In a Spin!

November 20, 2023

Hello everyone, today I have used the new Jack the Beaver die set and made him into Hugo the Hamster. Todays design is an interactive spinner card, there is a lot of steps for this design so lets get started.

Step One:

Cover the whole front of an A2 (US) 5.5×4.25″ or Europe 14x11cm card blank using the beautiful patterned paper pad Beautiful Bights. Die cut a stitched rectangle panel that measures slightly smaller than the card front then set these aside for now.

Step Two:

Next is to create the spinning mechanism. First search your stash to find two circular dies one slightly smaller than the other by approximately 2mm – not to tight as the mechanism will not spin and not too loose as the mechanism will wobble.

Use the larger circular die to cut a hole in the prepared rectangular panel in step one, die cut the hole just above the centre point. Die cut the smaller circular die enough times that when all glued together measures 5mm then glue these to a larger circle any size.

Step Three:

Add 3d foam squares to the reverse side of the prepared panel, lay the circular mechanism on top of the card blank then fix the panel over the top.

Step Four:

Next use the dies from the Shaker set 2065 to create a hamster wheel. Trim an extra two thin strips by hand then die cut the pieces as shown in the photo then glue them all together. Fussy cut into the base part using the wheel as a guide.

Step Five:

Glue the wheel to the card front but only glue the centre of the cross bar to the circular mechanism as it needs to be free to spin. Glue the base part to the card front so that it sits just underneath the spinning wheel.

Step Six:

Die cut and build the hamster. I have shown how I have inked this design however you can use which ever colours you prefer. Once built carefully glue him to the wheel at the centre bar and hands and feet.

Step Seven:

Add your sentiment. I have chosen to use the Everyday Words die set 2020 to create Oh Happy day. I have used the Happy as normal then trimmed the day from birthday and also trimmed the O from notes and h from birthday to make Oh. Then I finished off with a few stars.

Unfortunately I can not show you him spinning here but if you pop over to the Elizabeth Craft Family group on face book then you can see him spinning. I hope you have enjoyed todays card I really hope to see a few new spinning critters over on the family group! Happy crafting – Jackie xx

Friends to the End

November 6, 2023

Hello everyone it’s Jackie here with todays inspiration. I have used the brand new character dies from the new release ‘The Great Outdoors’ this card would be great to send a friend just to brighten their day.

Step One:

Start by creating the inky background. Smoosh two shades of blue distress oxide ink pad onto a sheet of acetate or plastic, spritz with water then lay a scrap piece of white card on top and gently push on the card to transfer the ink.

Step Two:

Make a few backgrounds to choose from. Trim one of them down to fit slightly smaller than an A2 card blank then use a sanding tool to create a rough edge, fix to the card front using double sided tape.

Step Three:

Die cut a cloud and sun shape from die set Once upon a time accessories – 1795 and fix in place using glue and 3d foam pads.

Step Four:

Die cut and build the two characters Liam and Jack, place them together so that Liam is looking over Jacks shoulder then attach them to the card front with more 3d foam pads. Dot their eyes with white gel pen to bring them to life.

Step Five:

Attach a length of grass at their feet to ground them. I have used a pretty border die from die set Lace borders – 2022 I think this die makes a great alternative to grass. Stamp out and white emboss the sentiment gluing half to Jacks body then use 3d foam pads for the other half.

That’s my finished card for today, These new characters are as adorable as ever and now they have names too! so form me, Jack and Liam – Happy crafting xx

The Witching Hour

October 16, 2023

Hello everyone, Jackie here. With Halloween just around the corner I thought I would share a spooktacular fun card with you all. The monster collection is one of my favourites and this little monster has been turned in to a pumpkin monster!

Step One:

Cut a panel of patterned paper measuring 3.75 x 5″ (9.52 x 12.7cm) and pop it up on to a top folding A2 (42 x 59.4cm) card blank using 3d foam pads. Die cut or scissor cut a circle of vellum that fits neatly on the panel and fix in place with a few pieces of double sided tape. Ensure to place the tape where it cant be seen.

Step Two:

Die cut all the pieces for the pumpkin monster including the stem part from set Festive Harvest – 2080. Ink around all the edges then trim a small piece from the top of the monsters head before adding the stem to the top.

Step Three:

Build the witch as normal using whatever colours you would like then attach the two characters’ to the card front.

Step Four:

Die cut a panel of grass from the slimline adventure edges die set – 1925 then trim it down to a thin strip. Next die cut a border from everyday elements lace borders – 2022. Glue the two together at a slightly crooked angle then fix under and in between the feet of the characters’

Step Five:

Finish off by attaching the stamped sentiment towards the bottom of the card using 3d foam pads.

