Hand Stamped Printed Paper

May 27, 2021

Hey Friends! It’s EK, and today I am popping in and sharing a few cards I created using hand stamped printed paper I created using Ilse and Charlene’s Stamps and Stencils. I love how you can created exactly the ‘printed’ paper you need using simply papers and monochromatic color scheme.

Step One: Using a diagonal line, hand stamp a fauna stamp from the Spring Fling stamp set onto Watercolor paper using colored ink. I used Rustic Wilderness Distress Oxide.

Step Two: Finish stamping the fauna in a diagonal pattern, alternating the direction of the stamp with each line.

Step Three: Spray the images with water, and set with a heat gun.

Step Four: Blend a lighter shade of ink through the Dot Dot Dot stencil and blend extra ink around the edges of the watercolor paper. I used Shabby Shutter Distress Oxide.

Step Five: Repeat step one using three of the flower stamps from the Spring Fling stamp set in a new shade of ink. I used Speckled Egg Distress Oxide.

Step Six: Repeat step two, finishing the diagonal stamping.

Step Seven: Repeat step three, spraying the ink with water. This one did not bleed as much as the others.

Step Eight: Repeat step four, blending ink through the Waves stencil and around the edges. I used Speckled Egg Distress Oxide for the background as well as the stamping.

Step Nine: Repeat step one using the Poppy Dream stamp set. I used Barn Doors Distress Oxide.

Step Ten: Repeat step two, and finish the stamping. Can you tell which row I messed up on?

Step Eleven: Repeat step three, spraying the ink with water.

Step Twelve: Repeat step four, blending a lighter ink through the Make Your Mark stencil. I used Abandon Coral Distress Oxide.

Step Thirteen: Repeat step one using a different stamp from the Poppy Dream stamp set. I used Crackling Fire Distress Oxide.

Step Fourteen: Repeat step two, and finish the stamping.

Step Fifteen: Repeat step three, spraying the ink with water. I really love how this one bleed.

Step Sixteen: Repeat step four, blending a lighter ink through the Make Your Mark stencil. I used Dried Marigold Distress Oxide.

Step Seventeen: Repeat step one using the Journaling Elements stamp set. I used Worn Lipstick Distress Oxide.

Step Eighteen: Repeat step two, and finish the stamping. On this printed paper, I added a second row using one of the sentiments from the stamp set.

Step Nineteen: On this printed paper, I added a second row using one of the sentiments from the stamp set.

Step Twenty: Repeat step three, spraying the ink with water.

Step Twenty One: Repeat step four, blending a lighter ink through the hearts on the Make Your Mark stencil. I used Spun Sugar Distress Oxide for an almost water mark look.

Step Twenty Two: Repeat step one using the Journaling Elements stamp set and the oversized sentiment ‘perfect’. I used Dusty Concord Distress Oxide. I added a second row of stamping using Milled Lavender and the paint brush strip stamp.

Step Twenty Three: For this printed paper, I added a third layer of stamping using the dash stamp set in Seedless Preservers Distress Oxide.

Step Twenty Four: Repeat step three, spraying the ink with water.

Step Twenty Five: Repeat step four, blending a lighter ink through the dash marks on the Make Your Mark stencil. I used Milled Lavender Distress Oxide again, loving how it blended into the stamped image of that same color.

Step Twenty Six: Die cut all six of the ‘printed’ papers using the Stitched Rounded Rectangle die set.

Step Twenty Seven: Using 10mm Clear Double Sided Adhesive, adhere the ‘printed’ papers onto A2 card frames.

Step Twenty Eight: Die cut black and white sentiments for the hand stamp ‘printed’ papers. I used a collection of planner die sets to create my sentiment die cuts. They are from the Planner Essentials 1, Planner Essentials 2, Planner Essentials 4, Planner Essentials 7, Planner Labels, and Retro Label Sayings stamp set. Adhere the sentiments to each of the cards.

Mixed Media Tag

May 13, 2021

Hey Friends! It’s EK, and I have been playing around with my gel press a lot lately seeing what new tricks and tips I can come up with using it.

It is fascinating all the different looks and styles you can create using the little slab of gel. Today I am using my press to create a grunge tag using several of Ilse and Charlene’s stamps and stencils.

