Pop it Ups Wednesday with Kelly – Some Days you’re the Dog

May 6, 2015

Hi, Kelly Booth here for Pop It Ups Wednesday!  I wanted to create a Pop it Ups card with the *new* Barn and make it a dog house for Buster the Dog using some soft colors that appeal to me. I love when I can limit my colors and make a quick card.

Here are the Dies we will be using

And the Cuts and pieces you will need:

DSC_1120

Instructions:

1.Cut 2 pieces of cardstock to 4.50″ x 11″ (one light aqua and one Kraft).  Score each of these pieces in half making top fold cards.  Stamp the paw print background on the front of the aqua piece with matching ink. Do the same on the Kraft piece by stamping the pattern on the inside with coordinating ink.

2. Line up the Lucy Label Pop It Ups die on the center fold of the Kraft card, aligning the nubs on the die with the fold. Run through the die cutting machine.  Gently press the folds in on the score lines and shape the pop up. Add strips of ECD Double Sided Adhesive Tape on the back of the Kraft pop up piece making sure you get tape close to the area where it pops up. Remove the backing one side at a time and adhere to the inside of the aqua card, lining up the center folds.

3. Cut the Barn out of Kraft and stamp it using the the paw print background and light brown ink. Using the larger oval accent die found in the Oval Accordion die set, place it partially over the barn at the base, centered horizontally, and run through the die cutting machine making a doorway for the dog house. Cut an aqua barn and adhere it to the back side of the Kraft barn. Cut a piece of the roof trim in white and adhere to the top of the barn with a liquid adhesive.

4. Cut a piece of  Kraft cardstock 4.5″ x 2″ and place the wavy hills Outdoor Edges die towards the top and run through the die cutting machine.  Stamp a sentiment with dark brown ink.  Die cut the Buster the Dog detail layer in white and the shadow layer in light gray. Cut his eyes in dark brown and his nose in black. Adhere the pieces using glue. Since the dog will be tucked in behind the hill, shorten him by cutting away half the body.

5. Adhere the Barn to the front of the card using ECD Double Sided Adhesive Tape and positioned about 3/4″ from the bottom edge of the card.  Place ECD Double Sided Adhesive Tape on the Back of the Wavy Hill piece just toward the bottom (leave the top without adhesive so you can place Buster where you want him.) Put liquid glue on the back of Buster and slide him behind the hill so he looks like he is peeking out of the dog house.

6. Cut a stitched Katie Label out of white card stock using two dies found in the Katie Label Accordion card set. Place it towards the bottom of the card for a space to write in.

7. Using the Lucy Label Pop Up Die cut it out of a scrap of aqua card stock, snip the connection points and put ECD Double Sided Adhesive on the Back , stamp sentiment in the center using a dark brown ink. Place some ECD Double Sided Adhesive tape on the back of the label and place over the Kraft label on the inside of the card.

8. Cut two sets of Paw Prints found in the Props #4 set twice once from dark brown and once from Kraft. Adhere the opposite paw outline to each of the paw prints.  Adhere one to the Pop Up above the label on the inside and one to the front of the card in the lower right hand corner.

9. To finish the front off I added black pearls to Buster’s eyes (Black Glitter Dots work well too but I was out) and a little Glossy accents on his nose.

I hope you have enjoyed this card using just a few colors!  Thank you for stopping by the Elizabeth Craft Designs Blog and Have a Super Day!

Tulip Delight

May 4, 2015

Hi everyone! This is Christine from Susan Tierney-Cockburn’s Design Team. My post today is a card using Susan’s Garden Notes Tulip die and Karen Burniston’s Oval Accordion die. My tulips are finally poking through the ground but it will still be a little bit before they bloom.

Tulip Delight 4282015

Let’s get started:

The card base was made following Karen Burniston’s video seen here. The video shows the circle die but all the accordion albums go together the same way. This card was made using 3 pages.

Tulip Delight 9 05062015

Tulip Delight 7 05062015

Die cut the following from the Accordion Oval Card die:

1. Die cut 3 album pages from white cardstock and assemble per video.

2.  Die cut 1 blue album page, cut the oval from the center and cut the lip from the edge. Attach the blue oval over the center page’s white oval and the blue album page over the center page’s white page. (See last photo below for placement.)

3. Die cut 4 ovals with stitch marks: 3 blue and 1 white. Attach blue ovals to the front and back of the first page and front of last page. Stamp and heat emboss (with clear embossing powder) the white oval using Susan’s Take Time rubber stamp and attach oval to front of center page.

4.  Die cut white scalloped oval and attach to the center of the third page.

The next die cuts are from other dies:

5.  Adhere Transparent Double-Sided Adhesive sheets on blue cardstock and die cut 2 sets (4 of each) of Flourish Frame Edges. Adhere to each of the end pages.

6.  Die cut 1 embossed heart from white cardstock using die from Heart Pivot Card and attach to the center of the oval on the back of the first page.

7. Die cut 8 diamond shapes from white cardstock using the die from Tags and More 3 – Leaves. Attach to the corners on the 1st and 3rd pages.

8.  Die cut 4 heart-shaped corners from white cardstock using die from Tags and More 3 – Leaves. Attach to the corners on the center page.

