Altering Photo Pocket Pages to Fit the Sidekick

February 14, 2022
Hello again everyone, Annette Green here today with a few ideas on how to use the new Photo Pocket Pages (designed for the regular planner) in your Sidekick planner. I was curious to figure out if this was possible, so I did some experimenting and came up with something fun you may like to try. I’ve created a “Craft With Me” style video as I created my pages and I share the steps to altering the pocket pages.
I returned to my nature planner which is the Espresso Sidekick to create a few simple pages. The pocket pages are great to work with because not only do they protect my photos, they allow for some fun layering ideas and that interesting “see through” effect to the pages behind them. The first page option is to simply trim the top and bottom off the narrowest pocket page in the package, as shown on the left here.
I’ve created this split-in-two pocket for a second option, as you’ll see in the video. All you need is a craft knife, ruler and mat. The pages cut easily and also sew quite nicely on the sewing machine. If sewing isn’t your thing, closing up the cut edge can easily be done with some washi tape or coordinating paper. I hope you take a moment to check out the video, and perhaps you’ll give this a try too.

Fun in Florida planner pages

January 13, 2022
Hello everyone, Annette Green here with some planner pages from my weekend trip to Florida last year. (Yes, I’m still trying to catch up on my scrapbooking planner from 2021.) I created a two-page spread with an insert page to maximize the space for more photos. The left page is a regular page shape from Planner Essentials 4. All supplies are linked at the end of this post.
The middle insert is from Planner Essentials 35 Holiday Tab Pages and the right page is from Planner Essentials 38 Splatter Page. I went with a sunny, bright palette of colors for the pages mixing papers from the Book 1, Rusty Weathered, and Rainbow of Happiness.

I enjoyed using some older dies and stamps I haven’t pulled out in a while, like Planner Labels 1658 for the tag, Pieces of Life 3 Quotes stamp set for the sentiment, and CS135 My Life for the scalloped border.
Another label from the Planner Labels set is shown here with April from 1657 Planner Months. The flowers in the background are fussy-cut from Reminiscence The Book 1.
For the insert page I pulled in more of the fussy-cut flowers to frame the photo and balance with the facing page. The BFF circle is a fun accent from Planner Essentials 43 Circle Words which includes a total of 20 words! That cute little grapefruit die-cut is one from Joset’s 1542 Summer Drink which I also used on the next page.
On the flip side of the insert I added a cute photo of my parents’ dog Rocco who was trying to get my attention at the time. I framed him with the die from Planner Essentials 3 and stamped some paw prints and You’re So Cute from CS138 Furrever Friends.
On the final righthand page, I added embellishments from the Summer Drink die again, this time using the mug, the umbrella and more fruit pieces. I finished off the page with a photo of my Mom, sister and I celebrating an early Mother’s Day, and stamped the circle from CS131 Circle Labels. If you go back to the full page image, you’ll see I did some journaling about my trip using the Note Pieces stamp set and coordinating die set. Thanks for stopping by today. I hope you enjoyed these fun Florida pages!

December Day-by-Day Inspiration

December 2, 2021
Hello and welcome, it’s Annette Green here with a kick-off to the December Day-by-Day fun! I’ve created several pages to share with you today using lots of new ECD products mixed in with a few old favorites. At the end of this post, I share a “Craft With Me” video as I create the two pages shown above.
Working in my Olive Sidekick Planner, my dashboard is simple, showcasing the new The Book 3 papers, along with stamping from the new Cozy Days set. All products will be listed at the end of this post as soon as they are available. (Very soon!)
I’ve combined The Book 3 with Graphic 45 papers (Winter Wonderland, 2017) for my pages this year. Here I’ve used the Winter Greens die, Sidekick Essentials 5, and several other new stamps and dies.
I stuck with the first Reinforcement Pack for all my hole reinforcers throughout the planner, and used some old favorites here like Sidekick Essentials 10 (Today with Slide Frames) and Planner Essentials 30 (Wave Pocket) along with some new dies and stamps coming soon.
The new Sidekick Essentials 21 (Polaroid Style) and #1911 (Iris Shutter) are new sets, and once you get a hang of the Iris Shutter die and how it works, it’s super fun!
The candle page on the left shows how you can still use full-size Planner Essentials dies like the new Planner Essentials 45 (Candle Page) in your Sidekick planner. I share how in the video.
The Book 3 has so many great papers to play with, like these label pocket images. I’ve inserted a journaling tag from Sidekick Essentials 5 inside, and used Joset’s new Train Carts die to make the Christmas packages on the right page.
The last two pages in my December DBD (for now) are the ones I create in the video. I share my thought process as I compose these and share some design tips you may find helpful. The Today frame on the right page is from Sidekick Essentials 1 and those peppermint candies are from Joset’s new Holiday Train set. I hope you got some inspiration from all of these pages, and that you have a moment to watch the video. Thanks for popping in today!

