Birdhouse Florals

March 16, 2022

Hi friends, welcome back. It is Karan Gerber here. Today I am sharing a card using florals 5 and the Birdhouse die from Joset.

I created Daisies from Florals 5 using a groove tool to add dimension to the petals. I colored using Sunflower Archival ink and used prills in the center (they are called Rippit).

The birdhouse is perfect for a card, and with snow still on the ground in my area I felt adding a bit of snow paste to the top of the house fit perfectly. To add some detail to the background I set the birdhouse on a die cut using the Stitched Circles. I love adding layers using the stitched dies.

I thought the Floral Burst background set off the daisies and love how that gold mirri mimic my handmade daisies. Thank you for dropping by and until next time, Happy Scrapping!

Live in the Moment Wall Hanging

April 26, 2021

Hey Crafters! Katelyn here, sharing with you my Live in the Moment Wall Hanging.

To create my wall hanging, I’ve used dies from the Paper Flower Collection as well as stamps and dies from Joset Designs. You’ll want to read below as I share with you how to recreate my wall hanging at home.

Step One. Choose two pieces of patterned paper out of the Reminiscence the Book. From the first patterned paper, die cut a 3 1/2″ Stitched Indented Rectangle. Die cut a 3″ Stitched Indented Rectangle out of the second patterned paper. Ink the edges of both rectangles using Black Soot Distress Ink and a blending tool with foam.

Step Two. Die cut a 3 1/4″ Fitted Indented Rectangle out of a piece of black cardstock.

Step Three. Die cut the Elegant Ornament out of a piece of black cardstock. Cut the ornament down to 3 1/2″.

Step Four. Die cut a 3/4″ Diagonal Stitched Fishtail out of a piece of White Soft Finish Cardstock. Trim the fishtail down to 3″. From the Zen Sentiments stamp, you’ll need the live in the moment sentiment. Apply Detail Black Ink to the stamp and stamp on the right hand side of the fishtail. Ink the edges of the fishtail using Black Soot Distress Ink and a blending tool with foam.

Step Five. From the Florals 5 die, die cut the leaf five times out of a piece of White Soft Finish Cardstock. Using a waterbrush and Watercolours, colour the five leaves.

Step Six. From the Florals 5 die, die cut a extra large, three large, three medium and three small flowers out of a piece of White Soft Finish Cardstock. Using a waterbrush and Watercolours, colour the ten flowers.

Step Seven. From the Florals 5 die, die cut the centres once out of a piece of White Soft Finish Cardstock. You’ll need a total of three centres.

Step Eight. Adhere the 3 1/4″ rectangle to the 3 1/2″ rectangle. Foam square the 3″ rectangle to the 3 1/4″ rectangle.

Step Nine. Adhere the elegant ornament to the left hand side of the 3″ rectangle as desired. Adhere the 3/4″ fishtail 7/8″ from the bottom and 3/4″ from the left of the 3″ rectangle.

Step Ten. Adhere a extra large, large, medium and small flower together. For the other two flowers, adhere a large, medium and small flower together. Adhere a centre to each flower. To finish the flowers, shape the flowers as desired.

Step Eleven. Adhere two leaves at the top left side of the ornament. Adhere two leaves in the bottom right side of the ornament. Adhere the remaining leaf to the middle left side of the ornament.

Step Twelve. Foam square the large flower to the middle left side of the ornament. Adhere the other two flowers as desired around the large flower.

Step Thirteen. To finish the wall hanging, punch two holes at the top of the wall hanging. Tie a piece of black twine through the two holes to create the hanger.

Thanks for joining me today! I hope that I’ve inspired you to create your own version of my Live in the Moment Wall Hanging at home.

Katelyn

In Sympathy

April 21, 2021

Hi There! Karen here today posting a sympathy card I’ve had to make for a boss of mine who lost her father. What a sad time for her, and I wanted to be able to send a card to let her know I care. Elizabeth Craft Designs has gorgeous products to help make all kinds of card, like the florals I used today.

To create this card, I started by cutting a sheet of light teal card stock to 4-1/4″x8-1/2″ and folded it in half to make the cardbase. I used a piece of 90 lb Soft Finish Cardstock for the card front. I smushed some Broken China and Picked Raspberry Distress Oxide ink on my craft mat and swirled around the cardstock to create the background effect. I then cut it with the Stitched Rounded Rectangle Dies.

