Mighty Fine Fun

February 17, 2020

Karen here today from Craftily Yours! I’m excited to be sharing with you some pages I created using the Planner line. These dies and stamps can be used for planning, but I also enjoy using them to document special moments in my life. Today’s post is all about a mighty fine time I had with three wonderful women at the last Scrapbook Expo in my area!

You Were Born With Greatness

February 15, 2020

Hi! Diana here with one of my favorite dies to work with –– anything with butterflies! I love the color scheme I ended up with but purple is hard to photograph –– and glitter even more so! But this one is very pretty in real life so I hope you give it a try.

  1. I started with a light green sheet of cardstock measuring 4.5″ x 6.5″. I used Distress Oxides Lucky Clover and Cracked Pistachio to sponge around the edges and Squeezed Lemonade in the center to give it a sort of glow. I splattered with water and pat dry.
  2. Die cut the Butterfly Spray out of the top half of the colored cardstock and stamp the You were born with greatness in the bottom left corner of the sheet.
Make sure the area overs the butterfly spray.

3. With a bigger sheet of purple cardstock, I marked the approximate area behind the butterfly spray and covered that part with double sided adhesive.

Looks like a mess but will be so pretty once you overlay the negative of the butterfly die cut over it.

4. I then added a mix of Silk Microfine Glitter over the area. I initially wanted just the Amethyst but then lightened it with the Bright Cranberry and Silver Sands glitter. Rub in the glitter and use a Swiffer sheet to wipe off any excess.

The glitter is much brighter and more vibrant in real life.

5. Adhere the front to the purple sheet and trim if necessary. I then placed it all on a white card base.

Thanks so much for looking! I hope this card signals spring to come –– or 3 feet of snow. Nothing in between, thank you. 🙂

  • Color the cupcake and the hearts with Alcohol Markers

Step 3: Creating the Background

  • Add color with Distress Oxide Ink (Cracked Pistachio, Peacock Feathers) and a Mini Ink Blending Tool
  • Cut the colored tag apart by using one of the Valentine’s Edges dies
  • Puzzle the pieces together on the second tag
  • Cut out additional little dots, color them red and puzzle them into the openings

Step 4: Stamping

  • Add more texture to the background by stamping the XOXO from the Love Sentiments Set with Versafine Clair Morning Mist

Step 5: Finishing Touches

  • Add some highlights with a white gel pen
  • Dye a piece of seam binding with Distress Ink (Picked Raspberry) and thread it through the hole of the tag

Secret Recipe!

  • Mix some transparent Craft Drops and Cool Diamond Silk Microfine Glitter to create your own glitter paste

I Turtle-y Love You Card

February 5, 2020

Hi Everyone, it’s Tina here. Joset Designs’ new release Under The Sea is so adorable to create some sea/beach scene cards. I couldn’t resist the Sea Turtle character and the super cute sentiment which inspired my card. Below you will find the steps to create your own I Turtle-y Love You Card.

Step 1 – Trim White Soft Finish Cardstock to 8 1/2” x 5 1/2”, score at 4 1/4” and fold in half for a horizontal side fold card. (A2)

Step 2 – Apply ink onto a White Soft Finish Cardstock trimmed to 2” x 5 1/2”. Only ink the top section (this will be the top section of the waves) I used Distress Oxide Broken China.

Step 3 – Diecut Ocean Edges to the strips created in Step 2. Adhere to card using 3mm Clear Double Sided Adhesive Tape.

Step 4 – Stamp Splish Splash Sentiment using Versafine Onyx Black Ink on the bottom left side of the cards front.

Step 5 – Diecut Sea Turtle using Coloured Cardstock or White Soft Finish Cardstock and colour in with any colour medium. For the shell I used the top layer as a template by marking in pencil all the pieces. I Coloured inside the marked areas by applied varied colours in brown alcohol marker to create texture. Assemble the Sea Turtle using Kids Choice Glue. Adhere to card using Foam Tape.

