A Glittery Circle Accordion Card with Pretty Flowers

May 20, 2014

Hi it’s Kelly Booth back with a glittery birthday Accordion Card using the Flower Circle Frames Peel-Offs in gold. I was so inspired when I saw some cards Els made using the gold Peel-Off Stickers, they are so striking! Elizabeth Craft Designs has so many gorgeous Flower Peel-Off Stickers to choose from.

1. Cut a piece of white card stock that fit 3 Flower Circle Peel-Offs and put double-sided adhesive on top.

2. Take of release sheet and place Peel-Offs on double-sided adhesive using the transfer technique Els is showing HERE.

3. Cover adhesive with Cool Diamond Silk Microfine Gitter and polish. Use a brush to brush of the excess glitter.

4. Color flower circles with Copic or other alcohol markers.

5. Cut out circles and set aside.

6. Cut six panels in white using the Accordion Circle Card die. On three of these cut out the middle section and trim the long side tabs, leaving just a white frame.

DSC_7071
7. Cut three more accordion panels, one pink, one green, and one yellow and cut out the large circles in the center. You can use scraps as you only need the circles.

DSC_7063
8. Cut 16 decorative frame edges in blue. The easiest way to do this is to put your card stock on ECD double-sided adhesive before cutting. Before you stick them down stick it to your clothes to reduce the tackiness a bit to allow for repositioning. (A little tip learned from Karen Burniston)

DSC_7068
9. Cut 4 white circles from the middle sized circle in the Accordion Card die set and stamp three of them with a gold sentiment.

DSC_7080

Now it is time to assemble your creation:

10. To assemble your card, take the three whole white panels and point the tabs to the right. Place a strip of double-sided adhesive on each tab and begin attaching the three white panels to form the Accordion card.

11. Take the three large colored circles and adhere one in each circle on the panels.

12. Begin removing the adhesive from the backs of the frame edges and place them on each panel. They are designed to leave a little space on both edges. Keeping that in mind will make it easier to get them even.

13. Now adhere your colored and glittered peel-off circles on the card, one in each panel.

14. Snip the tabs from the last panel as you will not need them.

15. Place a tiny piece of adhesive on the small tabs of the first two panels. I like to get the panels folds going at this point, first a valley fold then a mountain.

16. Adhere small tabs. (They will fold in the opposite from each other. First mountain, then valley.)

17. Adhere the 3 white frames cut earlier to the back of the card. This will create some stiffness and will look neater as it will cover the tabs.

18. Adhere circles with sentiment. Adhere “just for you” at the front of the card, right bottom corner and adhere “Happy Birthday” (so on the inside of the first panel) to the back. Adhere the last sentiment on the right bottom corner of the third panel and a blank circle on the back.

19. I also like to cut colored circles to cover the back and add a little white die cut for a sentiment there but this is not necessary.   🙂

I hope you enjoyed this card and if you have any questions leave me a comment here and I will answer!

ECD-Jackies-Dolls-Ovals-737x1024

Hello, it’s Raquel Mason here today. My favorite color is purple and anything sparkly, so I couldn’t help but create a card with the beautiful Imperial Garnet Shimmer Sheetz.  What I love about the Peel-Offs is that they also come with accessory pieces so you can layer the images. I’d love to show you how I made this perfectly purple card with the silver Jackie’s Dolls Peel-Offs.

To create the card:

1. Create card base by cutting white cardstock to 5.5″ x 8.5″ scored at 4.25″.

2. Cut Imperial Garnet Shimmer Sheetz to 4″ x 5″, emboss with Flower Mosaic Embossing Folder. Using Black StazOn, swipe the ink pad directly over the raised areas of the embossed Shimmer Sheetz. Adhere to card base.

3. Cut a purple cardstock strip 1″ x 4″. Cut light purple cardstock strip 7/8″ x 3 7/8″. Add 2 strips of Silver Borders Peel-Offs to the light purple cardstock. Add a Silver Happy Birthday Peel-Off Sticker to the left side of the light purple cardstock. Adhere this strip to bottom area of card.