Well that’s it for today, thank you for stopping by and I hope you have enjoyed my post. Until next time Happy crafting – Jackie x

Forever Friends

October 2, 2023

Hello again everyone, Jackie here with todays inspiration. I actually made this card some time ago for a very dear friends birthday, I have used characters from past sets but you could easily use any of Joset’s characters for this design.

Step One:

Start by creating a watercolour background panel using a piece of watercolour paper and loosely paint a blue wash. Next Die cut a leaf shape into a piece of cardstock and once the background is dry use this to stencil two leaves in the centre.

Step Two:

Die cut and ink two more leaves in a different design then fix them on top of the stencilled leaves.

Step Three:

Build the characters adding some inking to the edges, add finer details using a white gel pen. Attach the panel to a top folding A2 card blank using 3d foam pads.

Step Four:

Add the sentiment of your choice then finish off with a few tiny die cut daisies.

Thank you for stopping by today, I hope I have inspired you. If you haven’t already got the raccoon and giraffe dies they are still available on the ECD websites. Happy crafting – Jackie x

Dreams can come true

September 18, 2023

Hello all, Jackie here with todays super simple inspiration which is perfect for those times when you need a card in a hurry. I have to say that this little guy has the most infectious smile!

Step One:

First I created a circular stencil from acetate using and a 3″ or 7.5cm circular die. Place the stencil onto a piece of white cardstock cut slightly smaller than an A2 (US) or A6 (UK) then use a blending tool to ink the centre.

Step Two:

Once the ink has dried off a little add a line of white gel pen just around inside edge, then round the top corner using a punch.

Step Three:

Build the Grasshopper as normal except you will need to move his head forward slightly so that he sits more upright on his leaf. Add ink around the edges of each piece before you glue them together to add character and dimension, you can also add a few white gel pen dots to his cheeks for a cute look.

Step Four:

Add a black line around the edge of the circle with a few squiggles adding a bit more detail to the background.

Step Five:

Finish off with the sentiment. I have white embossed onto black cardstock which is my favourite, I chose follow your dreams as he looks like he is hopping off into the sunset! But there would be a good few different sentiments that would work just as well.

That’s it for today, Thank you for reading and I hope you pop by again next time! Happy crafting –

Birthday Flyby!

September 4, 2023

Hello all. My little ladybug is doing a flyby today, a simple design which would be suitable for different occasions to. I have used the new pretty pastel 12×12″ papers which are absolutely gorgeous.

Step One:

First cover the front of a top folding 5 x 5″ card blank. I wet glue the card blank itself then lay the paper on top starting one corner, then turn over and trim off the over hang.

Step Two:

Using a cloud edge die. die cut into a piece of white card at approximately 2.75″ or 7cm apart leaving a bit of card at the sides for folding. Fold one side where the die cut starts then lay the panel on the card blank about 3 or 4 mm from the edge then make a mark on the other side and fold. The panel need to be slightly wider than the card blank.

Step Three:

Trim the cloud panel edge flaps down to about 1/4″ or 5mm fold inwards then starting a one side glue the flap to the card front followed by the other, this will create a slight dome shape.

Step Four:

Die cut and build the ladybug, you can build the bug facing left, right or forwards whichever you like. Ink all the pieces to bring the character to life and add some detail with a white gel pen.

Step Five:

Add a sun shape poking out of the clouds, use a circle die 1.25″ or 2cm. Layer two together, ink around the edge and fix to the front.

Step Six:

Finish off with adding whatever sentiment you would like, here I have white heat embossed onto black card.

That’s my card for today, I hope I have inspired you to have a go at creating you own flyby.

Balloons

August 21, 2023

Hello there.. Jackie here with todays inspiration. Todays card is great if you need a super quick design in a hurry! this card could also suit a number of different occasions by simply switching out the sentiment.

Step One:

Start by stamping out the ‘happy text’ from stamp set – Everyday Essentials Happy CS299 on to a scrap of whit ecard stock.

Step Two:

Use the cloud like die form set – Slimline adventure edges 1925 to cut two strips that resemble clouds. Ink the shaped edge to add some dimention.

Step Three:

Cut a panel of white cardstock measuring 5 x 5″ or 127 x 127mm. Trim the prepared cloud strips to fit across the panel then glue in place at a slightly crocked angle. Stamp the LOVE YOU sentiment using black ink. – I did cut my stamp so that I could use the love you on its own but you can mask off the stamp if you prefer.