Let’s Make a 2022 Planner!

November 14, 2021
Hello there! Annette Green here today to share my 2022 Planner and tutorial just for you planner fans!
I utilized Planner Essentials dies 3, 4, 6, 7, 44 and Planner Pocket 1 this year along with some pretty nature papers which I talk about in the video tutorial below.
I also used a few stamp sets: All The Details, Months, and Pieces of Life #1. All supplies are listed at the end of this post.
As I explain in the video tutorial, I tried not to overwhelm myself with too many dies. Once I chose those six mentioned above, I kept to them rather than having too many options in front of me. This helped a lot!
I love how this nature paper and the embellishments coordinate nicely with the new Desert Sand full-size planner. In the video tutorial I’ve developed a system for building the pages that you might find helpful, and less overwhelming. I also share lots of little tips along the way as I create each page. I’m thrilled that my 2022 planner is now complete and ready for the new year!

Halloween Mini Album with New Planner Dies and Stamps

October 2, 2021
Hello again everyone, Annette Green back again with some Halloween fun! I’ve created this mini album with the new Planner Essentials Halloween release by Esther and I’ve got a video tutorial just for you. This album proves that you can use planner dies for so many other things besides planner pages. I’ve used Graphic 45’s Midnight Tales paper collection, but feel free to use your favorite papers. I hope you follow along the video and enjoy the process. The supply list is below and also included in the description box of the video.

Celebrate Card with New Flower Stamps

September 13, 2021
Hello again, Annette Green back again this month with a simple and elegant anniversary card I created for my parents who celebrated their 60th recently. Here’s how I made it…
First, I stamped some images from the Gratitude stamp set onto watercolor cardstock with archival black ink. Then I used my ECD watercolors to color them. The design of the images has stippled dots which are perfect little hints where the deepest shadows are, so I painted those areas a little darker.

Next, I used the compatible dies (coming soon!) to cut them out. This is such a great time saver!
After cutting a pretty paper for the front of my card, I selected a stencil that had a small, pretty repeating pattern. (Stencil to come soon too!)
Next, I spread some clear texture paste through the stencil onto my pattern paper. I gently lifted the stencil away and set it aside to dry completely.
You can see how this adds lovely texture and dimension to the paper once dry.
Onto some ivory cardstock, I stamped Celebrate and drew in the black drop shadow with a marker, then added some ink around the edges and some tiny dots in a compatible green color.
My ivory card base is 5″ x 7″. I layered some black paper first, then the pattern paper, and added a die-cut doily.
Next, I started layering elements flat onto the card.
To finish off the front, I added the final die-cut flower piece with dimensional foam tape to pop it up.
A little bit of stamping on the inside and the card is done! Super simple, but very elegant. Thanks for visiting today. Have a great day!

Summery Pages in my Nature Planner

September 2, 2021
Hello, it’s Annette Green today with some bright and cheery Summery plages in my Nature Planner. You may recall my Facebook Live I did for Elizabeth Craft Designs back in July where I showed how to create watercolored backgrounds using dies as stencils. If you missed it, you can view it here on the ECD YouTube channel. Today’s post includes a new video where I add photos to those pages and share some ideas and techniques.

My Nature Planner is a Sidekick size, so I’ve used mostly Sidekick dies as I mention in the video. The complete list is below with links to all products I’ve used.