Step One: Using one of the floral stamps from the First Sights of Spring stamp set, ink it up with a waterproof ink, and stamp it onto the gel press.

Step Two: Stamp a few more floral images from the First Sights of Spring around the focal image.

Step Three: Using alcohol markers, color in the images on the gel press, but be careful not to touch the stamped lines.

Step Four: Add a thin layer of white paint over the stamped and colored images.

Step Five: Press a manila tag into the wet paint, and pull the image up. Let dry.

Step Six: In the negative space on the tag, blend Salvaged patina Distress Oxide through the Spring Flower Mandala stencil.

Step Seven: Blend Wild Honey Distress Ink through the Story Telling stencil. Blend a little Frayed Burlap Distress Ink around the edge of the whole tag.

Step Eight: Hand stamp some extra texture onto the edges of the tag using the Words and Layers stamp set.

Step Nine: Splatter the tag with Salvaged Patina Distress Oxide Spray.

Step Ten: Using a stamping platform, add a sentiment from the Words & Layers stamp set.

Step Eleven: Add an assortment of textures and layered ribbons to the tag.

I just love how raw Ilse and Charlene’s stamp looks pulled from the gel press. The technique is so fun and organic looking.

Let us know in the comments below if you ever play around with your stamps on a gel press, or if you are interested in try out this technique. Until then, happy crafting!

Clean and simple cards with basic fitted dies

April 7, 2021

Hello everyone, it´s Sanna Lippert here again today with another card tutorial share. Today I wanted to show you how you can use the basic fitted/nesting dies to create colorful, yet simple, card backgrounds in just a few simple steps.

You only need a selection of basic fitted dies (for exampe rectangles, stars, hexacons or squares), a stamp set and a selection of colored cardstock. I chose to do a more monochromatic pattern on the above cards, but you could do more variation by picking all colours of the rainbow for a background. Here is how these cards were done:

Step 1: Pick three colours of cardstock in similar tones (I used grey, teal and blue tones). Then pick three of the smaller sized nesting Stitched Rectangles and die cut two pieces each with the smaller dies from the cardstock and one bigger sized piece.

Step 2: Arrange the pieces onto a card base and adhere them on place with Clear Double Sided Tape. Flip the card over and cut any excess pieces with scissors.

Step 3: Take a piece of black cardstock and stamp a sentiment with the “Build Your Own Sentiment 1” stamp set using embossing ink and fine white embossing powder. Heat set the powder with a heat tool and adhere the sentiment onto the card with 3D foam pads. For additional detail you can add some embossed stars around the sentiment and a few Craft Drops, if you want to.

Here are some variations on you can do using other fitted dies – I used the Stitched Hexacons and Stitched Stars:

As you can see, by changing the color combination and the dies or the sentiments, you can create cards for various occations using the same basic idea!

I´ve also recorded the steps for you, so you get a better idea of each and every step:

I hope I could inspire you to make some fun card backgrounds with your nesting dies!! See you again next month with another card idea!!

Happy crafting,
xxx, Sanna

Personalized Pencil Box

March 21, 2021

Hello friends – it’s Sandy Diller here with a cute project that the kids are going to love going to school with. While shopping at the Dollar Tree a few days ago I came upon these cute pencil boxes so picked up two. I decorated them with some special students in mind.

These pencil boxes were so easy to decorate using the Joset Designs Once Upon A Time Collection and then simply adding the names with a label maker.

Any child would love to have this personalized pencil box to take to school or just keep at home in their room.

I began by cutting out the Castle Folding card and adding some stamping and coloring.

Next – using White Soft Finish Cardstock to cut out the Prince and Princess and then added the colors I wanted. You could use any coloring medium you may have in your art supplies.

After cutting up the Castle into sections that would fit on the box, I added some colorful flags and roof pieces.

After adding the Castle to the box, the Prince and Princess were added.

I love making cards but really enjoy making items with my dies that are fun and useful – I hope you will give it a try.