Step Four:

Layer the panel onto a top folding card blank measuring 5.25 x 5.25″ or 135 x 135mm.

Die cut the square frame into black cardstock then again into back fun foam and glue the two together. Fix this to the centre of the card front.

Step Five:

Use the balloon die to cut three patterned paper balloons then tie some gold twine around each one leaving a long tail. Pop up on 3d foam pads.

Step Six:

Carefully glue the balloon tails at the card bottom then once dry trim off any excess. add some hearts form the shaker bits along with a few sequins.

That’s it for todays card, I hope I have inspired you today. Like I said before this card would be good for a number of occasion – Happy crafting.. Jackie.

Follow your dreams

August 7, 2023

Hello everyone, Jackie here today with this cute shaped shaker card. This new collection from Joset is absolutely fantastic, the shaker die set is so versatile and can also be used without adding shaker parts so it is a must have set! Anyway let get started.

Step One:

First we need to create the circular card part. place a medium sized circular die on top of a top folding A2 card blank ensuring to leave a tiny bit over hanging at the top crease. You may have to run this through a few times as it will be quite thick.

Step two:

Die cut a further two circles. Ink blend one circle with a selection of blue inks then attach one to the front and one to the back making the card base more sturdy.

Step three:

Next we need to create the shaker window. Die cut a handful of circular frames and glue them all together, I have glued 5 together however you can make this part bigger by adding more layers.

Step four:

Use the inside of the metal frame die to draw a circular shape on to a piece of acetate then cut this out. Glue the prepared circular frame to the acetate, die cut one more circle and glue this to the reverse side then set the aside to dry. Tip: I find a white gel pen just about works on the acetate.

Step five:

Die cut lots of shaker bits and carefully lay them on top of the card base then glue the prepared acetate part on top. Set aside to dry with some weight on top to keep in nice a flat.

Step six:

Make up the bee as normal with two exceptions. Cut two of the same leg as he is flying and you will only need to use two wings. Use a little ink blending to add some dimension then add some white gel pen dots to finish the look.

Step seven:

Next we need to add the base stand. Die cut four of the stand pieces and glue two together (these need to be study) Glue one to the front and one to the back ensuring they line up when the card is shut. Add a sentiment strip, I have white heat embossed onto black card and popped this up on 3d foam pads.

Step eight:

Finish of by adding a flower, I have chosen to only add one flower but you could add as many as you wish.

It made a lovely change to make a shaped card and these shaker dies make the job really easy, I love that there is a shaker bits die included in the set too . . Thank you for stopping by today ‘Happy crafting’ Jackie xx

Fairy cute and simple!

July 17, 2023

Hello everyone, I hadn’t crafted with this adorable fairy for some time so out she came to play. Keeping things in my go to clean and simple design makes this a super quick card for when you need a card in a hurry!

If you haven’t got a circular stencil then create your own using a piece of acetate and a circular die.

Die cut a rounded corner panel to fit smaller than an A2 card blank then fix the stencil over the top using washi tape and gently blend the centre creating the background.

Next die cut a few clouds and attached them around the circle, I have used a stapler for added interest. Stamp out the sentiment along the bottom edge.

Use foam pads to attach the prepared panel to the front of a top folding A2 card blank. Build up the fairy using whatever colour combination you prefer then fix her to the front using more foam pads.

Finish off by adding some bling, add as much or as little as you like!

Well that’s my super quick and simple card for today. Thank you for taking the time to stop by and I hope I have inspired you to have a go. Happy crafting – Jackie xx

Hello little bird

July 3, 2023

Hello again, Jackie here with todays post. I have combined both Joset’s and Annette’s dies today into one very clean and simple card design which is quite quick to make and would be suitable for a number of occasions.

Step One:

Attach a panel of grey card trimmed at a slight angle to the very bottom of an A2 card blank.

Step Two:

Build the mug of tea as normal with the addition of a tea top. Die cut the very top of the mug into a piece of tea coloured card, fix this to the back of the mug slightly lower than the top then add a piece of white card behind to create the mug of tea effect.

Step Three:

Fix the mug to the card front. Build the bird in whatever colour combo you wish then fix to the top of the mug rim.

Step Four:

Finish off by adding a sentiment to suit your occasion.

I have chosen to create a blue tit of sorts from coloured cardstock but there are so many other possibilities to create different bird types both real and imaginary. I hope you have been inspired today with my very clean and simple design. Happy crafting – Jackie xx