Using the watercolors (yes, they’re back in stock!) allow you to customize your die-cut pieces and backgrounds perfectly to coordinate with your photos. I’ve used the Soft Finish White Cardstock for all of mine, which watercolors work very nicely on.

The Florals 13 die-set was perfect for these tropical, summery flowers on my pages as well. I love mixing and matching all the ECD dies into my projects.

I hope you take a moment to watch the video and follow along as I make up these pages. Thanks for stopping by today!

Creating Cascading Photo Flaps in your Planner

August 1, 2021

Hello again everyone, Annette Green here today with some planner pages featuring some of the brand new dies and stamps from Elizabeth Craft Designs. I’ve created a “Craft With Me” video at the end of this post showing how I designed my pages and an idea for making room for more photos. My theme for this spread was all about a sculpture exhibit here in Greenville, SC.

Because the sculptures were so impressive, I wanted to showcase the photos as large as I could. The solution was to use the new Planner Essentials 42 “3 x 4 Cards” die set with some added hinge attachments. I share how I achieved this in the video in detail.

Numbering the photos using the new Planner Essentials “Stitched Alphabet” die set helped to identify each sculpture to correlate to the journaling of the details.

I’ve also used Planner Essentials 40 “Number Page” die set for the grid accent on this page, as well as the actual page on the right. Mixing the use of Reminiscence The Book 1 and Rainbow of Happiness paper pad, there were many great options for color coordination and texture.

I love how the new “All the Details” stamp set worked out nicely for labeling and journaling each sculpture. The numbers you see stamped in green are from “Pieces of Life 1 Numbers & More” stamp set which fit perfectly in the boxes.

I hope you take a moment to watch the video below to see more details on the cascading photo flaps. All products used are listed below:

Garden-themed Mason Jar Junk Journal

July 14, 2021
Hello again everyone, Annette Green here to share my Garden-themed Mason Jar Junk Journal using the new Mason Jar Snow Globe special. The pages are a beautiful mix of papers, ephemera, sewing, fabric, vellum and kraft. I’ve created a Process Video (below) to share how it all came together along with some tips too, so I hope you have a moment to check it out.

The new set is SO much fun to create with. I’ve incorporated several stamp sets and a few additional dies in making this journal as well.

As I explain in the video, I’ve used both of the Reminiscence Books, with a few additional papers from Graphic 45. The big bee stamp is one I’ve had for years from Stampotique.

This is a nice thick album of about 1.5 inches (3.81 cm) before adding your photos or keepsakes.

The covers are made with a thick chipboard base and the rings I used are larger than the ones which come with the special. All the pages are cut from the Mason Jar die.

Some pages are cut from fabric like the one on the right (above). I’ve stitched around the edges on my sewing machine using a natural brown thread. Vellum seed packets slide under the band to hold seeds or keepsakes inside. I explain how I do all of this in the video.

Each page is unique in its style and texture. I’ve created a pocket for tags on this left page, and stamped the little girl for the right page.

To dress up some of the blank pages, I added various Journaling Cards from different Graphic 45 collections.

Watercolor paper sprayed with various Distress Sprays made the pine tress come to life on this page. I thoroughly enjoyed making this one-of-a-kind album and I hope you enjoy watching my process. All products I’ve used are listed below.

Springtime Nature Planner

July 1, 2021

Hello, it’s Annette Green here today with two spreads in my Nature Planner and a video walk-through of my process. Springtime in Greenville, SC is especially beautiful and since we are still new to the area, I’ve been in awe of this natural beauty and taking lots of photos.

Working in my Espresso Sidekick Planner, I have been documenting all sorts of nature. For my Spring photos, I chose to use the new Reminiscence The Book 2 papers with their bright and cheerful colors.
In the video, I share my method for beginning my pages, how I decide on the colors and then determine my photo sizes.
I am SO impressed with the beautiful macrame die-cut in this set! It cuts out perfectly and looks great on any page.
The stamps designed by Esther are fun to mix and match, especially these little girls in several of the sets.
I love how I don’t need a lot of embellishments to make a page look great. The paper collection has such a variety of cut-apart elements to choose from and layer together. I hope you take a moment to follow along in the video for a demo of how these pages came together. Thanks for stopping in today!
