Holiday Thank you Cards

December 26, 2020

Christmas may be over, but that doesn’t mean the need for a few more holiday thank you cards is done. Today I have whipped up four holiday thank notes for family members who thought of us this year.

Step One: Using Elizabeth Craft Designs Watercolor Palette, lay down a layer of color onto some watercolor paper. Each color spot has two or three different colors to create the spot.

Step Two: Die cut the color spots using both A Way With Words Flourished Christmas Minis and Flourished Christmas Minis 2.

Step Three: Using 90lb Soft Finished Cardstock, die cut A Way With Words Family four times.

Step Four: Trim a piece of 90lb Soft Finish Cardstock to 4.25×5.5 inches to create four backgrounds of the cards. Blend Distress Oxides around the edges using the darkest on the outside and going lighter to the the middle. I used Black Soot, Chipped Sapphire and Speckled Egg.

Step Five: Repeat four each of the four backgrounds.

Step Six: Spray and splatter the cardstock with a silver shimmer spray.

Step Seven: Die cut the four background pieces with the Stitched Rounded Rectangle die set.

Step Eight: Using 10mm Clear Double Sided Adhesive, adhere the background to an A2 card frame.

Step Nine: Using a stamping platform, add the sentiments to the four card frames. I used both the Love & Hearts Collection stamp set and the Build Your Own Sentiments 1 stamp set.

Step Ten: Using Kids Choice Glue, adhere both the Family die cut and Minis to the four card frames.

Step Eleven: Add little heart flourishes from the Love & Hearts Collection stamp set to the four cards.

Step Twelve: Add Metallic Silver Craft drops to the four cards.

I love how each of these cards came out, looking a lot like winter with just a touch of the lingering holidays.

Do you Send Holiday thank you cards? What do you put as the focus image on them? Let us know in the comments below. Until then, happy crafting.

My Best Days

December 9, 2020

Good morning!
With our busy hectic lives right now we sometimes don’t have a lot of craft time BUT we really need some time spent crafting and making pretty (or masculine) things. So to fit into our busy schedules simple is GOOD!

To create this layout
Step 1 – cover both sides of your paper with clear gesso ( I used Worn Wood paper pack) and allow to dry or heat with your gun

Step 2 – use your favorite ECD stencil and texture past on the right side top and left side bottom allow to dry or heat set (I used the Spring flower mandala)
Step 3 – Using your watercolor palette, paint the images and allow the paint to run down the page and a couple of brush strips above where your photo will be – this create more visual interest, allow to dry or heat set
Step 4 – stamp 2 images – I close to the right hand image and one above where your photo will be

Step 5 – using coordinating paper (I used the soft finish chocolate) die cut the elegant ornament, and the trio of leaves
Step 6 – tear a piece of cardboard and mat your photo.
Step 7 – adhere everything down and add your title

Thanks for stopping by,
Laura

A Little Hocus Pocus

October 29, 2020

Hey Friends! It’s EK, and I am popping in with a little bit of fan art I created using several stamp sets from Ilse and Charlene. This collection has a whole host of great stamp sets featuring different girls, and I have been kicking the idea around for some time about combining them to create a little homage to my favorite Halloween Movie. I don’t know if I quite captured the look I was going for, but I sure had a lot of fun trying.

Step One: Trim a piece of watercolor to 6×4.5 inches. Stamp girl images from Floral Girls, Halloween Party, and Make a Wish stamp sets onto Watercolor paper, masking where needed. I picked three different gal images trying to capture a likeness of three famous movie witches.

Step Two: Peel up the masks to reveal the stamped images.

Step Three: Watercolor the images focusing in on the skin and hair. I used ECD’s Watercolor Palette.

Step Four: Finish watercoloring the image.

Step Five: Blend ink around the edges to create a haze. I used Shabby Shutters Distress Oxide.

Step Six: Trim a piece of black cardstock to 8.5×6 inches. Using 10mm Clear Double Sided Adhesive, adhere the watercolor paper to the black cardstock. Die cut a halloween sentiment from the Words 3 Happy Holidays die set. Using Kids Choice Glue, adhere the sentiment to the cardstock.

While I did not quite capture the three witches from my favorite spooky movie, I am still going to matte this piece and frame it for the Halloween Season.

Do you ever try to capture pop culture themes with your stamps and dies? Let us know in the comments below. Until then, happy crafting.

October 22, 2020

Hey Crafters! Katelyn here, sharing with you my Boo Sidekick Essentials Page.

To create my Boo Sidekick Essentials Page, I’ve used a variety of dies from the Planner Essentials Collection, the Sidekick Essentials Collection as well as a stamp from Charlene. You’ll want to read below as I share with you how to recreate my sidekick essentials page at home.

Step One. Die cut the page from the Sidekick Essentials 1 die out of a piece of White Soft Finish Cardstock. Spritz water on the page and then spritz Dylusions Ink Spray in Squeezed Orange on the page.

Step Two. You’ll need the circle border stamp from the Background Stamp 3 stamp set. Apply Ripe Persimmon Distress Ink to the stamp and stamp three times on the page as desired. Reapply ink to the stamp as needed.

Step Three. From the Halloween Party Stamp set, you’ll need the bat stamp. Apply Emboss It Ink to the bat stamp and stamp on the page as desired. You’ll need a total of four bat stamps stamped. Reapply Ink to the stamp as needed. Sprinkle Molten Dimensions Black Magic Embossing Powder over the stamped bat images. Tap off the excess powder and emboss with a heat tool. Ink the edges of the page using Black Soot Distress Ink and a blending tool with foam.

