A Set Of Cute Hippo Baby Cards

February 23, 2020

Hello everyone, it’s Sanna Lippert here again today with a set of “build-a-Hippo” baby cards. I adore this little die cut die so much –– it’s perfect for so many occasions, and practically made for creating baby cards! And while I was at it, I created a set of three. You never know when you’ll need one!

This is how I created the cards:

Step 1: First take a sheet of White Soft Finish Cardstock and die cut 3 sets of Hippos. And don’t forget to die cut the feet six times!! 🙂
Step 2: Next take a sheet of Soft Sky and Dusky cardstock and die cut two sets with the Stitched Rounded Rechtangle from the blue paper and one set from the lilac one.
Step 3: Take a white Soft Finish Cardstock sheet (or glitter cardstock) and die cut three sets with the Postage Stamp Rectangles die cut die.
Step 4: Ink the hippo pieces with grey and pink stamp ink, but leave the eyes and teeth white.

Step 5: Now cut blue and purple patterned paper into a card size from the polka-dotted “Thinking about Polinesia” paper. Adhere onto the card base.
Step 6: Attach a piece of ribbon in blue and pink onto the cards, then adhere the rechtangle pieces on place. Start with the postage stamp piece and adhere the rounded rectangle on top.
Step 7: Add a stamped sentiment using the Ahoy Sentiments or the Build Your Own Sentiments 1 stamp set and black stamp ink.
Step 8: Color the tiny eye pieces with a black marker and adhere in place.

To give you a better idea of each and every step, I’ve again recorded a video for your to watch. I hope you like it!

I hope I inspired you to play with your dies a little today and create a few cards yourself! I’ll be back with another project next month.

Until then, happy crafting!
xxx, Sanna

Sweet as Sugar – ATCs and a Layout by Riikka

December 3, 2017

Moikka, it’s Riikka here with my last Guest Design Team post for Elizabeth Craft Designs! I want to thank you for the honor of guesting this year and I appreciate your comments. It has been a great ride and I have loved working with the dies and other supplies! My favorites are the new patterned papers and the great stamp sets, so I’m definitely going to continue using those in my makes in the future!

For this last post I’ve made some sweet treats with the Lollypop die set – some candy ATCs and a layout. The idea and the color palette came from the two papers you can see mixed in the first lollipop above – the minty green polka dot and the pink solid paper. They are something I wouldn’t have thought of combining otherwise but as they lay on top of each other when I was going through the supplies in search for an idea for this last post, I noticed how good they looked! And I started to think about candies immediately so then the ball started to roll, so to say. I also mixed in some white to brighten the cards and the black stamping brings in the contrast.

I took some step-by-step photos while working on the ATCs. Below you can see how I layered and combined the different mediums and how the process evolved. As always, you can use the same steps to create something else as well – a regular card or a layout like I did for my second project. Without further ado, here’s the tutorial!

Celebrate Every Victory

August 23, 2017

Hello friends, Piyanki here today welcoming you to a brand new post. Hydrangeas have been one of my favourites from the Susan’s Garden collection and I thoroughly enjoy using the hydrangea dies every single time I make a project with them. The flowers themselves are so vibrant and can be created with so many variations in the colors, just like in nature.

This time instead of using inks, paints, glitter, micro beads and such – what I usually do for backgrounds – I used some dies to create a simple, elegant white-on-white panel. I think the sentiment – “Celebrate every victory, no matter how small” – speaks volumes.

Hi everyone!

Welcome to our first Susan’s Garden Design Team Designer Challenge. Some of you asked for this challenge earlier in the year and we are so happy to finally be able to include it.

For our Challenge today we are giving away a Susan’s Garden Prize Pack which includes: Garden Notes Square Window & Flower Box, Sunflower 2 and an All Metal Tool Kit to 3 winners.

To enter, simply leave a comment on this blog post below and answer this question: What  is your favorite flower from the Garden Notes collection?

We will select 3 lucky winners in a random drawing.

The winners will be announced on Friday, July 14th, here on the Elizabeth Craft Designs blog.

“HELLO” – SUNSHINE TULIP CARD

May 30, 2017

“A tulip doesn’t strive to impress anyone. It doesn’t struggle to be different…

It doesn’t have to. Its different…”

These lines from America’s celebrated spiritual teacher and author Marianne Williamson describes the spirit of the Tulip flower. Tulips have been known since centuries as the symbol of perfect endearing love between partners or family members.

Today I dedicate this card to the bonhomie I share with a childhood friend of mine whom I have connected with after almost 30 years. I have used Yellow tulips in this card as they mean “there’s a sunshine in your smile”. Yellow tulip is a great medium to express affection and care for your friends and loved ones. I dedicate this card not only to my friend but also all my fellow designers as a mark of warmth and camaraderie I share with each one of you.

This “Hello ” card is a layered card.

Embossed Shimmer Sheetz Easter Eggs

April 9, 2017

Embossed Shimmer Sheetz Easter Eggs
by Judi Kauffman

Each year I make sparkly embossed Shimmer Sheetz Easter Eggs for my friends. It’s always a mix of hanging ornaments and cards, sometimes a two-fer card with a removable ornament on the front. I enjoy choosing the embossing folders and have a great time adding embellishments like Glitter Dots peel-offs.

This time I incorporated some of the new ModaScrap dies. I trimmed away portions of the Dandelion Fluff to create the feel of grass or nests as well as to make an egg stand! Dancing Butterflies and portions of the Lace Pocket made their way into some of the cards, too.

I usually try to limit my cards to only one or two dies but I went all-out this time, incorporating Stitched and Postage Stamp Rectangles as well as the aforementioned. The eggs are hand cut. I wanted chubby, bottom-heavy 3.5” eggs, larger than the Elizabeth Craft Designs egg die, so I drew my own pattern. (It’s a very simple shape – you won’t have any trouble drawing an egg, I promise!)

So Sweet – Garden Notes Hydrangea from Susan’s Garden

February 17, 2017

Wishing all my friends and fellow crafters a very good day.

Where I live the spring season is in full bloom, marking the end of a hard winter season and the beginning of fresh sunny weather ahead. The spring season brings vibrantly colored flowers that dot the fields and gardens. Flowers brighten our lives with their beauty. One such flower is the hydrangea – also known as the water flower. Hydrangeas signify heartfelt emotions, gratitude and thanksgiving to one you care for, as well as abundance and prosperity. With these emotions in mind I have created this card with the hydrangea as the central theme.
