Hello Crafty Friends! Kathy Jo here to share a sea-inspired birthday card using the lovely Happy Birthday 2 die set from Suzanne Cannon’s A Way With Words collection. Such a great die set- I have used this set several times…love it! Also used on the card is one of my new favorite die sets: Lighthouse from Joset Designs. The birthday greeting and lighthouse go very well together. While I was making the card I decided to make extras of the die cuts so that I can make another card for the stash. (Perfect excuse for more die cutting fun!)
Instructions:
Create a 5 1/2″ x 5 1/2″ tent-fold (top-fold) card from dark blue cardstock. Cut patterned paper to 5 1/4″ x 5 1/4″. Apply Distress Ink in Pumice Stone along the edges. Mount onto card base.
Apply Clear Double Sided Adhesive Sheet or Tape to back of red cardstock. Die cut using Happy Birthday set.
Apply Clear Double Sided Adhesive Sheet or Tape to back of red, dark blue, and oatmeal cardstock. Die cut using Lighthouse dies. Assemble lighthouse as shown above. (Note: the die cuts were not assembled to the card base at this point- but for a nice simple card without a frame it could be complete with just the lighthouse and greeting.)Die cut blue, oatmeal and Kraft brown cardstock using Fitted Frames 2 Lace Squares. Apply Distress Ink along edges. Adhere to card base. The frame die cuts from largest frame to smallest: oatmeal then dark blue and Kraft brown. (Note: the card used three of the frame die cuts but that number could easily change as shown above and it would also look nice.)Assemble all Lighthouse die cuts as shown. Apply Clear Gloss Pearl Pen and Stickles to Lighthouse.
Apply Clear Gloss Pearl Pen to Happy Birthday die cuts.
After card front is dry, die cut dark blue cardstock using the anchor and flag dies from the Lighthouse set. Assemble flag to top of the “y” in “happy”. Cut a pie-shaped piece out of the anchor ring and hang from the swirl under “birthday”.
For the inside of the card: Cut oatmeal cardstock to 5 1/4″ x 5 1/4″. Apply Kraft brown die cut from Fitted Frames 2 – Lace Squares. Die cut anchor and adhere as shown. (Admittedly, I wished that I had bought one of the Joset Designs Shells die sets as the anchor and several seashell die cuts would have looked so sweet along the bottom of the frame!)Product used:
