Remember by Suzanne Cannon

Hello! It’s Suzanne here today to share a simple layered card.  This patterned paper has been beckoning me for weeks.  Once again it called softly as I caught a glimpse of it. Finally, I said, it’s your turn!  It leapt out of the packaging and practically assembled itself.

If I can make a card with an unspoken or simple message then I’m usually pretty happy. The balloon breaking free could represent any number of life changes…. It could be significant for someone leaving someplace or someone, or starting a new phase of life. What about a graduation? You don’t want them to forget you!  What does it represent to you?

Here is how this card made itself!

  1. Form a side fold card base measuring 6 x 7.5” from French Roast cardstock. Cut a panel from designer paper measuring 5.75 x 7” from grid paper and adhere it to the card base with Clear Double Sided Tape. Die cut the splayed rope from the same grid patterned paper.
  2. Cut a panel of mint coloured cardstock with border measuring 5 x 6.25″ and a panel 1/8” larger from dark brown patterned paper to mat it.
  3. Die cut Remember from dark green and the balloon from polka dotted cardstock. Die cut just the basket portion of the balloon from dark green and trim it to just the basket shape and adhere over the polka dotted basket.
  4. Use Turquoise Shade PanPastel to form the clouds using the Clouds section of Susan’s Garden ‘Clouds and Grass’ as shown in Susan’s video tutorial HERE.
  5. Die cut other balloon elements and adhere to balloon as desired. Colour heart in red tones using PanPastels or ink from a stamp pad or a crayon or pencil.
  6. Adhere Remember to the card front using slivers of clear 3D adhesive. Adhere balloon to card front using foam adhesive as shown.
  7. Sponge the splayed rope with Distress Ink and curl the ends with your fingers.  Use slivers of Clear Double Sided Adhesive tape to adhere the rope to the card front leaving the ends curled without adhesive. Trim the rope at the edge of the panel.
  8. Assemble the panels as shown alternating Clear Double Sided Adhesive tape and foam tape for dimension.

Change up the vintage look of this card by picking a palette of  brightly coloured cardstocks.  The person who receives it will say How could I forget you!

Thanks for joining me today!
