Karen here. Today, I’m loving the slimline cards that I’m seeing all over the place and decided to create a couple for today’s post using two of my favorite designs by Joset – the Monkey and the Parrot.
First up, I created a horizontal slimline card with this adorable monkey.

To create this card, I cut a 7×8.5″ piece of Kraft cardstock and scored it in the middle to create a horizontal slimline base. I added brown cardstock cut at 3.25×8.25″ layered with the plaid cardstock cut at 3×8″. The sentiment is from the Safari Sayings Sentiments and is embossed with copper embossing powder.

On that adorable monkey, I colored him with Distress Ink in Tea Dye and Vintage Photo and dabbed him with a VERY slightly damp paper towel to add some furry-like texture to him. He is placed on top of a Dotted Scallop Circle and a Stitched Circle die.

And don’t you just LOVE this Parrot die! The tri-fold card base was created with 90lb White Soft Finish Cardstock cut at 8×8.5″. It’s scored at one end at 2″ and at the other end at 3″. I colored that sweet parrot with Picked Raspberry and Dried Marigold Distress Ink. I colored his beak and feet with a Copic YR14. The parrot is mounted on a Fitted Rounded Square. Again, I used the Safari Sayings Sentiment.