Step 6 – Diecut Peek-A-Boo Love Set (the hearts only) using White Soft Finish Cardstock. Adhere to card using Foam Tape to create air bubbles in hearts.

You can use this card for lots of occasions by changing the sentiment and instead of using hearts with the bubbles from the Sea Turtle set. Below is a link to all the products used. Thank you for stopping by and have a wonderful day.

A Way With Words Cardmaking Soft Finish Cardstock

You Are Perfect

January 25, 2020

Hello Everyone!  It’s EK, and today I am popping in with a non-Valentine’s Valentine’s Day card.  I like giving out cards to friends and family on the 14th, but I also like it to look like a card for any other day of the year.  Today I am playing around with the negative image of a die cut to create this any-time Valentine’s day card.

EK Gorman, Elizabeth Craft Designs, Perfect a

Step One: Trim a piece of Dusky Lavender Soft Finish Cardstock to 12×6 inches.  Score and fold the the cardstock to make a 6×6 inch card frame.

Step Two:  Using the A Way with Stencils – Flourished Frame stencil, apply it over the card frame and blend in ink.  I used Worn Lipstick Distress Oxide.

IMG_E8607

Step Three:  Lift the stencil and lay it down to the side of the original image and blend more ink.

IMG_E8608

Step Four:  Repeat on the opposite side.

IMG_E8609

Step Five: Die cut the sentiment from the card frame using the You Are Perfect die set from the A With Words Line.  I tack down the dies where I want them using a little bit of blue tape.

IMG_E8610

Step Six:  Using a scrap of 90lb Soft Finish Cardstock and 3mm Clear Double Sided Adhesive, cover the die cut area of the die cut in the inside of the card frame.

IMG_E8611

Step Seven: Add the die cut sentiment back into the negative space, tacking it down with some blue tape.

IMG_E8612

Step Eight:  Using Kids Choice Glue, adhere back in the pieces from the die cut.  Carefully lift back out the die cut sentiment.

IMG_E8613

Step Nine:  Repeat step 7 and 8 using the other die cut sentiment.

IMG_E8614

Step Ten: Stamp on heart and flutter images onto the stamp using the Soar Collection stamp set.

IMG_E8615

Step Eleven:  Fill in the hearts with some color.  I watercolored ink from a Worn Lipstick Distress Marker.

IMG_E8616

Step Twelve:  Fill in the wing with a contrasting color.  I watercolored Black Soot Distress Marker into the wings.

Happy Birthday!

January 19, 2020

Hello! Welcome! Samantha here –– January marks my birthday month! So I thought it fitting to create a fun, bright birthday card using a few of my favourite Elizabeth Craft Designs smaller dies.

Card Instructions:

Step 1: Cut pink card stock to fit an A6 card base. (Measurements: 114mm x 162mm)

Step 2: Die cut 6 squares (from pattern paper and cardstock) using the smallest Fitted Rounded Square die.

Step 3: Die cut 6 squares (from pattern paper and cardstock) using the smallest Stitched Rounded Square die.

Step 4: Using pattern paper and cardstock die cut the small cupcakes 6x.

Step 5: Assemble all the die cut pieces as shown below. Mix and match the pattern paper and cardstock as desired.

Step 6: Adhere the assembled die-cuts to your card front. Stamp the sentiment using black ink.

Step 7:  Adhere Clear Double Sided adhesive to pink cardstock. Remove the release sheet to expose the adhesive layer and apply a generous amount of Silk Microfine Glitter (Silver). Brush off excess glitter and return it to the jar, then polish with a fingertip to bring out the maximum sparkle.

Step 8: Die cut the small hearts, and adhere these to the cupcakes on your card front. Embellish the card with enamel dots and a twine bow.

(Optional: Add machine stitched details.)

Step 9: Adhere card front to an A6 card base.

I hope you enjoyed today’s fun card tutorial showing you how I like to use smaller dies. Cupcakes are the best! I certainly will be having a few real ones one my birthday to go along side my cupcake greeting card.

Happy Crafting!

Samantha