ECD Jackie's Dolls Ovals close up

4. Die cut a light purple heart from Heart with Wings. Die cut a flourish from purple cardstock.
Die cut a small white heart and add a Glitter Dot Peel-Off Sticker to the center. Assemble according to picture.

5. Remove desired images from Jackie’s Dolls and set it down sticky side up. Take a piece of white cardstock and place it on top of the sticker and press. Color images using markers. Cut out images and adhere accessory pieces (hair and bracelet) over the top of the same image. Use foam tape to adhere to card.

6. Add a Peel-Off Sticker to your envelope. Draw lines with your marker and ruler for added interest.

I hope you enjoyed this tutorial and feel inspired to try out some of the products I’ve used here today.

A Fun Easel Card using a Stand Up Helper

May 16, 2014

Hi, It’s Kelly Booth here. It has been a while since I made an easel card and wanted to give the Stand Up Helpers dies a try. They make it so easy for the easel to stand up and they come in so many different shapes too! I just love the Elizabeth Craft Designs Ladybugs Peel-Offs so wanted to use them for my card today. Hope you enjoy! 🙂

DSC_7057

1. Cut card base from red card stock, 11″ x 4-1/4″. Score across the center to form a 5-1/2″ x 4-1/4″ standard (A2) tall card. Make another score line across the center of the card front at 2-3/4″.

2. Score again at 2-3/4″ on the inside half then place the Flower Stand Up Helper on the edge of the score line in the middle and run it through your die cutting machine to make the stand up helper. Set this aside as this is your base for the card.

3. Take a piece of double-sided adhesive and place it  one side on white card stock, peel off the other side and place one large and two small ladybug on the adhesive backed card stock. Then pour Warm Diamond Silk Microfine Glitter on the piece and polish the glitter to bring out the maximum sparkle, tap off excess and return it to the jar.

4.Color the ladybugs using Copic or other alcohol markers. Snip off the antennae when cutting them out.

5.Take pieces of wire and make a V then curl each end wrapping it around a rod, position the V under the ladybug and add a little glue and then put a piece of foam mounting tape on top of the wire and glue and set aside to dry.

6. Die cut The largest oval from the Accordion Oval Card set out of Blue Iris Shimmer Sheetz and run it through again using the stitched lines die from the same set. Remember to use the Metal Adaptor Plate when die cutting Shimmer Sheetz. Watch Els’s video HERE for more info.

7. Die cut a Flower Stand Up from the Blue Iris Shimmer Sheetz and snip it off.

8. Cut the sentiment from Black Velvet Adhesive using the large Happy Birthday and place it in the center of the oval.

9. Cut a piece of the Blue Iris Shimmer Sheetz 3 1/4″ by 4 1/4″ and emboss it using the Curvy Leaves Embossing Folder, then lightly sand the piece using a sanding block to bring the white core up.

10. Cut a piece of black card stock 3 1/2″ by 5.

11. Adhere the embossed Shimmer Sheetz to the black card stock.

12. Adhere the lower half of the panel to the red card base.

13. Adhere the Shimmer Sheetz flower to the stand up helper on the card.

14. Place one small and one large ladybug on the card front, using foam tape or double sided adhesive sheets to adhere.

15. Adhere the oval and remaining ladybug in front of the Stand Up Helper as shown in photo. (When the card is closed, a bit of this ladybug will peek out so you might need an envelope one size larger than the standard A2)

Now your Easel card is finished!

Daisies for Any Occasion

May 15, 2014

ECD daisy front 1a P1060540

Hello! Debra here to share a bright and cheery card to bring a smile to someones day. Flowers help us say I love You, Sorry, Thinking of You, Get Well, Miss You and just about anything else! They are so versatile and always appreciated – perfect for an any occasion card featuring the Daisy die – one of my favorites!

Here are the steps to create this card:

1. Fold a 4 1/4 x 11 piece of light green cardstock in half to form the card base.

2. Cut a piece of double-sided green pattern paper to 4 x 5 1/4 and die cut a window using the largest Fancy Label Square from the Accordion Fancy Label die, about 3/4″ from the top, centered. Save the die cut square to use on the card front.

3. Cut a 4 x 4 square of light green cardstock. Die cut it from the center of the Accordion Fancy Label die. Trim off the tabs.

