Happy Birthday Card

March 7, 2020

Hey Crafters! Katelyn here! It’s hard to believe that March is already here and Spring is only 12 days away. With Spring on my mind, I created this very spring-like Happy Birthday Card.

To create my card, I’ve used a variety of dies from Suzanne Cannon! To compliment the products from Suzanne Cannon, I’ve also used dies from Els van de Burgt Studio and Joset Designs. Read below as I have a tutorial for you on how to recreate my card.

Step One. Die cut a 4″ and a 3″ Stitched Rectangle out of White Soft Finish Cardstock. Ink the edges of the rectangles using Walnut Stain Distress Ink and a blending tool with foam.

Step Two. Choose two spring themed patterned papers. From the first paper, die cut 4 1/2″ Stitched Rectangle. From the second paper, die cut a 3 1/2″ Stitched Rectangle. Ink the edges of the papers using Walnut Stain Distress Ink and a blending tool with foam.

Step Three. From a third piece of coordinating pattern paper, die cut the Flourished Frame out of it. Ink the edges of the frame using Walnut Stain Distress Ink and a blending tool with foam.

Step Four. Die cut the Happy Birthday 3 die out of White Soft Finish Cardstock. Using a blending tool with foam, blend Walnut Stain Distress Ink over the entire surface of the words.

Step Five. From the Trio of Leaves, choose two leaves. Die cut the two leaves out of White Soft Finish Cardstock. Using a blending tool with foam, blend Shabby Shutters Distress Ink over the entire surface of the leaves.

Step Six. Die cut the same two leaves out of another piece of White Soft Finish Cardstock. Using a blending tool with foam, blend Forest Moss Distress Ink over the entire surface of the leaves.

Step Seven. Choose two of the Large Flowers from the Large Flower set. Choose two more coordinating patterned papers. Die cut the one large flower twice out of one of the patterned papers. Die cut the same large flower twice out of the other patterned paper. Die cut the second large flower twice out of the patterned paper you just used. Ink the edges of the flowers using Walnut Stain Distress Ink and a blending tool with foam.

Step Eight. Choose two small flowers from the Small Flower Set. You’ll also need two of the patterned papers you’ve already used. Die cut one of the flowers twice out of patterned paper. Die cut the other flower out of the other patterned paper. Ink the edges of the flowers using Walnut Stain Distress Ink and a blending tool with foam.

Step Nine. Die cut the centers from the Small Flowers out of one of the patterned papers. Ink the edges of the centers using Walnut Stain Distress Ink and a blending tool with foam.

Step Ten. Adhere the 4″ rectangle to the 4 1/2″ rectangle. Adhere the 3″ rectangle to the 3 1/2″ rectangle. Foam square the 3 1/2″ rectangle to the 4″ rectangle.

Step Eleven. Adhere the flourished frame to the 3 1/2″ rectangle. Adhere the Happy Birthday sentiment to the 3″ rectangle as desired.

Step Twelve. Adhere the flowers as desired. Each flower will need two large flowers, one small flower and a center.

Step Thirteen. Trim one of the light green and one of the dark green leaves as desired for the bottom right corner of the card front. Adhere the two trimmed leaves together. Adhere the leaves in the bottom right hand corner of the card front. Adhere one large flower over top of the leaves.

Step Fourteen. Trim the remaining leaves as desired for the top left corner of the card front. Adhere the two trimmed leaves together. Adhere the leaves in the top left hand corner of the card front. Adhere the two large flower over top of the leaves.

Step Fifteen. Cut a card base out of White Soft Finish Cardstock that measures 5 3/4″ x 9″, score at 4 1/2″. Adhere the card front to the card base.

Thank you for joining me today! I hope that I’ve inspired you to create your own version of my Happy Birthday Card.

Katelyn