9.  Die cut 2 flowers from the blue cardstock using the die from Tags and More 1 – Lace. Attach to the center of the 3rd page.

10.  Add pearls to center of all 12 corners and 1 in the middle of the flower.

11.  Using Susan’s Garden Notes Tulip die and her video seen HERE, build your tulip on the front of the card.

Australian Opal Flower Tote

Tote-E

By Judi Kauffman for Elizabeth Craft Designs

Thanks for inviting me back as today’s guest designer. I had such a great time making the Flower Power Wristlet a while back that I decided to make another project that combines die cut Shimmer Sheetz flowers and Feltables. This time it’s a generously sized Flat Bottom Bag, big enough to haul library books or knitting. I picked Australian Opal Gemstone Shimmer Sheetz because of how it looks against the gray felt – silvery and sophisticated with undertones of ever-changing light-reflective iridescent colors.

Tote-B

Don’t get intimidated by the supply list! You can easily customize the project to suit your taste and your budget. For example, as shown, the flowers require three 5” x 12” pieces of Shimmer Sheetz (one package), but if you use fewer (or don’t layer them as much as I did) you will need less.

I mixed and matched dies from six different sets but you’ll have great results even if you only use two. If you limit it to two sets I recommend Crystal Flower Set 1 (also used for the Wristlet) and Bunch of Flowers 1.

Tote-C

I used three embossing folders, but you’re fine with only one or two. If you use only one I recommend Lots of Dots. It provides a particularly interesting texture. If you go for two, add Petal Power. I think seeing flower patterns embossed onto die cut Crystal Flowers is a wonderful visual treat! No matter how many dies you use, you’ll be embossing and sanding the larger flowers; lightly sand the small ones.

Tote-D

I added faceted flat-backed gems to only three of the larger Crystal Flowers. The rest of the flowers are layered with one or two additional smaller ones. If you want more bling, get an assortment of gems in varying sizes and colors and go wild!

Options:

Group the flowers in clusters, as shown, arrange them in a row, or randomly scatter them across the tote.

Use Shimmer Sheetz in lots of colors instead of just one!

Add in some die cut felt leaves.

Sew the flowers in place and mix in some beads and charms instead of using Lumiere 3D Metallic Paint & Adhesive.

Instructions:

This project follows the same instructions as the Flower Power Wristlet. You can find it HERE.

Floral Cupcake Birthday Card

May 2, 2015

Hi Crafty Friends!

Debra Hensley here today for the ECD Design Team. I have been having so much fun creating with the new Spring Release dies. You may have figured out by now that I LOVE flowers and both new sets of Bunch of Flowers dies are amazing! The flowers are larger and the dies are solid so you can cut all the pieces at once easily. I created this floral topped birthday cupcake card with Bunch of Flowers 4 and I love how it turned out. It’s happiness on a cupcake!

ECD april 18 finished 1a P1080078

Instructions:

1. Fold a piece of 5-1/2″ x 8-1/2″ white cardstock in half to form a standard A2 size card base. Free-hand a cupcake shape on the card and cut out. Cut a  2″ x 6″ piece of pattern paper for the cupcake liner. Die cut 3 sets of each flower in Bunch of Flowers 4 from 3 different coordinating pattern papers. Die cut 1 candle from Candles die set from pale yellow cardstock.

2. Ink the front of the card base, the liner, candle and all flowers with brown ink. Add red Glitter Dots to the center of each flower. Adhere liner to bottom of card and trim off edges to match card shape. Add red Glitter Borders to the top and bottom of liner. Color the candle flame with yellow ink. Separate one set of each flower and set aside.

3.  Adhere flowers around the border of the cupcake, alternating pattern and size. Fill in center with remaining flowers. Cut the candle in half and adhere with the flame above the top of the card.  Add foam adhesive to the 3 flowers sets that were separated and add them over base flowers to create interest and shape. Add Happy Birthday Peel-Off to complete.

Along the path

May 1, 2015

path_Candy_Spiegel6

Hello! It’s Candy here and one of the new dies from Elizabeth Craft Designs, Pebbles, reminds me of a garden path through the flowers. I wanted to create a card with that feeling, adding a bit of dimension. I love how the stones turned out with dips and divots, just like real stone. Here’s how I did it:

1. Apply Peel-Offs to cardstock. Color with markers. Cut out.

path_Candy_Spiegel8

2. Cut green cardstock 4.25″ x 11″. Score and fold. Cut patterned paper 4″x 5.25″.

3. Cut Pebbles out of thick cardstock. Use repositionable adhesive to temporarily adhere it to patterned paper.

path_Candy_Spiegel

4. Fill in holes with Texture Paste. Carefully remove die cut. Let dry.

path_Candy_Spiegel4

5. Add ink to highlight stones.

path_Candy_Spiegel3

6. Adhere a sheet of Transparent Double-Sided Tape to green cardstock. Cut out Pebbles. Ink randomly to add interest. Peel off tape backing and adhere around stones. Trim off edges.

path_Candy_Spiegel5

7. Adhere patterned paper to card base. Adhere colored Peel-Off with dimensional foam adhesive.

path_Candy_Spiegel7

8. Adhere additional colored Peel-Offs to inside of card.