ECD daisy window 1a P1060561 ECD daisy square 1a P1060563

5. Die cut daisy silhouettes from white cardstock covered with double-sided adhesive. Die cut daisy overlays from white cardstock. Die cut 3 leaves and 3 stems from dark green cardstock. Die cut 2 leaves from the green pattern paper.

ECD daisy diecuts 1a P1060558

6. Peel the liner off the daisy silhouettes and cover the adhesive with Warm Diamond Silk Microfine Glitter. Polish well with your finger to bring out the shine and set the glitter into the adhesive.

ECD daisy glitter 1a P1060564

7. Using the daisy overlay as a guide, swipe a bit of Copic YR12 in the center of the daisy. Remove the overlay and color an oval where you swiped the color. Using Copic Y13 color a yellow circle around the orange oval picking up some of the color from the center. No need to be precise – just make sure to leave white showing around the edges.

8. Adhere the overlays.

9. To assemble the card, ink all pieces with green ink except the daisies. Adhere the die cut pattern paper piece with the chevron side up to the card base. Layer and adhere the two fancy frames. Adhere to card using pop dots. Adhere the two daisies on the right using pop dots for extra dimension as well. Add stems tied with twine and fill in any spaces with die cut leaves to complete. Watercolor Splatter Flower Thank You Card

May 14, 2014

Card Front White

Designed by Mary Dimercurio Prasad for the Elizabeth Craft Designs DT.

I wanted to make my own splattered background for die cutting flowers. I decided to use Tombow Dual Brush Markers but you could use watercolor, Distress Ink, or other paint. The layering of the word die, embossed background, and 3D flowers gives this card a lot of texture and dimension.

Making the Card

1. Choose three colors for your card. I used red, orange, and yellow. Color these randomly on a
non-stick craft sheet. Mist fairly generously with water. Lightly mist a white sheet of cardstock.
Run this through the colors on the non-stick craft sheet.

2. Add more color to the non-stick craft sheet. This time mist lightly. Randomly place the cardstock back into the color on the sheet. This will create some darker blotches and smears across the lighter background.

3. Let the cardstock dry completely (or use a heat tool). Die cut flowers. Run a matching color Copic marker (I used the R32 – Peach) along the edges of the flowers to hide some of the white cardstock. Shape petals.

Thank You Die Cuts

4. Die cut “Thank You” 6 to 8 times (depending on how thick you want it) from black cardstock.
Glue the pieces on top of each other to form a 3D sentiment.

5. Cut black cardstock to 4 x 5 1/4 inches. Cut card base from white cardstock, 4 1/4 inches by 11 inches and fold in half. Cut another piece of white cardstock for embossed background about the same size as your embossing folder.

6. Open embossing folder and ink one side with Black Soot Distress Ink (I inked the thinner side of the Swirly Curves embossing folder). Emboss white piece of cardstock. This will impress the black into the background.

7. Cut embossed piece about 1/8 inch smaller than the black cardstock (so 1/16th will show around the edges). Layer and adhere to card base.

Flowers

8. Assemble the flowers as shown. Add adhesive back pearls or color dots to center. I colored one of the pearls with Copic marker YR18 to match the flower (top right).

Give a Sparkly Thank You!

May 13, 2014

ECD_Candy_Spiegel_Cutie-811x1024

Hi! Candy Spiegel returning with a sparkly Thank You card.

I used the Iris Shimmer Sheetz Magic Transfer Technique to create this card. I love this technique because you use the same piece of Shimmer Sheetz three times to make three different beautiful backgrounds – yes, it really is magic.

Els created a video to show you how to make the background. You can watch the video HERE..
Then return to make this card.

