Merry & Bright

Hello welcome! Anyone excited about Christmas and counting down? I know… perhaps it’s still a little bit too early but at least I’m all organised in the Christmas card department with this adorable Penguin stamp.

Card Instructions:

Brush off excess glitter and return it to the jar, then polish with a fingertip to bring out the maximum sparkle.

Step 2: Cut strips from different shades of purple cardstock.

Step 3: Adhere the strips to white paper measuring 9cm x 9cm.

Step 4: Trim off excess strips, then die cut the Large snowflake die.

Step 5: Stamp and die-cut the penguin.

Step 6: Colour the penguin in your preferred colouring medium.

(Copic Marker Colours: C0/C2/C4/C5/C7 BV00/BV01/BV02/BV04/BV08)

Step 7: Heat emboss the sentiment.

Step 8: Assemble card. Adhere snowflake, (Optional: Add machine stitched details to card), adhere penguin, sentiment. Embellish with twine and enamel dots.

Mother’s Day Fashion

May 9, 2019

Hey everyone! It is EK here and with Mother’s Day just around the corner (it is May 12th, just in case you missed the memo)! I thought I would whip up a super simple mother’s day card for all the fashionable mothers out there.

My mother is the woman who has most influenced my fashion choices through life and I thought this card would be a super fun way to stay thank you to her this for teaching me how to be a lady.

To create this fun mother’s day card, I pulled out Krista Schneider’s Fashions 2 stamp set and a collection of Soft Finish Cardstock.

Step One: Trim a piece of 12×12 White Soft Finish Cardstock to 6×6 inches. In copic friendly black ink, stamp out the images from the Fashions 2 stamp set.

Step Two: Color in the images with a collection of alcohol markers. I used copics. For the green I used YG61, YG63, and YG67.

Step Three: For the red areas I used R32, R35, R37, and R39.

Step Four: The white/beige sections were colored with E40, E41, and E43.

Step Five: The few blue areas were colored with B91, B93, and B95.

Step Six: Give each image a glow tracing the outside of each colored area using the white/beige markers. I used E40, E41, and E43.

Step Seven: Die cut the colored images with the largest Stitched Squares die.

Step Eight: Trim a piece of Dusty Lavender Soft Finish Cardstock to 12×6 and score it and fold the cardstock to create a 6×6 inch card frame.

Step Nine: Die cut a piece of Celadon Green Soft Finish Cardstock with the largest Stitched Squares die set.

Step Ten: Adhere the green die cut crooked to the card frame with some 6mm Clear Double Sided Adhesive. Adhere the stamped and colored cardstock over the green crooked as well.

Step Eleven: Place a sheet of Clear Double Sided Adhesive onto the back of Dusky Lavender Soft Finish Cardstock. From the Words 3 Holidays, die cut the sentiment so that the adhesive is onto the back of the die cut words.

Step Twelve: Stick the words onto the finished card.

For all you mothers out there, Happy Mother’s Day. For all you daughters out there, remember to thank you moms for the lessons they taught you. And to my mother, thank you for teaching me to always dress like a lady.

Happy Magnets

April 25, 2019

Hello everyone!

It’s Sara here today, and I have a new fun project for you:magnets! These magnets are really simple to make and they can be used in many different ways.

All you have to do is:

  • Take your stamps (Cacti, Laundry Party, Patchwork and Puppies stamp sets), stamp all the subjects with Ditress Ink Antique Linen on cardstock and color them all with no line technique and your favourite watercolors.
  • Let them dry and die cut all the pieces with the matching dies. To thicken the single magnet, just die cut the same design multiple times from your cardstock. To help you stick the pieces together, use Clear Double Sided Adhesive sheets.
  • To finish the magnets simply add a little circle magnet to the back and you’re done!

Hope you like it! Let me know if you try it in the comments below!

Creating Patchwork With Hexagons

March 27, 2019

Samantha here…and for today’s card/s I’m combining Elizabeth Craft Designs’ Stitched Hexagons with the stamp set Patchwork. There are many creative moments where I’ve been really stuck on colour combinations…so I just pull out a (random) piece of pattern paper from a paper pad (in this case Fly and Scrap by Modascrap), match it up with cardstock and Copic markers and start creating!

Card Instructions:

Step 1: Using a combination of pattern paper and cardstock die cut 12 small stitched hexagons.

Step 2: Piece these together, forming two rows on the bottom of your card front. (Card front measurements: 15cm x 10.5cm). Trim off the sides.

Step 3: Next, stamp the Patchwork flower and other smaller Patchwork images on Copic friendly cardstock, die-cut them out, and colour them in with Copic markers (or your preferred colouring medium).

Copic Marker Colours: V01/V04/V06/RV02/RV04/RV06/YG00/YG01/YG03

Step 4: Stamp the sentiment with black ink using Elizabeth Craft Designs Banner Sentiments stamp and coordinating die.

Step 4: Assemble card as shown, adhering the sentiment to the (hexagon) card front with foam tape and tucking the Patchwork flowers under the banner.

