Hi there, it’s Katelyn from A Creative Journey guest designing back on the blog today and sharing with you this Happy Holidays Christmas card. I’ve been busy creating my Christmas cards, so I thought I’d share with you a Christmas card created using a variety of fantastic Els van de Burgt dies, Elizabeth Craft Designs products, Susan’s Garden Club dies and a Joset Designs stamp set. Let me share with you how I made it.
1. Die cut a piece of patterned paper using the 5 1/4″ x 5 1/4″ Stitched Square die.
2. Die cut a piece of patterned paper using the 5″ x 5″ Stitched Square die.
3. Die cut the medium sized Entwine Circle using 100lb Soft Finish Cardstock.
4. Die cut the border with dots on it from the Holiday Garlands 1, fourteen times out of 100lb Soft Finish Cardstock.
5. Cut the die cut border pieces with dots on them into smaller pieces. Adhere and shape each cut piece to fit around the entwined circle. Keep adding cut pieces until there is at least three layers built up around the circle.
6. Die cut a piece of patterned paper using the 3″ Stitched Circle die.
7. Die cut a 2 3/4″ Stitched Circle from 100lb Soft Finish Cardstock. Once die cut, blend Fired Brick and Walnut Stain Distress Ink over the entire surface.
8. Apply Jet Black Archival Ink to the Happy Holidays stamp and stamp in the middle of the coloured stitched circle.
9. Blend Fired Brick and Walnut Stain Distress Ink onto a piece of 100lb Soft Finish Cardstock. Die cut five poinsettias, twenty five large petals, twenty medium petals and fifteen small petals.
10. Blend Pine Needles and Walnut Stain Distress Ink onto a piece of 100lb Soft Finish Cardstock. Die cut twenty five leaves.
11. Blend Mustard Seed and Walnut Stain Distress Ink onto a scrap piece of 100lb Soft Finish Cardstock. Die cut the dot die five times.
12. Shape the poinsettia pieces using a stylus. Adhere the poinsettias together.
13. Adhere a piece of Clear Double Sided Adhesive Sheet to a piece of 100lb Soft Finish Cardstock. Use the snowflake dies from the Entwined Circles to die cut out seven snowflakes.
14. Peel off the release sheet to expose the adhesive on the front of the snowflakes and sprinkle White Silk Microfine Glitter over them. Tap off excess glitter. Polish the glitter with a fingertip. Repeat for all snowflakes. (Note: White Silk Microfine Glitter is opaque. For more sparkle, substitute Warm or Cool Diamond.)
15. Add Transparent/Gold Glitter Dots to the center of the snowflakes.
16. Edge distress the stitched squares and circles. With the edges distressed, ink the edges of the stitched squares and circles using a blending tool and Black Soot Distress Ink.
17. Adhere the 5″ stitched square to the 5 1/4″ stitched square.
18. Adhere the 2 3/4″ stamped stitched circle to the 3″ stitched circle. Adhere the stitched circles to the middle of the 5″ stitched square.
19. Use foam squares to pop the wreath up overtop of the stitched circles.
20. Embellish the dots on the wreath using Red/Gold Glitter Dots.
21. Adhere three poinsettias in the top left hand corner and two poinsettias in the bottom right hand corner of the card front. Adhere four snowflakes in the top left hand corner amongst the poinsettias and adhere three snowflakes in the bottom right hand corner amongst the poinsettias.
22. Cut a 5 1/2″ x 11″ cardbase out of 100lb Soft Finish Cardstock. Score at 5 1/2″. Adhere the card front to the cardbase.
Thanks for joining me today! I hope that I’ve inspired you to re-create this Happy Holidays Christmas card at home.