1. Cut and score card out of yellow cardstock.

2. Cut background out of wine cardstock.

3. Cut a piece of Yellow Iridescent Shimmer Sheetz and emboss with Mini Mosaic Embossing Folder.

4. Apply double-sided adhesive to white cardstock the same size as the Shimmer Sheetz.

5. Remove protective sheet and place your embossed piece of Shimmer Sheetz on top of the exposed adhesive.

6. Brayer or burnish to create a bond.

7. Peel off Shimmer Sheetz to reveal magic design. Save Shimmer Sheetz for another project.

8. Pour Soft Teal Silk Microfine Glitter over the top of your magical design. Use a soft brush to remove excess glitter.

9. Adhere magical design to wine cardstock.

10. Adhere double-sided adhesive to white cardstock. Add Peel-Offs by using Els’s transfer technique, watch HERE. Apply Cool Diamond Silk Microfine Glitter and polish.

Nesting Dolls Oval Accordion Card

May 12, 2014

Hello everyone! Helen here today, sharing with you an accordion card. Ever since I first came across Elizabeth Craft Designs, I had my eye on the Nesting Doll Peel-Offs, thinking that they would be fun to have a go at colouring one day. Well, I finally got round to it, and thoroughly enjoyed myself!

SONY DSC

Directions:

1. Cut out some double-sided adhesive, large enough for a nesting doll peel-off, and stick one side of it onto white cardstock.

2. Stick a nesting doll peel-off sticker to the other side of the double sided adhesive. I used Els’s transfer technique to get my peel-off sticker nice and straight on the adhesive. Watch Els demoing this technique HERE.

3. Cover the nesting doll and adhesive with Cool Diamond Microfine Silk Glitter, and rub in.

4. Colour the nesting doll with Copic pens, and add highlights with White Enamel Accents. Set aside to dry.

5. Cut out the nesting doll.

6. Use the Accordion Oval Card die set, and Oval Flourish Frame Edges to cut out the pieces as shown below. For the gingham frames, cut out  full Accordion Oval panels, snip out the centre parts, and trim off extra tabs.

7. Also die cut a ‘Get Well Soon’, two of the smallest leaves from the Triple Leaf set, and a heart which is also from the Accordion Oval Card die set.

SONY DSC

8. Adhere the Flourish Frame edges with a glue pen, and adhere the rest of the big pieces with a glue runner.

9. Adhere the words and leaves with a glue pen, and the doll and heart on foam pads.

SONY DSC

10. Finally, add some more White Enamel Accents in between the die cut stitches on the turquoise oval panel.

I hope you have enjoyed this card! Why not have another look at Elizabeth Craft Designs’ wonderful range of Peel-Off Stickers, and see if any catch your eye?!

Flower Cuties Cards by Judi Kauffman

May 11, 2014

Judi Kauffman is guest designing today! Welcome back, Judi – What have you been up to?

I’ve been making cards to help with the launch of Flower Cuties 1 and 2, my newest Elizabeth Craft Designs peel-offs. I made two batches. One is super fast – color, cut, layer and add a pre-printed chipboard shape. The other includes lots of layering and some fussy cutting. They’re easy, too, but take a bit more time. I always work “By the Batch” method and highly recommend it. In fact, that’s the name of my last book…

BATCH 1 – SUPER FAST

FlowerCuties-H

FlowerCuties-E

FlowerCuties-K

FlowerCuties-M

FlowerCuties-A1. Place black outline Flower Cuties onto smooth white cardstock, leaving space between them for cutting rectangles later.

2. Color with alcohol based markers in colors of choice or as shown, filling each section with solid color. Other options: Work atop glitter, use a blending pen, choose watercolors or colored pencils instead of markers. Using a light marker, add a halo-style outline around the Cutie as shown on “Believe” card with the butterfly on her shoulder.

3. Cut a rectangle around each Flower Cutie. The shape and size of the rectangle depends on the Cutie and whether or not you added other elements (butterfly and flower pot as shown on “Dream Big” card with Ladybug Cutie, or more daffodils – not shown).

4. Layer rectangle onto solid color cardstock and trim for a narrow single or double border. Adhere to one or more patterned paper rectangles, centered or off center as shown or as you prefer, adding an additional solid color cardstock border between patterns if more than one is used (as on “Celebrate” card).

5. Adhere to solid color card base with left side fold, same size as patterned paper. Card base is not visible. Option: Instead of a folded card base, adhere to a Stand Up Helper card base, sized to the width of the rectangle.