Step 6: Embellish with sequins and a twine bow before adhering the card front to an A6 card base.

Below are two more fun examples of ways to create a more detailed hexagon background. At first I thought the colour scheme pick out in the first card wouldn’t work…but I’m really happy I persisted. I think the pastel colour combination really suits these Patchwork bees and that it is a great alternative to ‘normal’ bee colours!

Thank you for stopping by! I hope you enjoyed my card tutorial today and if you are ever stuck on a colour scheme just try my tip…you never know how interesting the card will turn out in the end!

Happy Crafting!

Using Stamps On Your Planner!

March 18, 2019

Hi everyone!

It’s Sara here today and I would like to show you how I use the Krista circle background and birds and branches background stamps in my ECD planner!

This page is as simple as you can see: first step is to create you background with Distress Ink and water.

Then you move on to the flowers, stamping all your elements on a piece of watercolor paper with dark brown ink.

Watercolor all the images and fussy cut them all with the fine point scissors, place all your pieces on the page and trace a line with a pencil where you shold make your stitched lines to create the stems.

Sew with a sewing machine or embroidery and add the flowers and the leaves with glue or mounting tape to create that dimention you see in the pictures.

Hope you like it!

I Melt for Cocoa

February 7, 2019

Since we are in full swing of winter, that means in my house we are in full swing of cocoa consumption. It seems every other day new snow is falling and tired kiddos need a little post school pick me up of sweet hot chocolate. So today, I thought I would whip up a little zero calorie treat that fits the seasons of warming up in the form of a mug of cocoa and a melting marshmallow.

Step One: Stamp the focal images from the Marshmallow Snowmen stamp set onto some 85lb White Soft Finish Cardstock. Color the images in with alcohol markers. I used my copics.

Step Two: Die cute the images using the coordinating Marshmallow Snowmen die set.

Step Three: Using the Dashing Circles die set, die cut a ring from a piece of Dusky Sky Soft Finish Cardstock to create the rim of the mug. Die cut a circle that will fit inside the mug rim from a piece of Bronze Metallic Shimmer Sheetz to be the cocoa.

Step Four: Using a piece of polka dot printed paper from the Sweet Vintage Rose collection, die cut it with the Dashing Rectangle die set.

Step Five: To create the handle of the mug, die cut an ‘O’ from some Dusky Sky Soft Finish Cardstock. Discard the ‘O’, and use the negative scrap from the inside of the letter. It sounds funny, but works perfectly.

Step Six: Using 10mm Clear Double Sided Adhesive, adhere the printed paper and mug/cocoa onto an A2 card frame.

Step Seven: Using some 3mm Clear Double Sided Adhesive, add the mug handle.

Step Eight: Add a bit of 3mm Clear Double Sided Adhesive to the bottom of the melting marshmallow. Add some three-dimensional squares to the top of the image. Adhere it to the shimmer sheetz circle. Adhere the stamped banner above the mug.

Step Nine: Stamp in brown ink, the sentiment from the Cute Winter Sentiments onto some 85lb White Soft Finish Cardstock. Trim the sentiment and matte it with some Rust Soft Finish Cardstock. Adhere it to the bottom left of the A2 card.

Step Ten: Using the same brown ink that you used to stamp the sentiment distress the edges of the A2 card frame.

What you get in the end is a fun mug of cocoa that is sure to brighten any child or chocolate-lover’s day.

Thanks for peeking in, and I hope you are staying warm.

Blossom, Bloom & Grow

January 29, 2019

Hello! Samantha here. Welcome to my first blog post write-up for Elizabeth Craft Designs for 2019! Today I’m sharing a card I made using Krista’s Garden Party Clear Stamp set and Co-ordinating Die. I was drawn to this set because of the cat –– I’m more of a dog person but I have many friends and their young daughters who love their feline pets and thought it was a much needed theme to add to my card stash.

Card Instructions

Step 1: On Copic-friendly cardstock, stamp the lanterns 5x on the right side of your card front.

Step 2: Stamp an additional 3x lanterns, the cat image and the sentiments on Copic-friendly cardstock and die cut them out.

Step 3: Colour the die cut images with Copic markers (or your preferred choice of colouring medium).

COPIC MARKERS USED: G14/G16/YR12/YR14/YR16/R12/R14/R17

Step 4: Assemble card – Adhere the 3x die cut lanterns on top of the first three stamped lanterns on your card front with foam tape. Colour in the last two lanterns with Copic markers. Adhere the cat and the sentiment with foam tape.

Step 5: Adhere card front to an A6 side folding card base. Embellish with sequins and a twine bow.

I love the bright colours and the feminine feel this card has. It’s the perfect card to give to a cat loving girl on their birthday. I loved it so much I also decided to create a similar layout with the additional images in this stamp set.

This card uses the same colour scheme and a similar layout –– both images are really perfect to create a beautiful card for a young girl on her special day. Give the card instructions a go –– I used Copics as my preferred colouring medium but kept the colouring and shading very simple. You could use any colouring tool!

Happy Crafting!
