Spring Magic Wall Hanging

April 4, 2020

Hey Crafters! Katelyn here! Spring is here and I’m so glad that it has finally arrived. The days are starting to get longer and with the longer days, comes new home decor pieces for my home. For todays project, I’ve created this Spring Magic Wall Hanging.

To create my wall hanging, I’ve used a variety of dies from Suzanne Cannon! To compliment the products from Suzanne Cannon, I’ve also used dies from Els van de Burgt Studio. Read below as I have a tutorial for you on how to recreate my wall hanging.

Step One. Die cut the 5 3/4″ Stitched Rectangle out of a thin piece of chipboard or cardboard. Die cut the 5 3/4″ Stitched Rectangle out of a piece of book page. Distress the edges of both rectangles. Ink the edges of both rectangles using Hickory Smoke Distress Ink and a blending tool with foam.

Step Two. Choose three pieces of coordinating spring paper. From one of the patterned papers, die cut a 5 1/4″ Stitched Rectangle. From the second patterned paper, die cut a 4 3/4″ Stitched Rectangle. From the third patterned paper, die cut a 4 1/4″ Stitched Rectangle. Distress the edges of all three rectangles. Ink the edges of all three rectangles using Hickory Smoke Distress Ink and a blending tool with foam.

Step Three. Die cut the Flourished Frame Die out of White Soft Finish Cardstock.

Step Four. Die cut the Flourished Oval Frame out of White Soft Finish Cardstock.

Step Five. From the Butterfly Flourish die, die cut the small butterfly twice and the medium butterfly once out of White Soft Finish Cardstock. Choose a fourth patterned paper that goes with the previous patterned papers and die cut two small butterflies and one medium butterfly out of the paper.

Step Six. Choose a fifth patterned paper that coordinates with the previous used papers. Die cut the Magic word out of the fifth patterned paper as well as one of the previously used patterned paper.

Step Seven. Choose two of the previously used patterned papers. Die cut the Spring word out of one of the patterned papers and then again out of the second patterned paper.

Step Eight. Adhere the 5 3/4″ book page rectangle to the 5 3/4″ chipboard or cardboard rectangle. Adhere the 5 1/4″ rectangle to the 5 3/4″ rectangle.

Step Nine. Adhere the Flourished Frame to the 5 1/4″ rectangle. Adhere the 4 1/4″ rectangle to the 4 3/4″ rectangle. Foam square the 4 3/4″ rectangle to the 5 1/4″ rectangle.

Step Ten. Adhere the two Spring words together so that the back word becomes a shadow for the top spring word. Adhere the two Magic words together so that the back word becomes a shadow for the top magic word. Adhere the Flourished Oval Frame to the middle of the 4 1/4″ rectangle. Adhere the Spring and Magic word as desired in the oval.

Step Eleven. Fold the wings up on the patterned medium butterfly, apply adhesive to the middle of the butterfly and adhere to the white soft finish cardstock medium butterfly. Fold the wings up on both small white soft finish cardstock butterflies, apply adhesive to the middle of the two butterflies and adhere to the patterned paper small butterflies. Adhere one of the small butterflies to the top right corner of the 4 1/4″ rectangle. Adhere the medium butterfly to the bottom left side of the flourished oval. Adhere the other small butterfly slightly above the medium butterfly.

Step Twelve. To finish the wall hanging, punch two holes at the top of the wall hanging. Tie white twine through the holes to create the hanger part of the wall hanging.

Thank you for joining me today! I hope that I’ve inspired you to create your own version of my Spring Magic Wall Hanging.

Katelyn