6. Add a pre-printed chipboard shape.

Cuties

Cuties1. Place black outline Flower Cuties and small extra pieces* onto smooth white cardstock, leaving about 1/2″ between them. (*Extra pieces include flowers, water droplets, butterflies, leaves, flowers, and elements for layering on clothing.)

2. Color with markers in colors of choice or as shown, filling each section with solid color. Other options: Work atop glitter, use a blending pen, choose watercolors or colored pencils instead of markers. Using a light marker, add a halo-style outline around the Cutie (as shown on “Ladybug Cutie” and Butterfly Cutie” cards).

3. Using Pigma Micron 01 and Gelly Roll Moonlight and Gelly Roll Medium in White, draw faces on the Cuties. Add doodles and dots to the “Ladybug Cutie” using Pigma Micron 01 in Black and Gelly Roll Medium in White.

4. Fussy cutting: Use sharp, fine point scissors to cut around each Flower Cutie and all of the extra pieces. Leave a narrow border around the Cuties that have halo-style color surrounding them; cut right up to the black outline on all other elements. Working on a cutting mat, use a craft knife to carefully cut the small interior spaces (next to the neck, between feet and legs, etc).

5. Refer to photos for ideas on how to layer and assemble card backgrounds using a mix of embossed and sanded Shimmer Sheetz, solid color and patterned cardstock, peel-offs including Borders and Glitter Dots, and pre-printed chipboard shapes. Adhere the layers with strips of double-sided adhesive sheet. (Borders on “Butterfly Cutie” card are leftovers from Peel-offs sheet 1275, the lacy Peel-off used on “Ladybug Cutie” card.)

6. Adhere completed layered background to a left fold card base. Card base is completely covered and not visible in project photos.

7. Using foam dots or tape for dimension, layer the Flower Cuties and all extra elements (except for water droplets) onto the cards. Use a glue stick or dab of craft glue to attach water droplets below watering can. TIP: Position the add-ons slightly askew, angled to create the look of extra petals, leaves and flowers. For example, notice the difference between the flowers dangling from the skirt on the Butterfly Cutie in the Batch 1 and Batch 2 cards. Because they are tilted on Batch 2 card, it looks like 12 flowers instead of 6.

8. Options: Instead of a folded card base, adhere to a Stand Up Helper card base, sized to the width of the rectangle.

Happy Mother’s Day

May 10, 2014

IMG_0945-1
Hi, It’s Jackie Smith here and I’m back with another card to show you. Knowing how much my mom loves to get flowers for Mother’s Day, I decided to do a spring meadow card using various Peel-Offs and lots of Elizabeth Craft Designs dies. I even improvised using Glitter Icicles Peel-Offs for grass which I colored using Copic Markers.

Instructions:

1. Create card base using flower patterned paper. Cut to 6″x 12″, score at 6″ and fold in half.
For the inside, cut light brown paper to 5 3/4″ x 11″ and score at 5 1/2″. Place Lots of Pops die on score line and cut out using die cut machine. Adhere brown paper to the inside of the card.IMG_0946-1

2. Cut purple paper to 5 1/2″x 5 1/2″ and purple flower paper to 5″x 5″. Adhere to card front using double-sided adhesive.

3. For the inside, cut 2 pieces of green dotted paper 3 3/4″x 5 1/4″ and 2 pieces of green flower paper 3 1/2″x 5″. Layer and adhere to top and bottom.

4. Color Glitter Icicles Peel-Offs using Copic Markers (G29 and YG99). Adhere them as shown.IMG_0943-1

5. Die cut various flowers using Yellow Iridescent, Orange Iridescent, Pink Iridescent and Purple Iridescent Shimmer Sheetz. Die cut flower stems (included in Daisy die) using Green Iridescent Shimmer Sheetz. Adhere as shown. Die cut flower centers out of Pink and Yellow Velvet Adhesive Sheets.IMG_0949-2

6. Place 3 butterflies and 3 lotus flowers peel-offs onto watercolor paper. Colour with Tombow Dual Brush Pens. Use a Wink of Stella Clear Glitter Brush to add some sparkles to the butterflies and flowers. Adhere butterflies to card. I adhered the butterflies to long stick pins first so it would look like they are flying off into the meadow. IMG_0948-1