Have a great and creative day,

Sandy

Stamped ‘Printed’ Paper

February 25, 2021

Hey Friends! It’s EK, and I have a little secret to confess. I don’t buy much printed paper or cardstock. I know…gasp. The truth is when I do buy printed paper, I tend to hoard it and never use it for fear of wasting it. So, to prevent the build up of unused paper, I simply don’t buy it. But that leaves a lot of my crafting projects pretty bland. So I simply stamp my printed papers, and then I always get what I want. And frankly I have found that designer Ilse and Charlene’s stamps are perfect for my stamped ‘printed’ paper.

Step One: Pick two pieces of coordinating cardstock and die cut it with the Stitched Indented Rectangle die set so it can be layered. I went ahead and die cut the centers out of my base pieces so that I didn’t waste good paper.

Step Two: On the largest base piece, blend ink over the paper using the Story Telling stencil. I used Tea Dye Distress Oxide because it was only a shade darker than the paper and would be subtle.

Step Three: On the smaller base piece, I hand stamped floral and fauna from the Spring Fling stamp set. I used both Abandoned Coral and Crushed Olive Distress Oxide to create this print.

Step Four: Adhere the two layers together using 10mm Clear Double Sided Adhesive. Adhere the base layers to an A2 card frame.

Step Five: On the large focal panel, hand stamp images from both the Spring Fling stamp set and the Words & Layers stamp set. Again I used Abandoned Coral and Crushed Olive Distress Oxide to coordinate the ‘paper’ with the layer below.

Step Six: On the smallest die cut panel, pull out the Story Telling stencil again and the original ink color and blend the ink through the cut outs.

Step Seven: Adhere the two smaller die cuts to the larger two with 6mm Clear Double Sided Adhesive forming the layers of the card.

Step Eight: To finish the card, stamp an image from the Poppy Dream stamp set onto some watercolor paper. I used Tea Dyed Distress Oxide.

Step Nine: Using some coordinating water-soluble ink, watercolor in the poppy. I used both Abandoned Coral and Crushed Olive Distress Oxide.

Step Ten: Fussy cut out the image and adhere it to the card frame using a liquid adhesive.

Step Eleven: Using a stamping platform, stamp the sentiment onto the card from the Words & Layers stamp set. I used Walnut Stain Distress Ink and adore how the letting of the sentiment matches the style of the stencil.

Step Twelve: Finish the card by adding Transparent Crystal Craft Drops to both the flower petals and the sentiment. Let Dry.

And just check out how gorgeous the floral image becomes with the Craft Drops on it. It turns out stunning!

So what do you think? Do you like my hand stamped ‘printed’ paper? Let me know in the comments below.

Until then, happy crafting.

Earthy Girl in shades of Brown

January 28, 2021

Hey Friends! It’s EK and today I thought I would play around a little bit with a few stamps from Ilse and Charlene and do a little no line coloring. There really is something special about no line coloring and the Earthy Girls stamps are perfect for this technique.

Step One: Stamp one of the Earthy Girls stamp set images onto a piece of trimmed 90lb Soft Finish Cardstock in a fading ink.

Step One: Color in the image with alcohol markers one section at a time. I used copics.

Step Two: Don’t be afraid to use a fine point pen or gel pen to add details to the no line coloring.

Step Three: Stamp leaf images from the First Sights of Spring stamp set onto the cardstock using the fadeout ink.

I realize a lot of detail of the leaves were lost during no line coloring technique, but I do love how they turned out.

Step Four: Lay the Waves stencil over the cardstock and blend distress oxide through the gaps.

I used both Dyed Tea and Antique Linen Distress Oxide.

Step Five: Die cut the cardstock with one of the dies from the Stitched Rounded Rectangle die set. Stamp a sentiment onto the card using coordinating ink from the Moments of Life stamp set.

Step Six: Finally, using 6mm Clear Double Sided Adhesive, adhere the cardstock to an A2 card frame.

Let us know in the comments below what you think of this no line coloring technique and what Ilse and Charlene stamp set you would use it on. Until then, happy crafting.

Winter Wishes Snowman card

January 7, 2021

Hello and Happy New Year 2021! It´s Sanna here again with my January project share. I wanted to create a winter themed greeting card for this month and used the cute Jack Frost die by Joset with Planner Essentials Christmas Figures tree die to create the winter scene.

