Celebrate The Season

December 2, 2019

The 2019 Holiday Season is in full swing. That means lots of cards and gifts and, if you’re like me, you sometimes need a gift or card in a hurry –– this is just for you.

It’s Sandy and I have two quick and easy projects to share with you today. I like to get the most value possible from my crafting supplies, so today I will be showing you how I made a stencil using the Snowflake die set and how I used it to make a card and a gift tag.

I began by cutting the Snowflake die, using only the center portion of the die – you don’t need the outside edge, from a sheet of transparent film, the kind used for presentations (shown below). This works well because I’m using a wafer thin die but a thin packaging material could work also.

I cut the 8.5″ X 11″ sheet in half to fit in my die cutting machine and then cut the snowflake directly in the center. I made two stencils using the large and medium snowflake.

This is a 5.5″ square card so the appropriate size Stitched Indented Square was used along with the Stitched Rounded Square that is one size larger. You could easily make this card any size you prefer using these die sets.

After securing the stencil to the paper with some low tack tape, I began adding the color using a circulare motion in the center. The Picket Fence brushes were used here but a color blender could be used as well.

The second color was added using the same method. The colors I used are Distress Oxide Inks, Broken China and Wilted Violet.

I covered the entire panel using the same method.

The panels were layered together and ribbon was added with a cute little bow.

The word “Celebrate” was stamped and embossed using white embossing powder and then cut out using the banner die.

The banner was added to the ribbon and then all panels were added to the white card base. The corners of the card were rounded to match the rounded squares on the card.

For this clean and simple tag – I used the same stenciling technique and then added some sequines for a little bling. “Cheers” was added to give a festive feeling to the tag. Now I’m ready to party, how about you?

Thanks for joining me and HAPPY HOLIDAYS,

Rudolph’s Christmas

October 26, 2019

Hey Friends! It’s EK and I am wondering if you are you as excited as I am at how easy the new 2019 Christmas Release from Suzanne Cannon is going to make holiday card making this year. No seriously…it is going to make crafting so much easier this holiday season.

Today I am playing with the brand new A Way With Words Flourished Deer die and the new Merry Christmas 3 die to create this simple, yet fun holiday card.

Step One: Trim a piece of Bonnie Blue Soft Finish Cardstock to 12×6 inches and fold and score to create a 6×6 card frame.

Step Two: Using the A Way With Words Flourished Frames stencil, blend some ink onto the card frame to stencil in a frame. I used Candied Apple Distress Oxide.

Step Three: Using some 90lb Soft Finish Cardstock, die cut the new Flourished Deer die set. Color the image using your alcohol markers. I used my copics in E31, E33, and E37 for the deer’s body, R46 and R89 for his collar and nose, and Y23, Y26, and Y28 for his bell. I also used some N2 and N4 for the flourished areas.

Step Four: Using some Kids Choice Glue, adhere the nose, collar and bell onto the deer die cut. Adhere the die to the center of the card frame.

Step Five: Die cut the A Way With Words Merry Christmas 3 die from some Ladybug Red Soft Finish Cardstock. Adhere the Merry Christmas onto the card frame. I let them be off center for a fun twist.

Step Six: To add a little extra glam to the card I added a strip of silver peel off sticker from the Corners and Borders Straight peel off sticker sheet.

I hope you are as excited as I am about this new Christmas Release. Make sure you pop over and check out the whole new line.

A Camping Hippo

June 25, 2019

Hey Everyone! It is EK here and I am popping in with this fun camping hippo themed card using the new Tent die set and Hippo/Rhino die set. I am actually at Girl Scout camp this week teaching crafts to campers, so it seemed only fitting to create a girl-scout-inspired camping card today!

I snuck in a full video today sharing how I colored the die cuts using both distress inks and copic markers.

Step One: Die cut the Tent die set out of 90lb White soft finish cardstock. Color tent pieces with distress ink.

Step Two: Blend distress ink onto a 6×6 card frame using the Earth & Sky stencil and distress ink.

Step Three: Die cut the Hippo die set and color the pieces with Copic markers. Assemble the pieces with Kids Choice Glue.

Step Four: Assemble all the pieces onto the card frame using both clear Double Sided Adhesive and Kids Choice Glue. Stamp a sentiment onto the card frame using the new Build Your Own Sentiments 1.

I hope you enjoyed checking out my camping hippo. Are you camping this summer with your friends or family? Let us know in the comments below, and which of the new critters you would use to highlight you camping trip in a craft project. Until then, Happy crafting!

Baby Love Butterflies

June 10, 2017

We all need baby cards at some point! But this set is so much more.  It’s Suzanne here today with an easy card that, with slight changes, can suit any little person’s colour palette!

Instead of the butterflies, you can substitute the Stars Spray stencil design or the Heart Spray stencil design, which is paired with paw prints. Oh, anyone have a new puppy? Pair Baby love with the Paw Prints Spray stencil. Awwww!

Here is how you can make this card!