7. Die cut tag out of purple paper. Stamp sentiment for card front with black Crafter’s ink and emboss using JudiKins Embossing Powder “Rustique Weathered Iron”. Using the same black Crafter’s ink, stamp sentiment for the inside of the card and emboss using Adirondack Embossing Powder “Eggplant”. Die cut label using one of the decorator dies from the Katie Label Pivot Card. IMG_0947-1

Bee Happy

ECDBeeHappy-wm

Hi everyone,

It’s Frances here again, today I am sharing a card I created using Elizabeth Craft Designs Peel-off Stickers, Shimmer Sheetz and one of their new Embossing Folders.

Here is how I created my card.

ECDBeeHappy4-wm

1. Cut a piece of Double Sided Adhesive sheet approx 4 inches x 4 inches. Remove the release sheet from one side of the adhesive and set aside upside down on your desk (shiny side up). Adhere your Double Sided Adhesive sheet to a piece of white card the same size.

2. From the Lady Bug Peel-Off Sticker sheet remove the large bee and the 2 small bees. Place these sticky side up onto the release sheet that we set aside earlier.

3. Take your white card and place it with the adhesive side facing down onto the release sheet with the Peel-Offs on it. The Peel-Offs will lift from the release sheet and stick to the adhesive on the card stock.

4. Turn your card so that the release sheet is now on top. Take off the release sheet and make sure not to touch the adhesive. You have now transferred your outline sticker.

5. Cover the adhesive with Cool Diamond Silk Microfine Glitter and polish with your finger. You can see a video Els created using this technique here. Color your images as desired. Cut out the 3 bee images.

ECDBeeHappy6-wm6. Cut a sheet of Yellow Iridescent Shimmer Sheetz so it is 4 5/16″ x 3 5/8″.

7. Insert Shimmer Sheetz into Spring Leaves Embossing Folder and emboss. Remove embossed Shimmer Sheetz from the Embossing Folder, apply Black Stazon Ink over the embossed areas on the Shimmer Sheetz.

8. Layer Shimmer Sheetz to Black Card which measures 5 1/8″ x 3 7/8″

9. Cut Yellow Card so it is 5 1/2 ” x 8 1/2″. Fold card in half so it measures 5 1/2″ x 4 1/4″ when folded.

10. Adhere layered Shimmer Sheetz to yellow card base at a slight angle. Refer to the photo at the project photo at the beginning of this blog post.

11. Attach large bee and small bee to card using foam squares. To allow the wings to look like they are in motion, adhere a double height of foam squares to the wing near the body of bee and none near the tip.

ECDBeeHappy7-wm12. To create the “Bee Happy” sentiment, use Black Velvet Adhesive Sheets and die cut one “Happy” from the Happy Birthday die and two “Best” using the Best Wishes die.

ECDBeeHappy8-wm

13. Cut the “Be” off one of the Black Velvet “Best” words and just the “e” from the other.

ECDBeeHappy9-wm14.  Position the “Be” and “e” together so you have the word “Bee”.

ECDBeeHappy10-wm

15. Die cut two of the fishtail banners from the Lots of Pops Pop-Up die. Sponge around each banner using black ink. Adhere the words “Bee” and “Happy” to the banners and trim down the banners as necessary. Position to lower right hand side of card as per photo above.

16. To finish off the front of the card add three Black/Silver Glitter Dot Stickers to the top left hand corner and the bottom right hand corner as per photo.

ECDBeeHappy2-wmInside of Card:

17. Cut a piece of Yellow Iridescent Shimmer Sheetz 5 1/8″ x 1 1/8″.  Emboss Shimmer Sheetz using Spring Leaves Embossing Folder as per step 7.

18. Cut white card 5 1/8″ x 3 7/8″. Adhere Embossed Yellow Iridescent Shimmer Sheetz to bottom of white card. Layer onto black card 5 1/4″ x 4 1/16″.

19. Place Border Peel-off Sticker along the edge of Shimmer Sheetz on card. Add another border slightly above first border.

20. Adhere card too inside of card base.

21. Adhere remaining Bee Peel-off sticker to the top right hand corner of card.
