Hello Friends!
This is Anita here. I am an avid card maker and love trying out new methods to get innovative cards. Card making involves many techniques, stamping and masking are among them. My project today features both to create a layered scene.
I have used Krista Schneider’s Row Houses Clear Stamps set and coordinating dies.
Instructions for making the card
1. Stamp the images with VersaFine Onyx Black ink on scrap paper to use as masks. Cut them out.
2. On a white card panel (4″ x 5.25″), start stamping from the left side using the masks and creating a scene where buildings and trees overlap.
3. This is the first row of houses. It will be in the background and it is entirely built with masking (no die cutting for this part of the card).
4. Hand cut around the top portion as shown in the photo below.
5. Now stamp the images again, this time on watercolor paper. Color with Zig Real Brush Pens.
6. Cut out the images using the coordinating dies.
7. Arrange and adhere the die cut images as shown, using 3D foam tape for dimension, to create the 2nd row of houses and trees.
8. Distress a 4 ” x 5.25″ card panel with Distress Ink in Tumbled Glass, Spiced Marmalade and Chipped Sapphire. Spritz a little with water and dry to create a speckled effect for the sky.
9. Below the second row of houses, color a sidewalk and use a fine nib pen to create the look of bricks. Keep the drawing loose and random.
10. Adhere the card onto a black mat layer, leaving a narrow border. Repeat with a white mat. Adhere to a black top-fold card base that is large enough to also accommodate a strip of patterned paper at the bottom. Optional: Add a stamped sentiment to finish the card.