I added some ribbon and lace. I also cut a Dotted Stitched Circle die out of the light teal and stamped a sentiment from the General Sentiments set and cut it with a Fitted Circles die. I adhered the circles offset just because I think it adds some interest.

Next, I die cut flowers, branches and leaves using the Florals 5 dies and the Branches & Leaves dies. I colored them with Distress Inks in Broken China, Picked Raspberry, Bundled Sage and Mowed Lawn.

I turned them over, spritzed the back very lightly with water, and shaped them. This particular set is pretty easy to shape since you can just run the stylus down the petals.

The flowers are so pretty even if you aren’t an expert at coloring (like me!). I then adhered the flowers to the card and added some stamens that I’d found on Amazon. The card was finished with a few accent half-pearls.

Thank you SO much for stopping by today.

Craftily yours, Karen

The Good Life – Seed Packet Mini Album

March 22, 2021

Hello Friends and welcome! It is Karan here to share a project I designed using the new Sidekick Release. For those who know how much I love albums, I also love to create mini albums too.

This one is designed using the Seed Packet Die from Sidekick Essentials 16.

To begin with I cut the seed pack out five times using paper from 49 and Market. I cut vellum to go on the inside of the packet for the window. I cut out extras thinking I might make the album larger but ended up going with 5 packets instead of 8.

Then I assembled them.

I then cut the side panel from the same sidekick set and created the pages and continued to decorate them. I love tags and cut out a tag for each page just as an added layer and photo mat for some of my photos. This tag was cut from Planner Essentials 2, which I also cut to go inside each opening of the Seed Packet page. I am going to share images from this little mini and then add the dies I used below. Hope you enjoy this mini project.

And then details for the cover:

I cut doubles for the large floral and the medium size floral for the cover, two sets of leaves and then I used the skeleton leaf from the Sidekick Essential 16 set. Ii love how the florals shape so beautifully.

I hope that I inspired you to create a mini album using this Seed Pocket Set. It makes a perfect little mini album.

Until Next time

Happy Scrapping!

Step Two. Choose two pieces of coordinating patterned paper. Die cut a 2 1/4″ Stitched Circle out of one of the patterned papers. Die cut a 1 3/4″ Stitched Circle out of the other patterned paper. Ink the edges of the circles using Walnut Stain Distress Ink and a blending tool with foam.

Step Three. Die cut the Love You words from the Words 2 – Thinking of You Die out of White Soft Finish Cardstock.

Step Four. Die cut one of the branches twice from the Leaves & Branches Die out of Olive Twist Soft Finish Cardstock.

The next four steps use the Florals 5 Die.

Step Five. Die cut the leaf die three times out of White Soft Finish Cardstock. Using a blending tool with foam, blend Shabby Shutters Distress Ink over the entire surface of the leaves.

Step Six. Die cut the small flower with the hole in the middle twice out of White Soft Finish Cardstock.

Step Seven. Die cut the other small flower three times out of White Soft Finish Cardstock. Using a blending tool with foam, blend Fossilized Amber Distress Ink over the entire surface of the flowers. Shape as desired.

Step Eight. Die cut the extra large flower one, the large flower three times, the medium flower three times and the small flower three times out of White Soft Finish Cardstock. Using a blending tool with foam, blend Worn Lipstick Distress Ink over the entire surface of the flowers. Shape as desired.

Step Nine. For one of the flowers, you’ll want to adhere a extra large, a large, a medium, a small and a yellow small flower together. For the other two flowers, you’ll want to adhere a large, a medium, a small and a yellow small flower together.

Step Ten. Adhere the Love You words to the middle of the 1 3/4″ circle. Adhere the 1 3/4″ circle to the 2 1/4″ circle. Foam square the 2 1/4″ circle 3/4″ from the bottom and 1 1/4″ from the left of the tag.

Step Eleven. Adhere the leaves as desired on the left hand side of the tag by the circles.

Step Twelve. Use foam squares to adhere the flowers overtop of the leaves on the left hand side of the tag as desired.

Step Thirteen. Adhere the two white flowers as desired in amongst the pink flowers.

Step Fourteen. To finish the tag, tie a piece of twine through the hole at the top of the tag.