Step Four. You’ll need a couple pieces of Halloween patterned paper. From the Sidekick Essentials 5 die, you’ll need the stitched rectangle and the plain rectangle. Die cut the stitched rectangle out of one of the halloween patterned papers. Die cut the plain rectangle out of the other patterned paper. Ink the edges of both rectangles using Black Soot Distress Ink and a blending tool with foam.

Step Five. Choose one of the reinforcements out of the Variety Reinforcement Pack. Die cut the reinforcement once out of a piece of black cardstock. You’ll need a total of six reinforcements.

Step Six. From the Sidekick Essentials 1 die, die cut the frame out of a piece of black cardstock.

Step Seven. From another piece of halloween patterned paper, die cut the arrow from the Sidekick Essentials 3 die. Ink the edges of the arrow using Black Soot Distress Ink and a blending tool with foam.

Step Eight. Die cut the word Boo from the Blackboard Alphabet Die out of White Soft Finish Cardstock. Ink the edges of the letters using Black Soot Distress Ink and a blending tool with foam.

Step Nine. From the Halloween Party stamp set, you’ll need the cat and the pumpkin stamps. Apply Jet Black Archival Ink to both stamps and stamp onto a piece of watercolour cardstock. Colour the two stamped images in using a waterbrush and the Watercolor Palette. Once the images have dried, fussy cut the images out. Ink the edges of the two images using Black Soot Distress Ink and a blending tool with foam.

Step Ten. Adhere the reinforcements over top of each of the holes on the page.

Step Eleven. Foam square the stitched rectangle 5/8″ from the left and 3/8″ from the bottom of the page. Use adhesive and foam squares to adhere the plain rectangle 1/2″ from the right and 7/8″ from the bottom of the page. Use adhesive and foam squares to adhere the frame 1″ from the bottom and have a 1/4″ over hang on the left hand side of the page.

Step Twelve. Foam square the cat to the middle of the frame. Foam square the pumpkins to the bottom right corner of the frame.

Step Thirteen. Adhere the Boo word to the left of the pumpkins as desired. Adhere the arrow below the frame as desired.

Fall Planner Insert

September 24, 2020

Hey Crafters! Katelyn here, sharing with you my Fall Planner Insert.

To create my Fall Planner Insert, I’ve used a variety of dies from the Planner Essentials Collection, the Art Journal Specials Collection and stamps from Charlene. You’ll want to read below as I share with you how to recreate my planner insert at home.

Step One. Die cut the small tag from the Planner Essentials 26 – Planner Pocket 4 – Tag & Toppers die out of White Soft Finish Cardstock. Place the Story Telling stencil in the middle of the tag. Using a palette knife, put Texture Paste Opaque Matte through the stencil. Remove the stencil and allow the paste to dry. Once the paste has dried, sprinkle Magenta Nuance in Red and Orange on the tag. Spritz the powder with water and allow time to dry.

Step Two. From the Background Stamps 1 you’ll need the dot stamp. Apply Potting Soil Archival Ink to the dot stamp and stamp randomly on the tag. You’ll need to stamp a total of seven times. Reapply ink to the stamp as needed. Ink the edges of the tag using Walnut Stain Distress Ink and a blending tool with foam.

Step Three. From a Fall piece of patterned paper, die cut the rectangle with a slot on the right from the Planner Essentials 21 – Note Pieces die out of the patterned paper. Ink the edges of the rectangle piece using Walnut Stain Distress Ink and a blending tool with foam.

Step Four. From the Planner Essentials 26 – Planner Pocket 4 – Tag & Toppers die, you’ll need the stitched banner and the long point label. Die cut the stitched banner out of a piece of kraft cardstock. Die cut the long point label out of a piece of Fall patterned paper. Ink the edges of both pieces using Walnut Stain Distress Ink and a blending tool with foam.

Step Five. From the Reinforcement Variety Pack, you’ll need the reinforcement with the rounded end. Die cut a total of eight reinforcements out of a piece of kraft cardstock. Ink the edges of the reinforcements using Walnut Stain Distress Ink and a blending tool with foam.

Step Six. From the Make A Wish Stamp Set, you’ll need two of the feathers. Apply Potting Soil Archival Ink to both the feather stamps and stamp onto a piece of watercolor cardstock. Color the feathers in using the Watercolor Palette. Fussy cut both feathers out. Ink the edges of both feathers using Walnut Stain Distress Ink and a blending tool with foam.

Step Seven. From the Morning Letters Stamp Set, you’ll need the letters to spell out Fall. Apply Potting Soil Archival Ink to the letter stamps and stamp onto a piece of White Soft Finish Cardstock. Fussy cut the word out. Ink the edges of the word using Potting Soil Archival Ink and a blending tool with foam.

Step Eight. Adhere one of the reinforcements over top of the hole at the top of the tag. Adhere four of the reinforcements on the left hand side of the tag, making sure that they line up with the rings in your planner. Flip the tag over and adhere the remaining reinforcements overtop of the reinforcements you just adhered.

Step Nine. Staple the stitched banner and long pointed label to the left hand side of the rectangle. Foam square the rectangle 7/8″ from the bottom and 1/4″ over the right hand side of the tag.

Step Ten. Use adhesive and foam squares to adhere the two feathers as desired on the rectangle piece. Use adhesive and foam squares to adhere the Fall word to the bottom right side of the feathers as desired.