Here are the steps to the card:

Step 1: Die cut a strip of white paper with Adventure Edges to create a DIY stencil from paper. Use it to ink the background could pattern onto a white card base.
Step 2: Apply a Clear Double Sided Adhesive Sheet onto a piece of white Soft Finish Cardstock and die cut the tree from Planner Essentials 34 Christmas Figures die set. Make sure the adhesive is on the backside when die cutting the whole tree, but pointing towards you when die cutting the filigrane tree die piece. You will need the adhesive on top of be able to add glitter later.
Step 3: Now die cut the Snowflake from white Soft Finish Cardstock (also add an adhesive sheet on the back here too for easier adhering). Also die cut a few snowflakes using the Snow Globe die set, but this time again make sure the adhesive is on top.

Step 4: Using Distress Inks, apply color to the tree and the snowman parts. I used tones: Gathered Twigs, Old Paper, Black Soot, Evergreen Bough, Salty Ocean and Spiced Marmalade.
Step 5: Apply Cool Diamond Silk Microfine Glitter onto the filigrane tree piece as well as the snowflakes.

Step 6: Adhere the green inked tree onto the card base and attach the filigrane, glittered tree piece on top. Now build the snowman together and adhere all pieces on place.
Step 7: Now use the For You stamp set by Sue Smith in combination with Joset´s Winter Sentiments to create the sentiment: “Winter Wishes” and stamp that onto the bottom of the card with black stamp ink. Apply the glittered snowflakes onto the background and the card is done.

I´ve again recorded a start-to-finish video for you to watch. I hope it gives you an even better idea on each and every step of this card.

I hope you enjoy this little card tutorial and get inspired to create fun wintery cards yourself! Wishing you all a nice January!!

Happy crafting,

Christmas present packaging set

December 6, 2020

Hello everyone, it’s Sanna here today with my last project for this year. Today I’d like to share a little set with you, consisting of a Christmas gitft tag, a Christmas card and a tiny Christmas box.

I’ll share the steps for the box as well as the tag, the card is done in the same way as the tag.

First take a piece of patterend paper in your choice of pattern and colours and die cut it using the Pizza Box die.

Now take a piece of white Soft Finish Cardstock and back it with Clear Double Sided Adhesive Sheet. Then die cut the circles, the flower pattern and the scalloped square piece with your die cutting machine.

Next adhere the scalloped square piece onto the box. After that ink the flower piece in two tones (I used Distress Ink in Victorian Velvet and Festive Berries here) to create more interest to the pattern. Then take the negative pieces and ink them blue (I used Distress Ink Salty Ocean for these parts).

Now adhere the flower pattern and the negative (blue inked) pieces in place. Then finish this step of the box by building it together.

Next add the same blue ink onto the bigger circle using an ink blending tool. Then take the smaller circle piece and add a stamped sentiment to it (I used Build Your Own Sentiment 1) and ink the edges red. Now layer the circles on top of each other and add Craft Drops around the inner circle for additional decor.

For the gift tag I combined the Pizza Box die cut set with the Planner Essentials 21 Note Pieces.

First die cut the pieces shown in the gallery above. I used white cardstock and the same patterned paper that I used for the box as I wanted to create a fun matching set. After die cutting, repeat the inking, stamping and assembling process like on the box before.

For a fun additional detail I added a stamped sentiment (I used the Winter Sentiments stamp set here) on top of the layered circles for both the card and tag. It just adds a little additional detail to them.

For the card I used the same Pizza Box die cut set and additionally die cut the patterned paper for the background using the Stitched Rounded Rectangle die set. The other steps are exactly the same like on the tag and the box before.

And by using only three colours it’s easy to keep the set harmonious. This gift set is perfect to carry a bracelet or small jewellery of some kind. If you change the color combination, you can easily do a completely different looking set using the exact same steps. Imagine using black and white and a hint of gold. Since the patterned paper I used is from my older stash, I added a few alternative paper suggestions to the product list below that I think would work nicely with red, white and blue color combination.

I hope that I inspired you with my little Christmas gift set today. This set could also easily be put into mail for those loved ones who we cannot see this year. I wish you all a lovely holiday time even though the situation we are all living in at the moment, is different then usual.

Wishing you all the best for this holiday season and lots of health!
xxx, Sanna
