Make a wish

August 8, 2022

Hello everyone, Jackie here with todays blog post. Today I have made a card using the cake element from the new die set Party Time 1978, although you could easily add any die cut element to this simple background.

Step One:

First create the background. Take an acrylic block of any size and swipe ink across it in a striped pattern, spritz some water on to the block then stamp this onto a panel of card stock cut slightly smaller than A2. I used distress oxide ink squeeze lemonade for this step. Once dry add a few splashes of watered down black paint.

Step Two:

Take an A2 top folding card blank and use the squeezed lemonade and ink all the way around the edges then splash some water on top. Rough up the panel edges before attaching the panel to the front.

Step Three:

Die all cut the cake elements but before fixing them together add a line of white craft drops to each piece of cake, once dry add the pink icing tops using foam pads and arrange all the pieces on the card front keeping them slightly separate and wonky for a quirky look.

Step Four:

Stamp out the sentiment using black ink then finish off the design with a few stars both die cut and sequin.

This is a nice quick card if you need an idea in a hurry. You can add a number of different toppers to the background for whatever occasion you need.

Thank you for stopping by today, I hope I have inspired you to have a go.

Happy crafting – Jackie
