Holiday Treats

November 21, 2022

Hello. Jackie here with today inspiration. I was playing with the new Warm Winter Mug die set and thought hmmmm I wonder if I could make a cupcake! and what do you know it works perfectly.

Step One

Die cut the solid mug part first, you do not need to cut the whole mug as we will only need the bottom half. Trim the handle off.

Step Two.

Lay the two fancy dies on to the solid cut piece, lift off the bottom die then run this though a die cutting machine creating the base for the cupcake. Die cut the fancy piece again into coloured card then glue on top.

Step Three.

Draw and fussy cut out a cake shape as shown in the photo, this will not need to be perfect as you will only see a small amount. Glue the cake in place behind the cup case then the cream on top.

Step Four.

Next, create the striped pattern directly on to an A2 top folding card blank. Trim a hand fall of pink striped patterned paper then starting at one diagonal end glue the first piece in place. cut a 1cm strip of card to act as a template to achieve the correct spacing, continue to glue the thin strips in place until the front is covered then cut off all the overhanging pieces. Repeat this step again only using thinner silver glittered card strips.

Step Five.

Use a stitched rectangle die to cut a small layer. cut this into both coloured card and vellum then attach the two together with a small piece of double-sided tape in the centre. Fix in place on the card front using 1mm foam pads.

Step Six.

Decorate the top of the cup cake with various goodies then attach to the card front using more 3d foam pads. finish off by adding a little bit of sparkle here and there along with the sentiment.

I really love the way you can create different things form Joset’s dies. I hope I have inspired you to have a go at making this cupcake card.

Happy crafting Jackie x
