Halloween Scarecrow

October 1, 2019

Hello Friends! It’s EK and I am popping in to let you know it is the first day of October, so that means it is officially time to break out all the fun Halloween stuff. I am so excited that Joset released earlier this year a fun-filled line of Halloween dies. They are going to be ghoul-tastic this year.

Step One: Die cut all the pieces from the Scarecrow die set using scrapes of printed paper. I used scrapes from the It’s Christmas Time, White Christmas, Relax in the Garden, Thinking About-Grand Canyon and Sweet Vintage Rose paper packs.

Step Two: Using Kids Choice Glue, assemble the scarecrow.

Step Three: Using alcohol markers, add some shadowing. I used N0, N2, and N4 copics.

Step Four: Trim a piece of Dusky Sky Soft Finish Cardstock to 5.5×5.5 inches. Using the Earth & Sky stencil and some Distress Oxides, add clouds and a moon to the background. I used Seedless Preserves, Faded Jeans and Chipped Sapphire. Adhere the inked cardstock to a piece of 12×6 inch trimmed piece of Rich Black Soft Finish Cardstock, that is scored and folded into a 6×6 inch card frame.

Step Five: Die cut the Tree die set from some Rich Black Soft Finish Cardstock. Adhere the tree and grass to the card frame.

Step Six: Adhere the Scarecrow and mice to the card frame.

Thank you for peeking in today. Let us know what Halloween project you are most excited to create this year in the comments below. Until then, happy crafting.

I Melt for Cocoa

February 7, 2019

Since we are in full swing of winter, that means in my house we are in full swing of cocoa consumption. It seems every other day new snow is falling and tired kiddos need a little post school pick me up of sweet hot chocolate. So today, I thought I would whip up a little zero calorie treat that fits the seasons of warming up in the form of a mug of cocoa and a melting marshmallow.

Step One: Stamp the focal images from the Marshmallow Snowmen stamp set onto some 85lb White Soft Finish Cardstock. Color the images in with alcohol markers. I used my copics.

Step Two: Die cute the images using the coordinating Marshmallow Snowmen die set.

Step Three: Using the Dashing Circles die set, die cut a ring from a piece of Dusky Sky Soft Finish Cardstock to create the rim of the mug. Die cut a circle that will fit inside the mug rim from a piece of Bronze Metallic Shimmer Sheetz to be the cocoa.

Step Four: Using a piece of polka dot printed paper from the Sweet Vintage Rose collection, die cut it with the Dashing Rectangle die set.

Step Five: To create the handle of the mug, die cut an ‘O’ from some Dusky Sky Soft Finish Cardstock. Discard the ‘O’, and use the negative scrap from the inside of the letter. It sounds funny, but works perfectly.

Step Six: Using 10mm Clear Double Sided Adhesive, adhere the printed paper and mug/cocoa onto an A2 card frame.

Step Seven: Using some 3mm Clear Double Sided Adhesive, add the mug handle.

Step Eight: Add a bit of 3mm Clear Double Sided Adhesive to the bottom of the melting marshmallow. Add some three-dimensional squares to the top of the image. Adhere it to the shimmer sheetz circle. Adhere the stamped banner above the mug.

Step Nine: Stamp in brown ink, the sentiment from the Cute Winter Sentiments onto some 85lb White Soft Finish Cardstock. Trim the sentiment and matte it with some Rust Soft Finish Cardstock. Adhere it to the bottom left of the A2 card.

Step Ten: Using the same brown ink that you used to stamp the sentiment distress the edges of the A2 card frame.

What you get in the end is a fun mug of cocoa that is sure to brighten any child or chocolate-lover’s day.

Thanks for peeking in, and I hope you are staying warm.

For our Challenge today we are giving away a Susan’s Garden Prize Pack which includes: Garden Notes Square Window & Flower Box, Sunflower 2 and an All Metal Tool Kit to 3 winners.

To enter, simply leave a comment on this blog post below and answer this question: What  is your favorite flower from the Garden Notes collection?

We will select 3 lucky winners in a random drawing.

The winners will be announced on Friday, July 14th, here on the Elizabeth Craft Designs blog.

Zoo Babies Panda Baby Card

June 12, 2017
Zoo Babies Panda Baby Card

Hi everyone,

It’s Frances here and it is my turn to post a tutorial for the Coloring Design Team. Today I am playing with the Krista Schneider Zoo Babies stamp set and coordinating dies to create a baby card. For some reason I seem to be making girl baby cards lately, but this card could easily be changed to suit a boy just by changing the colors of patterned papers used.

Zoo Babies Panda Baby Card

Here is how I created my card:

Step 1 –

  • Cut a piece of pale pink cardstock so it measures 4 1/4 inches x 11 inches. Score and fold at 5 1/2 inches to create a top folding card.
  • Use the second largest rectangle from the Stitched Rectangles die set to cut a rectangle from dark pink cardstock.
  • Use the second largest rectangle from the Fitted Rectangles die set to cut a rectangle from designer paper (from ModaScrap Sweet Vintage Rose Patterned Paper Pack).
  • Cut a piece of White Soft Finish Cardstock that measures 3 3/4 inches x 3 inches
  • Cut a piece of dark pink cardstock that measures 3 3/4 inches x 3 1/4 inches.
  • Layer all pieces onto the folded card using photo above as a guide.

Zoo Babies Panda Baby Card

Step 2 –

  • Use the third smallest square from the Stitched Squares die set and die cut a square from designer paper.
  • Use the fourth smallest square from the Dotted Scallop Squares die set and die cut a square from dark pink cardstock.
  • Use a trimmer to cut the square in half diagonally (see photo above).
  • Adhere one half of the square to the left hand side of the card using foam tape. (refer to photo below).

Step 3 –

  • Using the Zoo Babies Clear Stamp set, stamp out the bear; present and single flower onto White Soft Finish Cardstock using black ink.
  • Use coordinating dies to die cut each image and adhere to card using foam tape for the bear and present.
  • Decorate the edges of the white rectangle and the half square panel using Glitter Borders Peel-Off Stickers.

Step 4 –

  • Stamp a sentiment from the Baby Clear Stamp set to the lower right hand corner of card using black ink.

Step 5 – The Inside of Card:

  • Use the second largest rectangle from the Stitched Rectangles die set to cut a rectangle from dark pink cardstock.
  • Use the second largest rectangle from the Fitted Rectangles die set to cut a rectangle from designer paper (from ModaScrap Sweet Vintage Rose Patterned Paper Pack).
  • Cut a piece of White Soft Finish Cardstock that measures 3 3/4 inches x 3 inches
  • Cut a piece of dark pink cardstock that measures 3 3/4 inches x 3 1/4 inches.
  • Layer all pieces together and adhere to the inside of the card using photo above as a guide.

Step 6 –

  • Use the remaining half of the square we cut in half in step 2 to adhere to the left hand side of card.

Step 7 –

  • Stamp the “Baby” and “Girl” sentiments from the Baby Clear Stamp set to the white panel.
  • Color the ‘Baby” sentiment as desired.
  • Stamp the trio flowers from the Zoo Babies Clear Stamp set to the top and bottom right hand corner of white panel.

Thank you for  stopping by today, I hope you enjoyed my tutorial.
