cutting the release sheet off ONLY on the two flowers.  I then dipped the flowers into the Fuchsia Silk Microfine Glitter, shook off the excess & gently polished with my finger.

ECD Glitter Inlay flower glitter step 2

Here I have removed the rest of the release sheet & applied Spring Peridot Silk Microfine Glitter all over, shook off the excess & polished gently with my finger.  So now I am ready to put my flower into the opening of my patterned paper.  Put Double Sided Adhesive or clear packing tape on the back side of the patterned paper to cover the opening, turn your paper over to the patterned side & inlay your die cut into the shape.  Now you will get the patterned paper die cut that you set aside & use tweezers to put all the little negative pieces back in their respective places….kind of like a puzzle.

ECD Glitter Inlay inside

I used the Lucy Label to animate my sentiment & Ladybugs Peel-Off Stickers & Ladybugs die cuts.
I cut another Flourish with Flowers from Peridot Gemstone Shimmer Sheetz to give my ladybugs something to crawl on. To  hide the seams where the patterned paper & green meet, I used Transparent/Gold Glitter Border Peel-Offs.

And finally a close up of all the glittery goodness that Silk Microfine Glitter can bring!

I hope you enjoyed this tutorial, if you have any questions please don’t hesitate to ask.
All comments are read & appreciated.

Happy Stamping & see you next time here on the Elizabeth Craft Designs Blog,

Raquel

Easter Eggs

April 6, 2014

Hello everyone,

Today we would like to share with you an easy, fun project for Easter: Judi Kauffman decorated inexpensive plastic eggs with Elizabeth Craft Designs’ Glitter Dots, Glitter Flowers, and Glitter Borders Peel-offs. Dyed hens’ eggs would work, too, but the plastic ones have a hinge so they can be filled with candy or a small gift. So pretty and colorful!

Elegant Eggs for Easter

April 4, 2014

ECD Easter by Candy Spiegel 10Hi! It’s Candy with an elegant Easter card.

From the first time I saw Elizabeth Craft Designs in my local scrapbook store I was drawn to the Easter eggs. However, since Easter had just passed, I passed on them and opted for flowers and butterflies instead. Then, when Easter rolled back around the following year, I could no longer find them. I have dreamed of coloring those eggs for almost three years, so naturally, when I made the design team, the first thing I ordered were all of the Easter Egg Peel-Offs! And, I have been waiting for Easter to get close enough, to finally make a card using those eggs.

ECD Easter by Candy Spiegel 1

First, I applied Cool Diamond Silk Microfine Glitter to the Peel-Offs using double-sided adhesive.
I selected my colors based on the paper I planned to use from Authentique. I then colored the eggs using my Copic Sketch Makers. Watch Els showing you how to color on top of the Silk Microfine Glitter HERE. I used the
following colors:

I decided to use some of the little parts on the sticker sheet as well, so I colored the bows and grass and cut them out. Then I turned my attention to the card itself.

For the base of the card I die cut four accordion pages using the Accordion Oval Card die and attached these together using double sided adhesive on the long side tabs.
Karen has a great You Tube showing you how to assemble an Accordion card using the Pop it Ups Accordion dies.

Next, I added a smaller oval, which comes with the Accordion Oval Card die, to the inside of each of the ovals I planned to add eggs. I also cut out the bunny, using the oval die from the paper I was working with. I used dimensional foam squares to attach each of the eggs and the grass.

Next, I decided to decorate each page with the Oval Flourish Frame Edges. This adds more elegance, like what you might expect from a Faberge egg, and brings more focus onto the eggs.

I added tiny rhinestones and pearls on one egg and Silver Glitters Dots on the other. I love the dimension and sparkle this added. Once that was done, I folded the card, attached the tiny tabs and adhered the bows to the card.

For the sentiment, I stamped “Happy Easter” onto a piece of Blue Iridescent Shimmer Sheetz using StazOn ink. Once this was dry, I trimmed the piece and then used a corner rounder on the corners.

As a final touch, I added a bit of Diamond Stickles to the bunny paper to help balance the sparkles.

I love how it turned out and I finally got to color the eggs!
